As one more week passes by, one more week of fresh store content is here to greet you; don’t you love this routine we have. I set out our wares, and you come along and loiter in the aisles, and touch all the merchandise leaving fingerprints everywhere, and then go on your merry way. Sometimes you may even gently abuse me too. It’s all so familiar, and when I’m not around like last week I do miss it. So it’s a pleasure to be back this week.
Anyway, enough inane blathering, I suppose it’s time to follow on with tradition and list the new content, and give you my thoughts on the highlights this week (in no specific order).
The recent monkey loving continues with the release of Monkey Island 2, in all its shiny new glory. This new edition has a new lick of paint, but there is also a wealth of other goodies including the ability to toggle between the new version and the original version (to see just how shiny and lovely the new version actually is) and a fully fledged developer commentary featuring the original creators Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman reminiscing on the making of the game amongst other things. For fans of the classic series this is a great opportunity to rekindle your love, and for anybody who hasn’t played this classic game yet – firstly, what’s wrong with you? – secondly, get it now.
There’s something called a Resurgence pack for a title you may know called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, I believe it’s some kind of shooty game where you hurt people and then cackle manically down your headset, before giving them a teabag to rub in the humiliation. Ah, how I love a good FPS multiplayer session
There’s more additional content goodness in the form of Leliana’s Song for Dragon Age: Origins, and the Marvel costumes and level kit for LittleBigPlanet. We’ve also given the LittleBigPlanet section a late spring clean, and tidied it up, therefore making it easier to rummage through the goodies on offer.
Before, I steer you to the full list of all the content available, allow me mention that the latest batch of Special Offers will be available today too, so for the next two weeks you can grab discounts on some great content, including After Burner Climax, Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West and Half Minute Hero.
That’s enough hawking the wares for now, as usual if you so desire leave a comment and we’ll go from there.
Cheers.

Still no Crisis core: ff7, another week the EU store is absent of one of the best PSP games, that game should have been on there from the start of the pspgo.

Mike, now the major Monkey Islands are finally released on PSN, when do you suppose we’ll receive Broken Sword: Director’s Cut, Beneath A Steel Sky – Remastered and Machinarium?

@286 If one region has the resources/marketing partners/funding to offer an expanded experience, then it absolutely should. I don’t blame anyone for wanting more content, but why not just ask for it? I see tons of comments demanding it and threatening action, as though SCEE made those promises. People seem to forget that SCEA and SCEE are entirely seperate and autonomous divisions.

Regretting paying for PS+ already.
This week/month thing is a red herring; straight from the go we’re getting less content and lower quality content than US subscribers, but then we’ve always known that Sony are far more generous to their US customers even though more PS3s are sold in EMEAA.

Mike on the store Super Stardust Hd is £6.29 and the Super Stardust Hd Complete is £2.39, I think you may be misleading people…
Posted on 8 July, 2010 at 1:50 pm by Mike Kebby
It was a promotion on the complete pack of SSHD, this should have ended today, and will be amended shortly.

Posted on 8 July, 2010 at 1:44 pm by MoneyMarko
If you search Super Stardust Hd on the store it’s very confusing indeed, there seems to be a few Super Stardust Hd games, weird.
Posted on 8 July, 2010 at 1:50 pm by Mike Kebby
SSHD is the game on it’s own, and the Complete version is the game and the two add-ons. Hope that clears it up

@Mike
I asked a question, then asked why it gets ignored each week and you said ‘what was your question?’ then I ask it again and it gets ignored again hahaha
‘Any idea if we’re going to get the ‘Sony Cat’ Toro and Kuro dynamic themes over here like they have in Japan?’
thanks
Posted on 8 July, 2010 at 2:09 pm by Mike Kebby
Haven’t had time to play catch up with comments today.
We won’t be getting those themes I imagine no, they were created for that region specifically. Though if there’s enough demand who knows.

G’day Mike,
I know you haven’t had time to answer questions from this morning but I just wanted to reiterate my main question.
I have noticed that Buzz: Quiz World hasn’t gotten any cheaper on the Australian store, Is this an error or was the salle limited to certain countries?
Cheers Mike and thanks for the updates and all the time and effort you put into answering our queries!!

G’day
It’s been updated now, this was raised to me earlier this morning, and has since been rectified. Cheers.

Core gamers are Sony’s #1 priority
Kaz Hirai, however, explained recently exactly what type of focus Sony is currently taking: “We’ve always believed that whatever it is we’re doing, it’s something that appeals to our core gaming audience first and foremost,” SCE worldwide boss Kaz Hirai told The Telegraph.
“But we want to make sure that we have software that appeals those gamers without neglecting the hardcore gaming audience who have always been the real diehard supporters of PS3. That’s the balance we struck in our [E3] keynote press briefing, I think.”
so mike here is the ultimate question where are all those games that the US have, cause we as hardcore gamers want all that 2 yet we still waiting with a time difference off a year lagging behind them

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught Mode & Battlefield 1943 (£13.99/€17.99) Rating: PEGI 16
This is a bit cheeky, isn’t it? I bought the Onslaught pack last week full price ($14.95) and just a week later it’s bundled in with Battlefield 1943 ($19.95) for $27!?!
If I’d know this pack was coming out I would have waited a week, saved myself money and got the two packs together. Another example (along with PS+) that heavy users of the PS Store get punished for buying content when it’s first released.
This offer should have been on the store last week when Onslaught was released, then I would at least have had the choice to get it instead of the single dlc packs. Instead it comes out just a week later and I feel like I’ve been shafted!!!

@TheMART
where can i buy? i think now its to late :S”
Sorry, didn’t read back on this topic anymore. But google PSN cards and you’ll get like a lot of resellers in your country. For the Netherlands it gave me like what, 10 different shops? I bought it at one where I could use iDeal and after the payment was done, I got an instant PSN code for 20 Euro.
Maybe a reminder for next time if you need a PSN prepaid card fast…
@ Mike
I still don’t get why USA gets such a better deal. If I don’t even look at the number of items they now got after 2 weeks updates, let me mention just Qore. That subscription is costing 25 USD a year normally. With PS+ USA they’re getting that also packed for free.
Can’t PS+ Europe get that core into the package also? It would at least bring it a bit up to what PS+ USA is getting for 50 USD, compared to what we get for 50 Euro (aka 60 to 70 USD).

hey mike are you ever planning on delivering as much content as the US store or can we expect in this 10 year life cycle the same stuff and no new ps1 classic cause i am sure me and a lot off other gamers kinda getting fed up with the way we are getting treated, and why te hell is everything always wrong in sony europe department you know stuff you guys don’t even know about stuff that was supposse 2 be released stuff that keeps missing iver and over again a more usefull reply off the situation would be helpfull cause we really get left in the dark a lot that’s mostly the reason ppl are complaining we kinda keep getting shafted screwed over nailed 2 the wall

@ Mike
As I’m looking into getting USA PS+, any idea if I get the subscription on my USA account if it will work?Or is it IP locked for people with a USA IP address? Will I have trouble downloading stuff because of my EU IP address?
The 15 months for the price of 12 months and the extra content including Qore makes me wanna get that one along my EU PS+ and then not renew my EU PS+ next year. It might be double for this first year, but so be it.
I hope you can answer the questions above.

Might be abit late, but hopefully you still read it mike. I noticed if you search “fat princess” on the PS store there are to versions that seem identical, one for £11.99 and the other £7.99. After the perma-price reduction it is now £7.99 but it seems the old one hasnt been taken down, meaning some poor helpless soul could buy the game for £3 more than he should =( this makes me a sad panda (I personaly owned the game from launch but still, i like looking out for the ps community) =). So would be nice if this could be fixed before someone makes that mistake and you get pounded for it. Thanks Mike! hope it all works out

uhm Mike I don’t post alot here but can we expect a FIFA PSOne game on the Playstation Store? if so then let it be FIFA 99

Posted on 11 July, 2010 at 8:01 pm by ggctuk
@ devilwithoutfear – We can’t expect anything because the devs do not like us apparently. We can’t even get Tomb Raider from Eido$, and that’s a game that started in the UK, so Region 2 should have got it first. And EA does not apparently like submitting things, because they’ve failed to submit other PSOne classic titles as well such as Medal of Honor.
Seriously, I think SONY should just give us a program that rips and encodes PSOne discs and puts those games straight on your PSP.
