Deathspank. I doubt I’ll ever get to start another blog entry, or any other piece of writing, with that word again (even though it’s a made up compound word, it’s still a valid observation), so I’ll make the most of this. Purely on name alone, this game deserves to be played, however, it’s also a happy coincidence that it’s also a very nifty title. There is death involved, but as yet I’ve found very little spank action. What I have experienced though is a whole lot of fun and I cannot recommend this game highly enough.
Moving on, we have quite a lot of PSP action this week with new content released, as well as a new batch of PSP Essentials. Also, to celebrate the recent successes of our minis range, there are five new releases to get your teeth into too, and a new section on the store highlighting our most successful/favourites called ‘Thanks a Million’, so make sure you take a look.
For the rest, you know the score by now, take a look below, and then leave your insights, comments, and recipe tips in the comments section and I’ll try and duly respond as much as possible.
Cheers.

Decent update this week.

First? Anyway, I just want to point out that the word after ‘Death’ in today’s PS3 game is on the blog’s ‘black list of naughtiness’ so if you use it, it might get deleted and your post will be slightly delayed. Why not think of some funny alternatives and I’ll leave Mike to choose his favourite.

Not a very good update, any PS1 games in the pipeline?

Wow that’s a lot of PSP Titles.
Thank god I resisted th urge to buy Monster hunter back then. Heh.
So I was wondering, are we going to get anymore Psone “Classics”?
Anytime soon?
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:20 pm by Mike Kebby
I’m not sure to be honest at the moment, I need to have a dig around.

Just curious, any chance for a crossregiong gifting option to come soon?
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:20 pm by Mike Kebby
I doubt it to be honest, but I don’t know.

Some nice price reductions for the Capcom psp games.

I reckon I’ll get Archibald’s Adventure like I saw in the previous blog post about the Minis. Problem is I’m broke (or else I’d get Deathspank and Monkey Island 1 and 2 special editions) and to even get the cheap Archibald’s Adventure I need to put £5 in the account as a minimum. guh… Not a good time for me what with trying to move home.

Nice update.
Will the Blur demo get downloaded automatically for PSN+ subscribers?
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:21 pm by Mike Kebby
No it won’t.

I see the US guys got more nice PSN+ deals this week. Is there any reason they give stuff every week and we only get it once a month? I would understand if the amount of free/discounted content was similar at the end of the month but it really isn’t…
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:23 pm by Mike Kebby
It’s not my place to say what could happen in the future, but SCEA decided to roll content out on a weekly basis, whereas SCEE decided to instead have one whammy of content at the start of the month. Who knows what the future could bring though?

# Burnout Legends (£7.99/€9.99)
# Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (£7.99/€9.99)

There goes £16! I’m LOVING the essentials!
Also, mike do you know if SSX will ever come to the PSP store?
Also can we PLEASE have a kevin butler theme!
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:25 pm by Mike Kebby
A Kevin Butler theme would be awesome!

Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:27 pm by Mike Kebby
We need a new name for it, for the purposes of the blog comments.
Deathplank?
Deathcrank?
Deathshank?

Why does the USA get new PS+ content every week and we only get it once a month?
Anyway, getting DeathSlap.
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:28 pm by Mike Kebby
Deathslap is a good one

Oh and nothing for me this week

I want to download death-playful slap but how do I know it won’t be part of PSN plus deal later?
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:29 pm by Mike Kebby
I don’t know if it would be part of Plus, at the moment brand new games are only released for everyone on the Store as usual though.
25
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:18 pm by Allen_46
can you please clear something up for me. for Plus members it said early access to demos. but i haven’t seen any yet i thought we whould get all the demos a week or two before non-plus people
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:31 pm by Mike Kebby
It’s not for all demos no, it would be for selected demos. As for what they would be and when I couldn’t say I’m afraid, I don’t look after Plus.
26
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:18 pm by PenguinGlen
@James: Well, technically I’m not the first to comment. Plus, I deliberately don’t say first to annoy those who would say it. I’m evil.
DeathClobber seems interesting…

I suggest we called it Poospank. Poospank sounds good. Might have to buy that
Trine DLC? Any idea what that is Mikey?
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:32 pm by Mike Kebby
There are some poo related items and quests in the game, happy hunting
All I know is that it’s one additional level.

Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:19 pm by wiiman07
Just a question why wasnt the Playstation + Universal across all locales? That is the only reason why I will not be purchasing it.
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:34 pm by Mike Kebby
I would imagine it’s because each region has a different services offering, as well as store content available.
31
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:19 pm by superman1970
No freebies for plus subscribers! mmmmm US network got some
maybe im very optomistic but a demo of GT5 thats being used at E3 etc or Killzone, would have made my day lol

Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:19 pm by Coheno
Totally gonna check out DeadlySpank (is that better, or will it still get deleted), I’m in the mood for a good RPG!
Blur demo? Are you kidding me! Too little, too late!
Protip for Acti: Rellease the demo before the game comes out and bombs in sales….

34

@funkpower
But USA’s PS+ content of these first three weeks combined it’s much more than our whole month’s content.

Good week for PSP gamers. Not so good for PS3 gamers.
Good thing I have both. Gonna have to get me some of those Essentials
40
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:20 pm by funkpower
Now that could be a huge problem, + members could start waiting for content rather then shelling out now? Hmmmmm…… wonder if Sony thought of that?
41
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:20 pm by DarkDeux
Now the question: get DeathSpank or wait to be avariable in PSN+?
42
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:20 pm by Kaidith
Might be abit late, but hopefully not mike. I noticed if you search “fat princess” on the PS store there are to versions that seem identical, one for £11.99 and the other £7.99. After the perma-price reduction it is now £7.99 but it seems the old one hasnt been taken down, meaning some poor helpless soul could buy the game for £3 more than he should =( this makes me a sad panda (I personaly owned the game from launch but still, i like looking out for the ps community) =). So would be nice if this could be fixed before someone makes that mistake and you get pounded for it. Thanks Mike! hope it all works out
reposted from last store update as it seems to have been missed =)

why does the dlc for trine cost on psn when my steam friend got it for free
46
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:22 pm by killzonexx
again no usefull update (for me) only alot of things that cost money
1 ps3 demo blur…… come on is there really no new upcoming game that have a demo??
i really hope things will chance in the future
i also hope Playstation plus members will get something special in the future but if i see the lack of good update’s/demo’s on playstation store then i doubt plus users will get something nice either

Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:22 pm by dgnfly
the reason playstation plus in US get content added evryweek is because they get content added 2 their normal store and sony europe doesen’t have enough content 2 give us
49
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:22 pm by Martingutten
So, EU get screwded again by SCEE? US get weekly psplus updated. Why won’t sony give us some love, we are after all the ones that are buying the most PS3′s.
You have also broken your promise about PSone-classics you have 4-5 years ago, and we who dosn’t live in UK/US/GR/FR pays more for our systems, so give us videostore and comicstore!
Getting DeathHitter tho =)

Hey Mike, its very hard to get any answer about Rockband and Rockband network. Cant you just tell why we dont get last weeks Rockband networks songs. Why is this happen time after time in Europe?
Posted on 14 July, 2010 at 12:47 pm by Mike Kebby
We can only release what is submitted to us I’m afraid, I imagine whatever you believe is missing will be added in subsequent weeks.
