‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update (14th July 2010)

PSstore_Logo

Deathspank. I doubt I’ll ever get to start another blog entry, or any other piece of writing, with that word again (even though it’s a made up compound word, it’s still a valid observation), so I’ll make the most of this. Purely on name alone, this game deserves to be played, however, it’s also a happy coincidence that it’s also a very nifty title. There is death involved, but as yet I’ve found very little spank action. What I have experienced though is a whole lot of fun and I cannot recommend this game highly enough.

Moving on, we have quite a lot of PSP action this week with new content released, as well as a new batch of PSP Essentials. Also, to celebrate the recent successes of our minis range, there are five new releases to get your teeth into too, and a new section on the store highlighting our most successful/favourites called ‘Thanks a Million’, so make sure you take a look.

For the rest, you know the score by now, take a look below, and then leave your insights, comments, and recipe tips in the comments section and I’ll try and duly respond as much as possible.

Cheers.

Nice update! :D

PenguinGlen 14 July, 2010 @ 12:11 pm   2

Decent update this week. :)

James Gallagher 14 July, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   3

First? Anyway, I just want to point out that the word after ‘Death’ in today’s PS3 game is on the blog’s ‘black list of naughtiness’ so if you use it, it might get deleted and your post will be slightly delayed. Why not think of some funny alternatives and I’ll leave Mike to choose his favourite.

AaronSOLDIER 14 July, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   4

Not a very good update, any PS1 games in the pipeline?

No Ridge Racer for my PSP Go :( Why oh why did I buy it. Anyway, theres always next week.

PirateDave 14 July, 2010 @ 12:13 pm   6

No DeffSpank demo? (thanks for the heads up James) Or is there a trial and unlock deely going on?

Ragnarok-NZ 14 July, 2010 @ 12:13 pm   7

Wow that’s a lot of PSP Titles.
Thank god I resisted th urge to buy Monster hunter back then. Heh.

So I was wondering, are we going to get anymore Psone “Classics”?
Anytime soon?

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:20 pm

I’m not sure to be honest at the moment, I need to have a dig around.

Shadowdragoon 14 July, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   8

Just curious, any chance for a crossregiong gifting option to come soon?

Some nice price reductions for the Capcom psp games.

Carnivius_Prime 14 July, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   10

I reckon I’ll get Archibald’s Adventure like I saw in the previous blog post about the Minis. Problem is I’m broke (or else I’d get Deathspank and Monkey Island 1 and 2 special editions) and to even get the cheap Archibald’s Adventure I need to put £5 in the account as a minimum. guh… Not a good time for me what with trying to move home.

turbogeek421 14 July, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   11

Nice update.

Will the Blur demo get downloaded automatically for PSN+ subscribers?

RSA-Ace 14 July, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   12

I see the US guys got more nice PSN+ deals this week. Is there any reason they give stuff every week and we only get it once a month? I would understand if the amount of free/discounted content was similar at the end of the month but it really isn’t…

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:23 pm

It’s not my place to say what could happen in the future, but SCEA decided to roll content out on a weekly basis, whereas SCEE decided to instead have one whammy of content at the start of the month. Who knows what the future could bring though?

Forsinain42 14 July, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   13

# Burnout Legends (£7.99/€9.99)
# Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (£7.99/€9.99)

:0

There goes £16! I’m LOVING the essentials!

Also, mike do you know if SSX will ever come to the PSP store?

Also can we PLEASE have a kevin butler theme!

Carnivius_Prime 14 July, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   14

oops my post will be delayed cos I said the game name we’re not supposed to say…

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:27 pm

We need a new name for it, for the purposes of the blog comments.

    Deathplank?
    Deathcrank?
    Deathshank?

Lagerblad 14 July, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   15

Anything for + members? …..

johnleonhart 14 July, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   16

Lol @James. Think I will need to try out the Blur demo.

Chaosprower 14 July, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   17

Why does the USA get new PS+ content every week and we only get it once a month?

Anyway, getting DeathSlap.

funkpower 14 July, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   18

Mike, how do I contact you? I need to discuss the 3 months free PS+ I won a couple weeks ago? Thanks.

Oh and nothing for me this week :-(

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:28 pm

Send a message to the PSN account that sent you the code and I’ll log on and check ;)

A trine level? Thats awesome! Wizard! :D

funkpower 14 July, 2010 @ 12:17 pm   20

USA don’t get + content in a 1′er, we do!

AcidCrashX 14 July, 2010 @ 12:17 pm   21

AWESOME PSP UPDATE! nice one Mike. I want to pick up “DressStank” but I’m hoping it’ll be on PN+ soon :)

thanks for your efforts guys

DanteuszPL 14 July, 2010 @ 12:17 pm   22

US PS+ subscribers recieved some free avatars and themes, we got nothing :(

NeVeR__GoNe 14 July, 2010 @ 12:17 pm   23

ok good update

can u give me the Schedule of PS+ ???

AND PS+ US GOT THEIR plus today and they will get a Major update every month plus these Little updates every week

so there got more content then we do ??

thenks >> ^_^

madjock-UK_SCO 14 July, 2010 @ 12:18 pm   24

I want to download death-playful slap but how do I know it won’t be part of PSN plus deal later?

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:29 pm

I don’t know if it would be part of Plus, at the moment brand new games are only released for everyone on the Store as usual though.

Allen_46 14 July, 2010 @ 12:18 pm   25

can you please clear something up for me. for Plus members it said early access to demos. but i haven’t seen any yet i thought we whould get all the demos a week or two before non-plus people

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:31 pm

It’s not for all demos no, it would be for selected demos. As for what they would be and when I couldn’t say I’m afraid, I don’t look after Plus.

PenguinGlen 14 July, 2010 @ 12:18 pm   26

@James: Well, technically I’m not the first to comment. Plus, I deliberately don’t say first to annoy those who would say it. I’m evil. :P

DeathClobber seems interesting… ;)

almighty-slayer 14 July, 2010 @ 12:18 pm   27

I suggest we called it Poospank. Poospank sounds good. Might have to buy that :-)

Trine DLC? Any idea what that is Mikey?

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:32 pm

There are some poo related items and quests in the game, happy hunting :D

All I know is that it’s one additional level.

killah_fury 14 July, 2010 @ 12:18 pm   28

Ultimate banana smoothie

Ingedients:
3 ripe bananas
400ml milk
150g banana or vanilla yogurt
2 tbsp smooth peanut butter
1 tbsp clear honey
3-4 ice cubes

Method
1. Combine everything in a blender and blitz until smooth. Serve immediately.

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:33 pm

Hooray, a recipe…there I was thinking nobody read my blurb before the content list. I’m a happy chappy now :P

Andry89 14 July, 2010 @ 12:19 pm   29

no god of war avatar?

wiiman07 14 July, 2010 @ 12:19 pm   30

Just a question why wasnt the Playstation + Universal across all locales? That is the only reason why I will not be purchasing it.

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:34 pm

I would imagine it’s because each region has a different services offering, as well as store content available.

superman1970 14 July, 2010 @ 12:19 pm   31

No freebies for plus subscribers! mmmmm US network got some :( maybe im very optomistic but a demo of GT5 thats being used at E3 etc or Killzone, would have made my day lol

Totally gonna check out DeadlySpank (is that better, or will it still get deleted), I’m in the mood for a good RPG!

Blur demo? Are you kidding me! Too little, too late!

Protip for Acti: Rellease the demo before the game comes out and bombs in sales….

this store update sucks as usual no new psp games neither any new ps1 games and not even persona 3 portable you guys suck

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:36 pm

There were three full games released this week for PSP, as well as new additions for the Essentials range.

Chaosprower 14 July, 2010 @ 12:19 pm   34

@funkpower

But USA’s PS+ content of these first three weeks combined it’s much more than our whole month’s content.

xchris2008x 14 July, 2010 @ 12:19 pm   35

Stop moderating my comments :(

Bad update again apart from DeathS.p.a.n.k <<< blocked word

good job im getting the new xbox S this friday. :):)

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:36 pm

Did you read James’ comment at the start of the section? ;)

He did explain why they would be some delay fella.

no more PS+ content this week? again the US PS+ subscribers have more content.

D*spank sounds pretty cool tho :)

almighty-slayer 14 July, 2010 @ 12:19 pm   37

I suggest we called it plopspink. plopspink sounds good. Might have to buy that

Trine DLC? Any idea what that is Mikey?

new levels for Trine!! :-D

Omikaru 14 July, 2010 @ 12:20 pm   39

Good week for PSP gamers. Not so good for PS3 gamers.

Good thing I have both. Gonna have to get me some of those Essentials :D

funkpower 14 July, 2010 @ 12:20 pm   40

Now that could be a huge problem, + members could start waiting for content rather then shelling out now? Hmmmmm…… wonder if Sony thought of that?

DarkDeux 14 July, 2010 @ 12:20 pm   41

Now the question: get DeathSpank or wait to be avariable in PSN+?

Kaidith 14 July, 2010 @ 12:20 pm   42

Might be abit late, but hopefully not mike. I noticed if you search “fat princess” on the PS store there are to versions that seem identical, one for £11.99 and the other £7.99. After the perma-price reduction it is now £7.99 but it seems the old one hasnt been taken down, meaning some poor helpless soul could buy the game for £3 more than he should =( this makes me a sad panda (I personaly owned the game from launch but still, i like looking out for the ps community) =). So would be nice if this could be fixed before someone makes that mistake and you get pounded for it. Thanks Mike! hope it all works out

reposted from last store update as it seems to have been missed =)

Kai

JWRillmann 14 July, 2010 @ 12:20 pm   43

Why no new Playstation Plus content? The US had one this week!

GtBunny 14 July, 2010 @ 12:21 pm   44

Not a bad update, I’ll be picking up AfterBurner Climax :)

why does the dlc for trine cost on psn when my steam friend got it for free :(

killzonexx 14 July, 2010 @ 12:22 pm   46

again no usefull update (for me) only alot of things that cost money

1 ps3 demo blur…… come on is there really no new upcoming game that have a demo??

i really hope things will chance in the future

i also hope Playstation plus members will get something special in the future but if i see the lack of good update’s/demo’s on playstation store then i doubt plus users will get something nice either

BuffelBek 14 July, 2010 @ 12:22 pm   47

I’m just waiting for my workday to end so I can get home and buy Death, um, Bumpaddle.

the reason playstation plus in US get content added evryweek is because they get content added 2 their normal store and sony europe doesen’t have enough content 2 give us

Martingutten 14 July, 2010 @ 12:22 pm   49

So, EU get screwded again by SCEE? US get weekly psplus updated. Why won’t sony give us some love, we are after all the ones that are buying the most PS3′s.
You have also broken your promise about PSone-classics you have 4-5 years ago, and we who dosn’t live in UK/US/GR/FR pays more for our systems, so give us videostore and comicstore!
Getting DeathHitter tho =)

hamreus 14 July, 2010 @ 12:24 pm   50

Hey Mike, its very hard to get any answer about Rockband and Rockband network. Cant you just tell why we dont get last weeks Rockband networks songs. Why is this happen time after time in Europe?

    Mike Kebby 14 July, 2010 @ 12:47 pm

We can only release what is submitted to us I’m afraid, I imagine whatever you believe is missing will be added in subsequent weeks.
