It’s been almost six months since our massive online shooter, MAG, was released to stores all over the world, and the team here at Zipper Interactive is celebrating by giving something back to fans who continue to support our game and its community.
That “something” we’re passing along is also something that many of you have been asking us for with great enthusiasm for months. And so, it is with great pleasure, that I announce that starting today — right this moment in fact — that all maps in our “Sabotage” game mode are going “Faction Neutral!” If you ever wanted to play against the Valor PMC as a member of the competing Raven Industries on a map that belonged to the third faction, SVER, that option is now yours! We’d like to think of it as a way to experience existing content in an all-new way, and we hope you feel the same.
The best part? You don’t have to download a thing to do it. We’ve already set everything up so that all you have to do is log on to the game, select the Sabotage game mode with whatever your PMC of choice may be, and have fun. It’s just that simple.
We hope you enjoy this gift to you as much as we enjoy giving it, and once again, want to thank each and every one of you who have supported MAG in its first half-year. Hopefully, you’ll like what we have in store for the second-half just as much.

We hope you’ll change your mind once you see what is coming over the next six months. This game is only going to get bigger and better!

A nice idea, so basically it will make it even more impossible to win a domination on SVER’s map

Fantastic Zipper! Great to see the support for this game!
NOW I would like to know how the population for this game is. How many do play this today. Great to know because I would love to see a Second MAG game in a few years down the road!

Thanks niked. We’ve got plans to bring players back to MAG over the coming months, so hopefully things will pick up soon.

not sure i get it completely..does that mean we can chance PMC’s at any point now or what? guess i’ll check it out later today, been playing mw2 again since the new mappack but in general MAG is probably my favorite online console shooter so far..the communication and the whole platoon based setup is far beyond anything we’ve seen on consoles so far, and at first i didnt even realise..didnt like the beta but totally got into it on the fullgame, almost down to 300 hours now and i still love it, id love to see some more content and maps for sabotage, since its the only mode i play, but from the sound of it this should add to the variety as well..back to MAG, mw2 can wait:p keep up those updates guys!

It actually means that you stay in the same faction, but you can now play an Sabotage map as attacker or defender, regardless of the faction you’re in. This effectively increases the number of game options available to you by three … for free!

hurry up zipper, i need more content, more trophys, more maps, guns skill trees, classes, comunity intergration, more game modes, more players to kill. Seriously have a word with Sony about banging out some more major marketing dollars/euros/pounds. MAG is by far one of the best shooter. took me 415 hrs to platinum the game and the dlc trophys and i need more excuses to get bak into the game as i’ve been catching up on other stuff and if you release more content soon i dont think my itchy trigger finger could take it. i’d have to give in and rack up some more kills to add to the 25,000 + i’ve already killed.

Rest assured Dante, plans are in motion…

how about fixing the upwards of 20 minutes to find a game wait!
zipper u need to do something to get players back into the game…my suggestion new maps! (for free, intradiction is a rip off, not sure if the game mode is fun ofcourse as after half hour of waiting to join a game i gave up on it)

We’ve created initiatives such as double XP Directives to encourage more players into Interdiction. Combined with the other things we have planned down the line, we’re hoping player numbers will start to pick-up and the game will be returned to its rightful glory!

well put it this way, me and my mate are planing on playing this tonight on our games night (something we get to do now once a fortnight) if we spend as long in the lobby as we do in the game were liable to cease playing, this is a shame as this is much better game then COD, you have created a really decent game but with out the player numbers it really is dieing, double xp is ok, gaming with the developers is a novel approach, but you need to advertise it more. make a load of new guns and maps and release them free one a week on psn that way mag will show its supported and people will see it in the latest section week after week. raise the level cap add more skills, a few more trophys for those that are motivated by such.
unless something is done soon this game will just die

Any chance of Move or 3D support (for tutorial/training/small group map only?) in the future?

Dear zipper, i know u have been getting great responses over the faction neutral sabotage but the people that don’t like it dont give feedback, they quit… i have around 650hours of gameplay myself and loved sabo but where first u cant choose which map u play i understand to avoid people playing 1 map but now players have no more control over what they wanna do… before if i wanted to defend raven i could have gone to raven after veteran, etc. the veteran mode itself has now become even more useless… coming online today i notice half my clan is back to modern warfare cause they all hate the new faction neutral system.. and is there no option for a sabo map pack cause i wasted 10$ on interdiction cause no one plays it i know its a cheap way to innovate the game but is there no option for an update to switch between normal map rotation and faction neutral so the players that loved mag the way it was can at least have the same expirience?

Great news, a lot of early complaints were with map balancing, it’s great to see Zipper are listening by making things faction neutral, now people (including myself) can’t complain about unfair advantages.
I’m strictly a Domination & Interdiction player, this will make me try Sabotage again because I only played it if I had to.

well we tried the double xp directives but half hour wait between games ment we decided to go in domination with out double xp so we could actualy play a game!!!
double xp directives does not work ! (fix it by making it look for a different game type if you havent found a game in 15 minutes ( a very long time when your sat there waiting to play something! but better then half hour)

thinking about it here is a perfect way to make more people use directives, for every game the person is active in (to stop people just sitting in directives when not actualy playing) you give the person one faction reward point, create some guns and equipment that are either differently skinned or just unique that the player can unlock with faction award points , better incentive allow the player to spend the faction reward points to raise there gear limit for one week by something small say 400 points that will allow a player to be truely rewarded for deploying in directive mode instead of a bit of xp that most long term players dont need and aint worth the wait time to get.
wonder if they actualy read these comments past the day of posting?

yes jfontyman great that they wanna listen to the complaints and respond to em but if u work for zipper google the problems players talked about and u will see that the unbalanced maps have nothing to do with sabotage but all to do with domination and the position of the bunkers and turrets… instead of making those big maps faction neutral they took the good sabotage and switched that so now even sabo is screwed…

how about fixing the stuff that’s wrong with the game in the first place, like the utterly abysmal hit detection, and the ridiculously knifing? seriously, i’ve been stabbed from about 20 arms lengths away, and yet knifed through somebody right in front of me and it doesn’t register… from the headset chatter i know i’m not the only one experiencing bullets bending rounds walls and so on. it’s almost impossible to get a game of acquisition or interdiction because there isn’t enough players. every patch seems to make the game worse. i finally got to level 60 with raven, and from about level 46 onwards it was no fun at all.. the thought of enduring it over again without something much more interesting isn’t remotely appealing. i switched to sver but had enough by level 5.

do you think, you could do an update for the people using bipods on weapons, instead of just mounting on the floor, allow it to be mounted on boxes or a wall, for it to be more realistic?

i agree with 14, overall the faction neutral maps might add to the variety, on the other hand it takes away choices..im a defensive sabotage-only player myself, and now we cant even decide wether to attack or defend..i had to search two or three times to get in a defending game with my pmc at the time, now i pretty much always come up in an attacking game.. an option to choose the map and wether you wanna attack or defend on it, wouldve been better, now i find myself searching game after game (mostly coming up in an attacker room) even more than before..so in a way there’s even less choice for people who like to play a certain mode or style in general..now the only thing that makes the three pmc’s different is their weapons..not the maps anymore..still, respect for all this free updating, it can’t always turn out good for everyone i guess..
