Before we get into the bones of the update, there is some meat to attend to first (I apologise for the analogy used there). I’m referring to an addition being made to the store via the Firmware update 3.41 that appeared yesterday.
Firmware update 3.41 adds recommendations for games on PlayStation Store, so when you’re browsing the description details of a title, you’ll also see an additional “You May Like” section. This section will list additional items based on purchases of other users … how you’d expect a recommendation system to work really. So you’ll start to see great titles that may have passed you by, or that you’ve forgotten about, therefore adding another dimension to your store experience – more peer power!
Please note that while the 3.41 update has been released, the recommendations feature on PlayStation Store is slated to go live by the end of July.
Okay, now onto the content this week:
As you can see from the above image an old friend returns (for the first time on PlayStation since 1995); Earthworm Jim HD is a remake of the old classic – which I may add was hard as nails, I never actually completed it – and features all the old favourite characters and levels, but now comes with added HD shininess, additional levels and a multiplayer mode. I for one am I very excited, and will be doing my best to actually complete it this time!
We have two additions to the PSone roster on the store; Pong and Rayman 2: The Great Escape. I know it’s been quite a wait to get Rayman 2 onto the store, and we’re very pleased to say that it’s now available, so grab your copy and help Rayman defend his world against the pirate invasion! As for Pong, you know what to expect and it needs no further explanation really, other than this version (originally released in 1999) comes with 3D graphics and power-ups.
That’s not all for PS3 though, we have the Madden NFL 11 demo for instance as well as much more; I refer you to the full list below for the full details.
As for your PSP needs this week there are two Harry Potter games available, a demo for Worms: Battle Islands, and four new titles added to the Essentials range. Not forgetting the three new minis that are also available.
As ever, leave your comments and I’ll be around to address what I can.
Cheers.

A thread dedicated to PlaystationPlus. If you look at the beginning, we are all excited by it, extremely pleased by the offer. Then the US start to complain, as we had more content at the beginning. I guess they aren’t used to it, as we are normally woefully behind. But around halfway through the thread it changed, with Eu folks complaining. Complaining with reason, that we have paid more, and are now behind. And the situation got worse this week. These are genuine concerns, and I believe you should check them over. My name on there is Copyright by the way, just so you know.
I hope to see a response, and that more content is added to next months, or distributed similar to the US. That doesn’t mean string out the same content, as that would look poor. That means add content, and then distribute it throughout the month. I would suggest add one more PSN game and a mini.
But I think we deserve, as payback, the 3 months extra the US got ontop of LittleBigPlanet, which some can’t download. I know its a bit extreme, but it would have been nice to have the choice in the first place, but now I think you need to payback the customers with either some more content or 3 months extra to the people who signed up within the first week.

you know whats bothering me the most
the demo’s we got this week and one called FLOWER
i checked playstation store and februari 2009 this game was also there for downloading full game
so almost a year later we get another demo of that game?
is there really not a single exclusive new upcoming demo instead of flower?? come on this is bad!

Not quite sure where to write this but anyway, I just downloaded rayman 2 off the store and copied it onto my PSP, I tried to play it but the cutscenes have no picture, the sound is glitchy and the game runs in like super slow-mo.
Should I try re-downloading it?

They dont seem to care on here after x amount of comments. And I would say try to re-download it, and check you have the latest update. Odd issue!

I think there is an error in de NL (Netherlands) store. Fat Princess is €9,99. But when I use the search option (search: Fat Princess) it lists it at €14,99

Could be a temporary error, or maybe its changing, taking a while to show up. I would wait a bit
And thats ok bluescopian4, anytime.

Cut SCEE some slack, Earthworm Jim and Rayman 2 are very good PS1 games. And i love it that they added a new “most popular” in the PS store which makes it so much easier to find better content.
All that is lacking is Crisis Core – FF7 for digital download, TONNES more PS1 games and 3rd party arcade games which PSN is sorely lacking (the original Sonic’s for example).
SCEA give PS+ content on a weekly basis, SCEE give it on a monthly basis (LEARN THE DIFFERENCE). Personally i prefer to receive it in one big bundle because you have more time to play this content rather than get drip fed it every week. As long as the content matches (or is as good as) im not complaining.

@brendude
However, SCEAs next month, has started before ours. How about you learn to read, previous explanations of PS+ that state only 1 premium game comes each month, therefore, there month has started before ours.
Plus, if you could count across a calender. It has been 4 weeks since PS+ was launched, and people have subscribed. It was never advertised that it would be a calender month, only a month, and that is what SCEA have received, but not EU.

now after checking i see the US ps+ has now got just over a 100 items and EU still have 14. and im not even counting the SF avater pack as seperate items. this is getting stupid now and as for the language and region problems thats bull because everything that is being released for plus is stuff that was there anyway it just had the price changed to free or reduced.

I really hope that the strategy for EU plus is to release bigger monthly updates rather than medium sized weekly ones. Otherwise it’s going to be a bit controversial.

@brendude
You need to learn that most of us pay attention to the us store, they have weekly updates and have had much more than us now. Yes they have added some good games, granted. But its like they’ve taken the money and don’t care, which isn’t going to get any repeat customers.
Also Most Popular section being useful? I’d call a demo section useful!!!

Quick question; given that Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is getting an iOS release (confirmed at E3), is there any indication it will ever be released digitally on the PSN?

So when are we getting Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and the Street Fighters avatars over here in Europe anyway?

This is the most relevant place i can find to post this…
Well, i for one, have pretty much had it with Sony, the inferior EU store, PSN as a whole and the new EU PS+ service compared to the US.
I’m so frustrated right now after reading the US stores updates for the last few months and comparing them to our store updates. Which region buys more ps3s weekly? Europe. What region gets shafted by sony weekly. Europe. Why do we get less stuff? Why is there no movies store as in the US? Why do we get the majority of content later the the US (that apply’s to retail aswell). Why? Because you can’t seem to do anything right, for example one thing your loyal fans have asked for is cross game chat, yet you can’t even do one simple update to treat your fans and seem to send out mandatory firmware updates of your own liking. Why was this blog created? I see know point for it. “I’ll pass on your feedback to the relevant people” is all i seem to see! next comment…

I bet sony executives are at they’re desks scratching they’re heads wondering why 360 is outselling them as the closing gap between the two has yet again started the turn and grow wider in the last few weeks. Well, i’ll tell ya. Because of the stupid decisions you lot make, your obvious love for money over the loyalty and respect you should show your costumers, the fact that you can’t seem to stick by and follow through on many of your ideas (e.g. Home, ps plus EU, this blog). I am one of the many in Europe who bought the new 360 on release and after 3 or so weeks of use i am left wondering why the hell i was such a devoted Sony fan for so long without even contemplating buying its main competitors console. Well i am so happy i got sick of your idiotic ways of doing things and your disrespect of European Ps3 and PSN customers. And if you don’t cop on and realise your mistakes now they’re will be many to follow as i’m sure there was before me. next comment…

PS + has only been out a month and you can’t even show the same courtesy to the EU subscribers as to US subscribers. You give them weekly updates (plus way more stuff) on time. Yet you can’t stick to it here in Europe. And why do we not get a subscription to first play as the US get Qore for free. I am so glad i didn’t buy this sham of an attempt of an premium PSN service.
I’m so sick of being envious of US customers just because i live in Europe and because i bought into and invested thousands into your console, games, accessories and PSN content. I am so disappointed with myself that i stuck with Sony through it all and i wish i could take that money and reinvest it into the 360 and be done with all your anoying little problems that you just will not seem listen to fans and and spend the time to fix, such as, in no particular order… next cooment…

No cross game chat
Mandatory firmware updates & game updates
The GBs of storage missing because of install, game updates etc.
Time spent unable to play console due to these updates
100 friends list cap
The state of the EU PS store
The mockery that is PS+
Delayed DLC
Racism & and abuse on psn
no real improvments to home
Overpriced PS store content (ps1 games should be no more than €2.99, Minis no more than €5, and why is most DLC add-ons cheaper on live?)
No ps2 classics
No movie store in the EU
No TV shows in the EU
No comic store
General lack of content
No free new avatars
US gets demos first
Unable to delete throphys with 0%
Like 5 full games in the EU store (arrrrrrrr) [DELETED]? ARE YOU TRYING TO STOP THE MONEY COMING IN?

How do you expect to make money if you won’t give us what we want and fix the rest of those silly little problems?
I for one won’t invest one more penny sonys way and that goes for 3 other people i know (including one person who spends up to €40 a week on the store). Me who has bought over a hundred games and some PSN content including the €200 euro of content i was going to buy and i was going to get a ps slim and a €200 psn card, but not now! Hmm. Please cop on before you loose all your most loyal fans like you lost me and my friends!

Oh and you better do one hell of a PS+ plus monthly updatde with 85 or so items and discounts or there will be an uprising and many demands for refunds. Its all gonna come tumbling down on your heads SCEE, you silly little buggers! And sorry for all the comments but i am extremely Angry that i wasted over three thousand Euro on your stupid fat machine !

Seriously, when is the EU PSN store going to get the Gundemonium collection? It’s been over a month now and we still haven’t gotten it, I mean, what the f***?
