Three new minis this week, all from BIGBEN INTERACTIVE. If you’re a fan of classic arcade and puzzle games then this is your week.
Tetraminos

So you thought you were the ‘pro’ of arcade games? Swot up on your classics!
6 shapes of 4 blocks that drop without ever stopping, lines to complete and make vanish, 3 levels of difficulty, static blocks to hinder your progress and gradually increasing speed… There’s nothing like a bit of quick thinking to get rid of the stress.
Labyrinth
In this game the carnivorous plants have been let out! To escape from their insatiable appetite, you must devour all the seeds in the labyrinth, trick them, change direction, accelerate, go down the secret passages and eat up all the magic fruit to increase your strength and become the new predator of the labyrinth.
Brick Breaker
In this ultimate version of the classic there are 50 levels in classic mode, 12 levels in dual paddle mode, dozens of unusual bonuses, a rocket launcher, bouncing balls, a platform hazard, a screen that will make you go crazy… It’s a must for anyone who loves playing this type of game.

Wait!
Is Labyrinth Pac Man in disguise? (But not Pac Man for legal reasons).
Honestly, if you calculated to amount of time I have spent gaming in my life, the lions share would have been on Pac Man…..opps sorry Labyrinth’esque type games.

Imitation must be the sincerest form of flattery for this studio!
How about a proper licence of Pacman?

Yey my 1st ever reply! im not sure if this is a ‘minis’ or playstation classic question, but have you ever heard of the game, ‘the lost vikings’ i think it was released around 1993, i was just wondering if there could be any word on that being released as a mini or a playstation content / arcade hit on the PSN at anytime in the forseeable future. i know its a long shot, but i thought id ask lol.
thanks for passing on my postive comments, keep up the good work.

Presumably the games will have English text not French?
(i.e. ‘Level’ not ‘Niveau’, ‘Lives’ not ‘Vies’, etc.)

Oui, il y aura une version anglaise disponible sur le Store anglais

Now Mr.Grant, you say Pac-Man C.E. is on it’s way – does this mean we should expect it within the following weeks or months?
Any more news on that particular (and mysteriously evasive) title would be appreciated

These suffer from the same problem all minis have; they’re over-priced. These are essentially 1 buck, quid or whatever iphone games go for these days, priced way higher. Say if these were half the price, I’d probably pick them all up on a whim. At this price, even though it’s not actually high per se, I probably won’t get any of them. It’s all about perception of what titles such as these should cost, and the iStore set that price.
At least you had the decency of pricing them among the cheaper minis, which is a good move. Most minis are vastly over-priced, these are just a bit over-priced.
Anyway, my point was, I think you’d probably sell a lot more if you priced these at an impulse buy price.
Aw, expletive it, I’ll probably get the breakout clone. I’m programming one of those myself right now, so maybe I can pick up some inspiration.

Okay, so here’s a follow up. I went ahead and got the breakout clone Brick Breaker. I must say I’m disappointed. It’s probably the most boring breakout clone I’ve played, and I’ve played quite a few. The controls are right, that’s a big plus. The other breakout clone mini was unplayable due to the loose controls. They’re good in this. That said, the game has no sense of speed whatsoever. I felt like it was running in slow motion. There’s no increase in speed here for each time the ball hits the paddle like a game such as this should have. Moreover, the power-ups are nothing special if you’ve played any other modern clone. I give it a 2.5 of 5 stars.

Having just bought Brick Breaker i have to agree with Orusaka above, this is a very disappointing mini. A bland, uninspired clone of all those free desktop games.
I really enjoyed Break Quest on the other hand, it has character, unique level design and and quirky audio – sure the controls took some getting used to but it’s more manageable on PS3 than PSP. I found it challenging even on easy mode but i always wanted one more go and i finished all 100 levels so it’s not unplayable
Keep working on your own breakout clone Orusaka, who knows we might see some of your work here in the future
