PlayStation Home: Toy Story 3 And More!

Countries: , , , ,

The inner child in me went “squee!” when I first saw the personal space based on Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 3. So it’s with much joy that I can confirm the much-asked-for “Andy’s Room” personal space releases this week! Upon entering the space you’ll be transported to the world of Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the other toys owned by Andy Davis. Packed with mini-games and fun interactive elements, Andy’s Room is a must-have addition to your personal space collection. To get the ultimate experience, pick up a costume of one of the much-loved characters from the movie.

The Midway carnival space has proved a massive hit since release, with huge numbers of carnival rewards being picked up every day. This week we release the Trigger Happy In-A-Box arcade cabinet, which you’ll be able to place in any of your personal spaces to bring the fun of the carnival home. If you’ve already bought the key to unlock access to this cabinet in Darla’s Den, you’ll get a discount.

Elsewhere in Home, we have a large variety of new content available from the stores. Those who have previously picked up the Neptune Suite personal space will be delighted with the range of furniture items launching this week. This week’s collection includes seating and tables, such as the “Spider Legs collection” and some framed art for your walls.

Last week we released the first batch of Monkey Island 2 content to the stores. There’s more this week, expanding the range of piratical content with some great new headwear. Watch out for the bundle pack coming soon, which will include all of the Monkey Island 2 content. Talking about hats reminds me of hair … Visit the Playground store this week to go mad with a variety of ‘80s hairstyles!

MonkeyIsland 2

Last weekend we saw a surge in the population of red scorpions in the Sodium space. We’ve been warned to expect a similar population explosion this weekend, so make sure you have your stomp boots to help cull the population! With so many red scorpions around, this is the perfect opportunity to unlock upgraded stomp boots.

As some may have already seen on the Message of the Day, we will be removing the ability to buy balls for the Supa-Fun Robo-Goalie Time!! mini-game during Thursday’s maintenance. Those who still have balls, or bought balls recently, will have until July 29th to use them, when we remove this game to make way for a new feature. This won’t be the end for the Robo-Goalie though, he’ll return later this year.

Finally, as mentioned last week, the Hustle Kings event will be removed during maintenance.

‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update (14th July 2010)

Countries: , , , ,

PSstore_Logo

Deathspank. I doubt I’ll ever get to start another blog entry, or any other piece of writing, with that word again (even though it’s a made up compound word, it’s still a valid observation), so I’ll make the most of this. Purely on name alone, this game deserves to be played, however, it’s also a happy coincidence that it’s also a very nifty title. There is death involved, but as yet I’ve found very little spank action. What I have experienced though is a whole lot of fun and I cannot recommend this game highly enough.

Moving on, we have quite a lot of PSP action this week with new content released, as well as a new batch of PSP Essentials. Also, to celebrate the recent successes of our minis range, there are five new releases to get your teeth into too, and a new section on the store highlighting our most successful/favourites called ‘Thanks a Million’, so make sure you take a look.

For the rest, you know the score by now, take a look below, and then leave your insights, comments, and recipe tips in the comments section and I’ll try and duly respond as much as possible.

Cheers.

minis Round Up

Countries: , , , ,

Hi everyone,

We have 5 great new minis playable on both PSP and PS3 launching today ranging from bouncing balls to street crime! Check them out below.

Thanks!
Adam

Archibald’s Adventures from Rake in Grass

Archibald’s Adventures offers a gameplay mixed of action and puzzle elements with gradually rising complexity. You start as a boy on a skateboard in a bunch of easy levels, but that’s just a warm up. Soon you will roll in a robotic vehicle capable of riding on walls and ceilings, you will fly on a jet device or remotely control a mysterious floating bubble able to switch distant mechanisms or transport objects.

With 191 levels, the game will keep you entertained for many hours!

Car Jack Streets from Tag Games

After much anticipation, Tag’s hit game Car Jack Streets explodes onto minis!

Car Jack Streets

The player takes control of Randal Meyers, a petty criminal with a major gambling addiction, who’s found himself in arrears to the Italian mob. Now that his debt has reached the nice round sum of $1,000,000, the mob boss Frankie decides it’s time for Randal to start paying that money back – and quickly!

A nice feature is that the game takes place in real time – meaning if you play the game at 5.00 PM, it’s 5.00 PM in the game. Play in the afternoon and the sun is shining, play at night and the street lights and car headlamps illuminate the city. Some jobs require you to reach a location at a certain time, and some missions will only ever appear at a particular time of day (look out for the killer clowns!)

Pallurikio from Playstos Entertainment

Pallurikio is a fresh platforming game starring a round-shaped hero, Pallurikio, mixing simple puzzles and physics simulation.

Make Pallurikio jump and roll, and help him find his way through more than 50 enticing levels, while surviving all kinds of pitfalls and trickeries he might come across when traversing Bakumbala Jungle, the far reaches of Palluro Prime and many other environments.

Featuring physics simulation, Time Attack mode, collectable cards, and space rockets, Pallurikio is a game on which you won’t want to miss out!

Star Hammer Tactics from Black Lab Games

From independent developer Black Lab Games we have Star Hammer Tactics. The game a tactical battle game, were two sides square off in a battle to the death. It’s set in a sci-fi world in the future, where human settlers on the planet Novus are under attack from an alien race called the Nautilids.

In Star Hammer Tactics, each side has a total of 4 units types – a small fighter, a larger fighter, a medium sized “warship” and a larger “destroyer” class vessel. Larger vessels can fire missiles, so you can devastate your opponent from afar! Smaller vessels have a longer range, and the ability to inflict damaging ‘critical hits’ on larger vessels.

Piyotama from SCEE

Spring has sprung and all through the forest the cheep-cheep of our feathered friends the Piyos fills the air. But up in the treetops things aren’t quite so peaceful.

Mother Piyo is hard at work in her nest, laying the colourful eggs that hatch the lovable baby Piyos. But she’s getting a little carried away and now there are more eggs than her nest box can hold. It’s up to you to help her out, rearranging the eggs to match their colours and hatch the Piyo chicks, making space for new arrivals.

All you have to do is line up four or more eggs of the same colour and give them a little nudge to help the baby birds break through the egg shell.

Easy, right? Don’t be so sure – more and more eggs are being laid all the time so you’ll need to have your wits about you, not to mention super fast reactions as the pace picks up in this highly addictive puzzler.
