Another week comes rolling in and another PlayStation Store update comes in to land with a cargo hold full of goodies.
Our new Plus content (detailed yesterday by James) will be delivered with today’s update, including a trial of the previously BD only inFamous. If you’ve never played it you’re in for a treat – the opening is positively electrifying (HAHAHAHA! Oh dear…) so make sure you give it a go.
What’s in the grab bag this week? In a break from convention we’ll start with the portable content because along with a PSP version of the recently released Groovin’ Blocks, we’ve got a much requested title – Powered by Namco… it’s Ridge Racer! A true classic and still one of the best driving experiences on PSP.
Remember last time you saw me I teased you about one of my favourite PSOne Classics coming to the store? Well brush off your fighting gloves and prepare to beat the heck out of a grown man wearing spandex trousers and a jaguar mask because it’s here, it’s Tekken 2 and, while it’s not quite as fast-paced as more modern fighters, it’s still brilliant.
For your TV’s best friend we’ve got a good selection as well – Gundemonium Collection brings the ‘bullet hell’ genre screaming onto the PSN with three games in one: Gundemonium Recollection; GundeadliGne and Hitogata Happa. If you feel like punishing your trigger fingers and generally view blinking as a waste of time, these are the games for you. Not convinced you need all three games? Well okay, we’ll let you buy them separately too but don’t say we never do anything for you.
Are you among one of the twenty or so people in Europe who hasn’t already played Modern Warfare 2? Well, we’ve got the Cliffhanger demo ready for you – grab your ice climbing gear, it’s gonna get chilly.
LittleBigPlanet takes leave of Plus and becomes available to everyone this week, just in time for the launch of the third set of Marvel Costumes including two of my favourites, Wolverine and Venom.
We’ve got more for Bioshock 2 (single player challenges this time), more for ModNation Racers and another course for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11.
In the grand tradition of Heads Up posts I’ll be here to field your comments as usual so I’ll catch you all in a little while.

The Trinity Universe DLC is in the system, but we can only deliver it as fast as its submitted. You will be getting it, but I’m afraid it can only be delivered once it’s ready. I’ll try and get the process sped up a bit – can’t say fairer than that.

The lovely Square Enix account manager has been talking to them about all kinds of things, including more digital releases of their UMD games and the possibilities Final Fantasy avatars – feedback that’s come straight from you lot. So we’ll have to see what happens.

Yes, I’ve just spotted that and it’s surely a typo – Ross has just popped out but I’m going to clear it up as soon as he gets back.
Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 12:11 pm by James Gallagher
Fixed. Never happened.
Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 12:13 pm by Ross McGrath
All fixed now, thank you James. It’s not a real Head’s Up update without a mistake in it!

Might want to revise that.

Yes yes, we know – correcting now. This is a bit of a loopy Wednesday on the blog in terms of the number of posts so that one slipped through my net/eyes.

Tekken 2 is a great classic
Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 12:18 pm by Ross McGrath
Yeah I’ve been playing it at lunchtimes, it’s still awesome once you get used to the fact fihters used to be slower paced in those days. Not the only awesome classic on its way either. Oooh teasers!

Hey Mike,
Last week you said we would get Capcom avatars soon (Street Fighter, etc.), any idea when?
34
Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 12:09 pm by steven_dutch
Might be tempted to get Tekken 2.
Still, all the PS+ content will keep me occupied for a while.
Thanks for the update Mike.

Please say you’ll never put any of those vulgar themes for PSP and PS3 with virtually naked woman on, that are on the American store. It’s so tacky and I’d hate for our store to have stuff like that. Keep it classy please Mike

Gundemonium. This alone will kill me. Thank you SO much for this update guys, really
But can you spill the beans on if the Resident Evil games can arrive any time soon? Or are you saving it for Halloween?
Also when will the update be live?
Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 12:24 pm by Ross McGrath
Believe me, they’re not being SAVED for anything – if I could deliver you the Capcom PSOne classics tomorrow I absolutely would! We’ve discussed this before and the info is on the Net if you do a little searching as to why we haven’t seen them yet. As soon as we can legally publish the Capcom PSOne classics, we’ll do it.

pretty good update mike, always nice to see a real psone classic, what time is the store going live, will the plus content be at the same time?
47
Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 12:12 pm by SpyDudeFX
Hey James, I joined SCEE Plus mainly for the exclusive dynamic themes your team are producing. At about USD $5 per month, the two exclusive monthly themes are worth it plus the games. So I hope your games don’t overlap too much so I get double the content between both regions

YESSSSSSSS
RIIIIIIDGE RACER.
Now the store has some decent classics for the Ridge Racer fan.Even though i got both the EU and recent the JP version of Ridge Racer on UMD. this will boost the ridge racer community. Aloso Ross. Ridge Racer does work with adhoc party, but Ridge Racer 2 has some issues. might need to get a patch for adhoc to work with it if the devs could.
And being honest here asking you, Have Namco given up on Ridge Racer 7, cause there were rumors of a 3D one for ps3. if they do. tell them that they need to add patch and trophy support to it and Reset the rankings. if they do that then we might get more course DLC.
Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 12:33 pm by Ross McGrath
Okey dokey – I’ll pass all your points onto the Namco Bandai account manager.
