Hi everyone, I’m Ross, Product Manager on Heavy Rain Move Edition. Today we have a world exclusive for you – the very first screenshots for the game which showcase the new PlayStation Move control system.
Heavy Rain has been given a PlayStation Move makeover with a brand new control scheme that gives players the ultimate freedom of control. With PlayStation Move you can really put yourself at the heart of the story more than ever before, and your every decision and every move will make a difference.
Heavy Rain Move Edition will be available to buy pre-Xmas. If you already have a copy of Heavy Rain you’ll be able to download a free update from PSN that’ll let you play the game with the new PlayStation Move controls.
Heavy Rain Move Edition is played using a PlayStation Move motion controller to complete actions and a PlayStation Move navigation controller or DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller to move your character. But if you want the full experience we’d strongly recommend you play with a PlayStation Move motion controller and a navigation controller.
You’ll also be able to play the game with the standard DUALSHOCK 3 controls if you don’t have PlayStation Move.
Stay tuned to the blog as we’ll have a couple of trailers for the game in the coming weeks featuring interviews with Heavy Rain writer/director David Cage and producer Guillaume de Fondaumiere.
That’s all for now, but please feel free to post some questions and I’ll get back to you asap.

I want to add my voice to those wanting the rest of the Chronicles DLC.
I love Heavy Rain, and I will be getting a Move – but even so, I would much rather have some new content than a new control system.
While I’m sure the game will feel quite different, and perhaps even more ‘natural’, with the Move, I have already played the game multiple times and seen all there is to see.
A new control system is unlikely to get me to play the game again, whereas new content would have me going back to it right away. In fact, as much as I loved Heavy Rain, the promise of more extra content is the only reason I’ve kept it so long after completing it.

This game has sold in GREAT numbers, I do not understand why the DLCs are cancelled.
Is it because David Cage didn’t want to work on games anymore (I remember reading something like that).
David Cage, sir, PLEASE listen to us, this game is my favourite PS3 game of ALL time (and trust me, I’ve played a lot of them) so please find the inspiration and the will to give us fans and this wonderful universe the DLC it CRAVES!
This is not just talk, this game is the only game I have ever bought a Special Edition of, so I put my money where my mouth is.
And if on a big chance David Cage never sees this message, someone at SONY, PLEASE pass it on one way or another. Let him know the demand is huge and we love his work.
And SONY, if DLC cancellation is your doing, BAD MOVE, back track on that decision straight away!
Thank you very much.

I appreciate the work you guy’s have done doing this and I’m looking forward to trying it.
I am very disappointed about the cancellation of DLC though, you buy games full price if you think they have some longevity, the promised DLC chronicles were the tipping point for me as I felt they would extend the lifespan of the title for me. In some ways I feel a bit ripped off, as if duped by marketing talk.
However, again I do appreciate the work having gone into this thanks, just a shame we can’t have what we were expecting.

Quite honestly, I was excited about the move being added.
Until the Chronicles being delayed and then, seemingly cancelled.
Not good enough. I’m all for move being pursued, but it should not come at the sacrifice of other projects. Not good enough at all. If I had to choose, I’d take the expansion of the story experience, over just the interface, I think majority of people would. I’m not the only one with this sentiment. I’m sure there’s people in Quantic Dream who even feel the same way.

“Currently these are on hold and we’re focusing on Heavy Rain Move Edition.”
I thought David Cage said we wouldn’t be getting the DLC because he was forced into the Move version instead? and now their doing the next game.
“Our approach was to make no compromise on the quality of the Chronicles and offer exactly the same quality than the original game. So the answer is yes. Chronicles as we saw them were ambitious and with high expectations. As explained, they are on hold to allow the team to work on Move and on new projects, and I doubt they will ever be produced.”

wont be happy if Move support has helped bin the DLC.

@BalramRules
“why a new game?”
that eurogamer article I posted above says
“The updated version of the game will be released at retail later this year and a patch will also be made available to existing owners.”

It’s a shame the DLC was cancelled for this. Was looking forward to the promised DLC (the first was called ‘Chronicles 1′ for a reason).
C’mon Sony, stop being jerks and give us the DLC. It was obvious that David Cage was upset by the forced decision to implement Wii, sorry, I meant Move controls.

Because move killed any new Heavy Rain Chronicles DLC I don´t like this enhanchement. I won´t buy a move and replay the game!
I´m also very disapointed QD wasn´t able to keep theire promis.
Early reviews indicate the move adition is a failer.

Oh c’mon, stop whining.
The truth of the matter is that The Taxidermist didn’t get good reviews and didn’t sell. Things that don’t sell don’t earn future support. It’s simple like that. No matter how YOU want it, it probably wouldn’t happen anyway even if there was no Move.
In that light, it’s better to get a new experience out of this great game thanks to the “gimmick” than end up with absolutely nothing beyond it.

@Stonesthrow
If you have Resident Evil 5 GOLD EDITION, Move support will come in a free patch. Regular Resident Evil 5 owners would need to buy the Gold Edition version. They say that when the original version was released, they didn’t know of Move yet and used some portion of memory that needs to be free for Move recognition. When they prepared the Gold Edition they had the chance to correct the issue.
Myself? I think Capcom knows very well that ‘upgrading’ popular franchises really does work – just see Super Street Fighter IV. Move is a great opportunity to push Gold Edition, and frankly, with the used games market thriving these days, it’s easy enough to get Gold Edition for half the price by putting your regular Resident Evil 5 copy on eBay or some game store. And the extra stuff alone probably is already worth it, so Move support is the icing on the cake.

By the way, people should READ the article. It specifically says that people with Heavy Rain already will get it as DLC.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to implement move controls in this great game, but I would have preferred DLC chapters.
I was really interested in them. More content > move controls.

Why does everyone want DLC?
It would only take away from the already perfect storyline.
I’d much rather the creators concentrated on a sequel; rather than some over-priced unnecessary extra content for a game that’s been out since February.

I haven’t played the game yet, looks like I will have an added bonus when I finally get Heavy Rain.
I think adding ‘move’ support and cracking on with other innovative stuff instead of DLC is better in the long run.

I still believe that theres a good possibility of the DLC surfacing next year if anything, just off the back of the bigger install base QD will gain with the re-release move edition.
I have wondered if they maybe should release the deleted scenes that were never in the final cut? As a die hard fan (Special edition, 4 days challenge, etc), I would love to have the option of downloading these scenes (not at a price i might add!) and playing through the game again. It would instantly offer an incentive for those of us that have played through already.
This in conjunction with the “move” controls would give me serious consideration for investing….
