UPDATE: I’ve just been given the information about a new addition for PlayStation Plus today; Plus subscribers will have two week’s early access to PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap and have a 20% discount on it too. However, if you already own PixelJunk Racers then 2nd Lap is free.
Good afternoon pilgrims, hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Over here in PSN land we have new goodies galore hitting our digital shelves later this afternoon.
As you can gather from the above image, our highlighted piece this week is the game based on the Scott Pilgrim film, which is based on the comic series, which riffs on (and is pretty much based on) popular culture and littered with many game references; don’t you just love a good old full circle?
This game takes cues from the old side-scrolling beat ‘em-ups of yesteryear (such as my favourite, Streets of Rage) and restyles it all with a slice of Scott Pilgrim inanity, as well as reaching the heady heights of 8bit graphics! Don’t worry though; it’s all intentional, and the graphical style is very much part of the game’s charms.
Moving on, yesterday we released the first add-on content pack for Red Dead Redemption. Legends And Killers adds new multiplayer elements, such as additional characters and the new tomahawk weapon, and for those of you looking to add some fresh content to your online gunslinging, now’s your chance.
There’s a few titles released for your PSP this week too, and leading the charge is the first in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series, so get prepared to finely hone those demon collection skills, in this renowned RPG.
The final piece of content I want to highlight is the demo for Mafia II. I managed to spend some time with the team at 2K last week and get my hands on the demo, and had a jolly old time. I played the same demo you’ll all be able to get your hands on today, so I won’t say anything else in case I spoil it, but let me say this – you’ll have a ten minute countdown of free-roam before you have to reach the mission checkpoint, so make the most of cruising round and seeing how much chaos you can cause
Okay, that’s enough of me, now to the matter at hand… the full list. Enjoy!
Have a good week, and I’ll be sure to speak to as many of you as possible in the comments below.

Nothing other than the Mafia 2 Demo for me, which I already got in PlayStation Plus yesterday. So basically, there’s nothing for me.
Although Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World looks brilliant, I will give the trial version a go before I decide to buy it or not.
Thanks anyway Mike!

This has been asked on previous weeks, but I’d like to know when we’ll have the Super Street Fighter IV avatars. We have been waiting this since July, and still nothing, and the US store has many of them.
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:15 pm by Mike Kebby
They are coming, I promise.

Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:16 pm by Mike Kebby
Because that’s the pricing set by the guys who made it…i.e. the Video Store team.

Any word on the upcoming Split/Second DLC? Game update last night so next week perhaps?
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:16 pm by Mike Kebby
It’s a trial and unlock, it does state that in the content list

Hi Mike, good to see you back, also thanks for answering my questions a couple of weeks ago.
South Park theme sounds cool.
If you don’t mind, one more question….
The show “The Tester” was on the US PSN recently, I’ve seen some clips on youtube and it seems cool, any chance we can get it? Also a very cool looking God of War documentary on the actual Greek myths, seems cool…
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:17 pm by Mike Kebby
We won’t be getting The Tester no, it was created for the US store only.
33
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:07 pm by ggctuk
Nothing for me this week…
Any news on getting the classic Tomb Raiders?
34
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:07 pm by mcjazzy42
It’s the update of the original SMT:Persona game..which is about as far away from P3P as you can get. It’s a first person dungeon crawler, but it’s nice to see the game come over here. Hopefully that means Atlus is starting to take notice…two years later.
Scott Pilgrim for me me thinks, though probably too busy playing Blazblue: CS.
35
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:07 pm by Agamer2006
Wasnt there meant to be a demo for Scott Pilgrim?
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:18 pm by Mike Kebby
It’s a trial and unlock, so yes there is a demo and the full game upgrade available
36
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:07 pm by snake-06-

Will we get the demo next week?
37
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:07 pm by guitardevil6
Dragon Age DLC for me!!! Yay! Can’t get enough of this game…but still won’t pay the price for Awakening. Too dear!
Any knowledge on a discount coming for it, since Xbox just slashed the price?
Also, Scott Pilgrim ROCKS!

Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:07 pm by vicheous

Nothing for me this Week!
This has been bugging me for ages but is there any chance of a WipEout HD Demo as i’m looking to buy the full game and i’m unsure whether its worth £18.

Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:08 pm by ROBERTWARNES
I was wondering why when I looked for Persona 3 Portable on the PEGI website I found the original Persona on the PSP instead. Well see you guys in July 2011 for Persona 3 Portable.
41
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:08 pm by Klart
Scott Pilgrim for me, but I hate that the price is the same in EU & US. Ten dollar isn’t ten euro.
42
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:08 pm by JordanBlack68
There is actually something coming, I’m going to update the post shortly.
SWEET!

Mike do you know if there are any plans to bring Iron Maiden’s new album to the PS Store for Rock Band? I might actually pick up Scott Pilgrim, it looks pretty good.
Thanks!

Persona?!
Mike, who is the game’s publisher here in PAL territories?
Anyway.. I’ll give a try to Mafia II and Scott Pilgrim.
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:34 pm by Mike Kebby
Atlus are the guys responsible for publishing here

In the dutch (Netherlands) store we’re missing the “Worms: battle island” demo and “Flatout: head on” for psp (which are available on every other eu store it seems). I am desperate to try worms and buy flatout (since we do in fact have the demo for download). Any help would be apreciated, I really hope you can as the dutch support seems totally unable to do so – telling me to e-mail publishers.
On an even more selfish note – still hoping on a price drop for chinatown wars…
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:35 pm by Mike Kebby
They weren’t submitted for release in your store I’m afraid, sorry.

No Naughty Bear DLC, no Trinity Universe DLC
Curious to see what PSN+ content there will be.

PERSONA BABY!!! ^_^
Awesome update this week Mike, Hope you enjoyed your time off. I’ve been getting my Mike time through Mike Thorton in Alpha Protocol, he isnt quite as good as you but mine somehow looks like Nathan Drake a bit xD
take it easy mate and enjoy that cupcake, my lady made it specially
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:37 pm by Mike Kebby
I loved playing that game, as I felt everybody was addressing me personally. I think it’s also fair to say I deluded myself to think they based the character on me, and life events too

Scott Pilgrim is a must, but it’s hilarious to see the EU store finally gets Persona 1, while the US store got Persona 3 months ago.
The EU store operates in some sort of crazy time warp. It’s 2010 in the US, but here in Europe, we’re rocking it 2007 style!
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:37 pm by Mike Kebby
Persona 3 is not available anywhere in the EU at the moment, so it’s not a surprise that we don’t have it on the store yet.
Posted on 11 August, 2010 at 1:38 pm by Mike Kebby
And there’s nothing wrong with rocking a 2007 style either
