For those not already sick of my blue T-shirt, here’s another video interview direct from gamescom. I managed to get five minutes with Zach Wood, Senior Producer of Sorcery, which is being developed between SCEA‘s Santa Monica Studio and The Workshop.
Sorcery is an action adventure, designed specifically for the PlayStation Move motion controller, where you control a young apprentice wizard forced to master his newly-acquired skills deep in the Faerie Kingdom.
You use PlayStation Move for just about everything in the game, including positioning your wand, casting elemental spells towards your enemies and shaking and drinking bottles of potion that provide unique abilities, such as transforming into a rat to access new areas.
If I was a wizard, I would create clones of myself so I could sit at home playing Pandemonium 2 while they run around Cologne filming interviews (or maybe I already did)…

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work hard on this game!
It’s easily the most interesting utilisation of the MOVE controller I’ve seen so far and would love to see what’s been shown so far into a fully formed game.
I want a good storyline, mixed with Fable-ish RPG elements, quests, side-quests, over-world (slightly open world perhaps?).

They’re working really hard and hopefully we’ll get more insight into the story before too long. I don’t even know anything about it myself…

This is one of the nice surprises at E3 and the game that convinced me about Move. Looking forward to it.

Killzone 3, MAG, SOCOM: Special Forces, Heavy Rain and The Fight should be a good start. Also, I personally recommend you look out for Tumble.

I was kinda disaapointed by the trailer, because some kid was standing and waving a Playstation Move-controller, and suddenly I felt sort of bad for wanting the game… But based on this interview, I don’t feel bad anymore
I love the exploration idea! That’s one of the things that keeps me coming back to a game like GTA IV or LBP. It’s that I’m never really sure whether I actually discovered every cool aspect there is!

It’s not really a trailer, more of a gameplay demo, and you have to remember that it’s a very early build. That being said, the Move functionality works great. We’re really going to have to master how to show off some of these Move games in video, because you really need to see someone play it while watching the vid to appreciate how accurately your motions are replicated by the wand.

LAST!
Great gameplay video. I’m seriously considering getting Move for this game. Add a compelling story and you’ll have a hit.
Keep up the great work!

Hmm, not too sure. The concept is great, but is it necessary to have to open a wheel to change elements? If you want to make a world that someone can immerse themselves in, minor things like changing spells quickly takes you out and makes you realise you are playing a game. Is it not possible to have the elements mapped to the buttons on the Move? Or have different gestures for different spells?
