Well, hello again – fancy meeting you here! It’s update time again and we’ve got some shiny, new PSN offerings for you, so without further ado let’s get on with the main event.
As you can see from the handsome fellow in this week’s post image, Alien Breed: Impact hits the EU PSN this week. An HD remake of the awesome Amiga classic, ‘Alien Breed’ (what do you mean, “What’s an Amiga?”) you and a friend can take on hordes of nasty space critters locally or online, in an effort to get from point A to point B for some reason or another. Still, it’s the journey that matters, not the destination, which is especially true when you have LASERS on the journey and are wading through piles of fresh alien corpses. Make sure you grab the free trial and try it for yourselves. In other news, Sam and Max conclude their journey into the Devil’s Playhouse this week – you can grab the final episode when we update, or if you’re a Plus subscriber, grab yourself the whole Season.
The previously Plus-only demo of Ubisoft’s R.U.S.E. hits for the rest of you today – command your army and deceive the enemy before nuking them into the stone age. If real-time strategy isn’t your cup of tea, SEGA’s Vanquish is on display for you to wrap your controllers around. What better way to spend your time than blasting malevolent robots into a bajillion pieces from the comfort of an incredibly powerful super-suit with an arsenal of weaponry at your fingertips? I would suggest taping your jaw shut before playing though because otherwise your mouth is going to be hanging open from start to finish – it’s looking extremely impressive.
In the world of downloadable content we have: two new costumes and challenge sets for Red Dead Redemption; a new single-player episode for BioShock 2 in which you get to take on Minerva, Rapture’s equivalent of an evil super-computer; more courses for Tiger 11; a batch of booster packs for Trinity Universe; more weapons and game modes for Kane and Lynch 2; more cars and decals for Split/Second and the opportunity to get yourself up to two extra characters slots in MAG. Phew.
PSP owners will be pleased to hear that Valkyria Chronicles II hits the store this week, along with a new Valhalla Knights title and the movie tie-in, Despicable Me: The Game.
On top of that we’ve got three new minis and a cut-price bundle of DynoGems and Tehra, plus a couple of PSOne Classics, including the much anticipated Front Mission 3 and Tomb Raider for one and all. Of course the minis and PSOne titles will all work on your PS3 as well.
That’s all you’ll get out of me this week – if you want to know more you’ll have to catch me in the comments. TTFN!

Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:04 pm by Ross McGrath
That’d be a question for the Video store team I’m afraid, we don’t manage the Video Store.

When will we be getting Castle Crashers?
Also will we be getting Sonic Adventures on the 15th september like xbox live arcade?
Thanks for the reply if any
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:07 pm by Ross McGrath
Sonic Adventure should be hitting the PSN at around the same time. Castle Crashers is coming in the next few weeks, I don’t have a date I can give you yet I’m afraid.

When are PSP Essentials coming to the Australian PSN Store? A date would be appreciated please. I am sick of hearing, REALLY soon.
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:05 pm by Ross McGrath
TODAY! It’s TODAY!
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:10 pm by Ross McGrath
Just to clarify that most of the first-party PSP Essentials and a good chunk of the third-party PSP Essentials will be hitting AUS/NZ in today’s update. If it’s available on UMD then a digital version should be available. More will be showing up as we go forward.

Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:04 pm by Jimmirock
Oh sweet, might get Aqua Panic. I remember it being billed as a LocoRoco/Lemmings killer. It was okay though. I sold my UMD of it (with a different name) but it had buckets of charm and was really playable. Yea. I’ll get that.
.
Tomb Raider! Good seeing it up there. But I already have Anniversary
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:08 pm by Ross McGrath
Yeah Aqua Panic is really under-rated. It’s a lot of fun – never been a better time to grab it either!

Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:04 pm by Ikkarus
Front Mission is awesome news.
I have Valkyria Chronicles on order already but I honestly can’t wait to play it. Loved the original.
I’ll be honest and say it’s all about Vanquish though. Will download that as soon as I get home from work!
16
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:04 pm by GaMeVoLt
Only thing I wanted was the Vanquish demo but i got that last night from the US store

Alien Breed: Impact looks good

Yeah, Alien Breed is really good fun – can’t recommend it enough. Very refreshing to see some online co-op as well!

Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:05 pm by Moogrose
Thanks for the heads up. A decent update, if only for VC2.
I’ll keep banging on about psp game pricing though – chinatown wars is stil 35 euros, at retail its 15. Valkyria Chronicles can be ordered for 26 euros on UMD. I can understand the prices on new games, but surely the older games need prices adjustments for us GO owners?
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:14 pm by Ross McGrath
Mike regularly has pricing discussions with all the publishers for both old and new content and he echoes all your sentiments to them, but as usual, it’s their choice whether to make any adjustments.

Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:07 pm by Diablo_Rosso
Just some Plus stuff then. Any news on Tekken 3 Ross?
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:18 pm by Ross McGrath
I know you’re all desperate for it! I’ve been asking Namco but not had any news yet. As I said before if Tekken 2 does well you’re more likely to see it.

Bioshock 2 DLC & Vanquish demo for me this week.
What is Resi 5 Untold Stories? Is that the thing that was added to the Gold Edition? I’m getting the Move version when it comes out so I’m just checking I don’t need to buy this…
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:20 pm by Ross McGrath
It’s the two DLC levels, ‘Lost in Nightmares’ and ‘Desperate Escape’ plus a selection of skins for Mercenaries.

Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:07 pm by valkyrio

Na, he was even here last week thread bombing me… He’s properly not here this week though. He’ll be back with you next week for sure, because I’m on mah holidays!

Na, don’t know anything about that.
…Yargh.

Ross, I’m on holiday this week, so could you make up a comment for me and then reply to it? Thanks.
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:41 pm by Ross McGrath
Heh it’s far too tempting an offer. I appreciate the sentiment but you had better come up with your own questions.

At what time (GMT) does the PS Store update?
I find myself spending too much time waiting around for it to happen.

Well we were put back a bit by the bank holiday but I would say by 4PM local UK time.

I still got my ‘Amiga 1500′
+We need more PSOne games(the Japan store has millions’ish)and PS2 games on PSN? (Why are PS2 games ignored for? There must be some way of getting all those excellent old PS2 games on PSN somehow?)
Posted on 1 September, 2010 at 1:49 pm by Ross McGrath
We’re doing our best with the PSOne games. A lot of those PSOne games were published in Europe by different publishers, many of which no longer exist and so it takes time to secure the rights to publish again. I reailse it’s frustrating for you guys but you have to remember that the US is one big country with one license for one area and Europe isn’t.
Don’t worry, there are many more in the pipeline and as always, your patience is appreciated.

A rather nice update this week! Been really enjoying the Sam & Max series and I hear the Bioshock 2 DLC story is better than Bioshock 2 itself!

All looking good, thanks for the update. Was wondering if there are any plans to add PS2 Classics to the store at all in the future? Also any news on the rest of the Tomb Raider PS1 titles becoming available for PSN or PS Plus users soon?
