Well, hello again – fancy meeting you here! It’s update time again and we’ve got some shiny, new PSN offerings for you, so without further ado let’s get on with the main event.
As you can see from the handsome fellow in this week’s post image, Alien Breed: Impact hits the EU PSN this week. An HD remake of the awesome Amiga classic, ‘Alien Breed’ (what do you mean, “What’s an Amiga?”) you and a friend can take on hordes of nasty space critters locally or online, in an effort to get from point A to point B for some reason or another. Still, it’s the journey that matters, not the destination, which is especially true when you have LASERS on the journey and are wading through piles of fresh alien corpses. Make sure you grab the free trial and try it for yourselves. In other news, Sam and Max conclude their journey into the Devil’s Playhouse this week – you can grab the final episode when we update, or if you’re a Plus subscriber, grab yourself the whole Season.
The previously Plus-only demo of Ubisoft’s R.U.S.E. hits for the rest of you today – command your army and deceive the enemy before nuking them into the stone age. If real-time strategy isn’t your cup of tea, SEGA’s Vanquish is on display for you to wrap your controllers around. What better way to spend your time than blasting malevolent robots into a bajillion pieces from the comfort of an incredibly powerful super-suit with an arsenal of weaponry at your fingertips? I would suggest taping your jaw shut before playing though because otherwise your mouth is going to be hanging open from start to finish – it’s looking extremely impressive.
In the world of downloadable content we have: two new costumes and challenge sets for Red Dead Redemption; a new single-player episode for BioShock 2 in which you get to take on Minerva, Rapture’s equivalent of an evil super-computer; more courses for Tiger 11; a batch of booster packs for Trinity Universe; more weapons and game modes for Kane and Lynch 2; more cars and decals for Split/Second and the opportunity to get yourself up to two extra characters slots in MAG. Phew.
PSP owners will be pleased to hear that Valkyria Chronicles II hits the store this week, along with a new Valhalla Knights title and the movie tie-in, Despicable Me: The Game.
On top of that we’ve got three new minis and a cut-price bundle of DynoGems and Tehra, plus a couple of PSOne Classics, including the much anticipated Front Mission 3 and Tomb Raider for one and all. Of course the minis and PSOne titles will all work on your PS3 as well.

Nice update. Sam & Max might be fun. Ill give that a go. Same with Alien Breed. I liked it on ye olde Amiga (my first girlfriend

You indicated something about talk like a pirate.. its around the PS Move release.. please make a Move compatible Monkey Island.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned before, but could you please add the file sizes of all PSP games to the store. I really don’t want to find out how big something is after I’ve bought it, especially if it turns out I haven’t got the space for it.

Aqua Panic was better than I remembered. It’s really tough and just fun to play. Now the hype has died down theres a really good gem of a game.
The music annoys me to no end though. It’s just irritating! You can tell they’ve gone for a Locoroco vibe but they missed the mark so much.

i think the last thing i bought from the store was the general knoxx dlc for borderlands, and probably the next will be the claptrap revolution dlc for the same game! soon i hope!
i thought the vanquish demo was garbage.. might just be me, but it reminded me a lot of lost planet 2 (didn’t like that either). sure, a bit faster and a bit slicker, but ultimately it just involved pumping insane amounts of the bullets into big things (insects in LP2′s case, robots in this).

different national laws apply to digital commerce. germany isn’t the UK, so there can’t be a universal store.
and if you take for example a game like demons souls – this has completely different publishers in europe, japan, and the US. none of them has any rights for the game in any other region, and that situation is common enough, that everywhere still wouldn’t get the exact same stuff.

Yes it‘s true different international laws for different region‘s, but it funny M$ can have a universal store & we cant. M$ would have the same problems different international laws.
but yet they do it better in short M$ can do it much better, & *sony as a whole Can‘t.
* you notice i did Not said about SCEE the problem is SCEJ eg. why we don‘t get features in Firmware, & why SCEE & SCEA cant do or help out with the update it the same the reason with universal store.

Alien Breed has no voice chat, making online play practically useless. Like many other ‘online’ games on PSN. When are Sony going to roll out a decent gamers network? (Yeah, I know you’ll just ignore this, as Sony perpetually ignores us gamers with our incessant requests, never delivering on what was promised for the future when PS3 was released).

Tonight was the first time i’ve logged into my PS3 since early 2008, but still am disappointed to see no psone resident evil classics available to buy. Would you have any knowledge if these are ever going to become available? Would be a shame to have to hunt my attic for the ps2 and ebay for the games.
