Hi everyone – I’m afraid I need to share some news from Media Molecule about the release date of LittleBigPlanet 2…
LittleBigPlanet 2 is a crazy dream, a dream to allow players to make whatever kind of game they want, but also to play though a great adventure of drama and excitement, power-ups and cinematics. But like all the most ambitious ideas, it can be a considerable challenge to turn these dreams in fun games. We’ve all been working like powered-up space ninjas and we’re almost there, but because we love what we’ve made, and we love our little sack-friends, and most of all we love all our fans out there, we couldn’t let you all get together until we knew we were giving you the best experience imaginable. Which is why we’ve taken the hard decision to delay the worldwide release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally slated for later this year to January 2011.
We know this will come as disappointing news for all you LittleBigPlanet fans, and believe us, we are disappointed too. We are a tight-knit team and we take enormous pride in our work, so to raise the bar we’ve set with the original LittleBigPlanet, a game that has been so embraced by all, we’ve agreed to allow ourselves a bit more time to deliver the experience that our great fans and community deserve. We are truly sorry, but hope you understand that we have to build the best possible game, as it is the foundation of our community.
On the upside, we are going to find a way to give more of you a taste of LBP2 prior to launch, so stay tuned.

All of us here are obviously disappointed that you won’t be able to get your hands on LBP 2 until January. But with LittleBigPlanet being one of the most innovative – and fun – franchises around, we do believe that it’s essential that the sequel lives up to your expectations, and to the reputation established by the award-winning first game. LBP 2 is an incredibly ambitious and exciting game; I know that waiting can seem hard, but when it launches in January I’m certain you’ll be able to see just how much further the bar has been raised.

Thanks for the info guys, although I can’t help but feel a little disappointed – but you’re the developers and if you think that delaying an already fantastic game by two months to make it that much better then I’m up for it.
In a way it’s a godsend, as I’ll have room for other titles in the release window of November time.

So the beta will mostly like be a open beta? And why dont we have an release date yet? US got their date already but not EU.. Seems not fair.

While I am obviously going to be disappointed, I understand that delays like this are inevitable.
However the beta is amazing, and if you are going to be improving on that, then it can’t be bad.

good lol, I’m actually glad because I had to choose between Assassins Creed Brotherhood and this for november, and I’d chosen AC and preordered, the lbp2 beta is awesome btw. Now I can get bothe no worries, its funny 1st it was that autumn was getting expensive now its the start of next yer, games I want post xmas: Mass Effect 2, lbp2, kz3, infamous 2, resistance 3, Dragon Age2 and crysis 2 too many lol

Just curious, surely wouldn’t a proper test of the servers be to test it against the amount of people who would want to play LBP2? I’d have thought it’d give an estimation of the amount of people you could except to have online (I know there’s probably a really good reason why you do have a limit),
I’m not that bothered though about this, there’s other games coming out and it’s good to know that Media Molecule is taking their time on the game.

I’m part of the closed Beta and this is very bad news, since this was ment to be my birthday present.
I knew the bugs reported would be enough to put it back, really, there that bad, trust me, don’t be angry at Mm because the bugs are huge problems.
But for Mm, I DO feel sorry, they’re missing the chirstmas buy time, only big fans would buy the game afterwards and they won’t get as much money.
Oh well, looks like the Move kit for my birthday.

To be honest I would much rather wait the extra time and get what is looking to be one of the best games ever.
Just hope UK gets the collectors edition and we all get a chance to try the beta at some point

the cynic in me thinks that sony wants to delay it so that move functionality can be included out of the box, not patching it in a few months post-release.
they’ll be hoping for decent move hardware sales for xmas, and LBP2 would be a flagship title for the glowing orbstick post xmas.
i’m not particularly bothered, as i already pretty much know which games i am going to get and when between now and the end of february, so november or january works for me. but KZ3 is out on 25th feb, from whence all games will likely be dead to me for some months.

@ twistedintoform its cheaper to delay and fix all bugs and glitches then release it and having 10 patches in the upcoming weeks/months
and when i read most posts here, people complain when they have to download any patches, even if it improve gameplay, people dont want to download patches it seems but complaining if a game isnt working proper.
second they also can use the delay to add move but thats not the mean reason.

I have no problem waiting to January to get my hands on Little Big Planet 2. What I do have a big problem is if Sony wants more of us signing up to Playstation Plus then Sony needs to get their act together. The Little Big Planet Beta codes should have been sent to Playstation Plus members and not just sent out at random.
This is one of the reasons I will not be signing up to Playstation Plus. Sony if you do not get your act together companies like Microsoft and Nintendo will continue to eat away at your market share and you only have your self to blame.

Are we going to get to see the choices being looked at for the rest of the non-beta-ed have greater or worse chance of gaing access to the beta. I will live with a delay but it’s kind of crushing when the greatest game of all time sequel was delayed.

Why You keep saying ”LBP2 beta should be given to PS+ members”?! I think You undesrtand that everyone can’t get the + because of money. And betas were given for the people, who helped MM and have been friendly to others. (For example Covertaction)

and that’s great if it makes it betta, tho obviously

But why can’t u tell us how ur working on giving

I think the delay is great now I can get Christmas money and preorder the collectors edition. I was getting worried I wouldn’t be able to afford GT5 and LBP2 the only 2 games I’d ever get the collectors editions for.
