‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update (29th September 2010)

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update (29nd September 2010)

Not sure if the image above makes it obvious enough, but there’s a certain game featuring a certain Lara Croft releasing today. Could you tell?

That’s not the only content releasing this week featuring a truly iconic character though; the demo for Ghost of Sparta hits the store, so now non-Plus subscribers can try the latest instalment featuring the angriest man (god) ever seen in gaming!

That’s not all for PSP owners, UFC Disputed 2010 brings its incredible MMA action to the store, as well as there being a new GTI Club title, and two new additions to the Essentials range released. Not forgetting that this Friday FIFA 11 will be released digitally too. That’s quite a lot of handheld action for one week right?

One of my favourite games of the past year see’s the fourth and final piece of DLC released, with Claptraps New Robot Revolution hitting the world of Borderlands, so grab three friends (this game is great single player, but best played co-op) and enjoy this madcap action.

There’s also a smattering of new demos, minis, add-ons, the ModNation Racers soundtrack and more; for the full list you know what to do…

I’m not actually going to be around for comments today I’m afraid, but Ross will keep his eye out and respond to any urgent queries if needs be. Back to full service next week, promise.

Thanks for… Oh, wait! There’s no Castle Crashers, Again(x4 weeks).

Anything new about his status?

Anyway, thanks for Castlevania Demo. Seems to be destiny that I don’t have to buy a game on PS Store.

Three PSP games is better than nothing, although at this rate we’ll never catch up. No PSOne games again though, despite a wealth of them in other territories.

TheKillerSnowman 29 September, 2010 @ 1:07 pm   3

the only for me this week is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (Demo)

Nice amount of demos/trials this week!

What is PlayMemories?

Please Inform us.

Might & Magic Clash of Heroes for PS3? WHEN?

it was tested and labeled by the USK on the 11.08.2010

Looking forward to trying Castlevania and the WRC game. Tried the MMA demo from USA store, but I don’t think it is as good as UFC. Doesn’t have the same violence/brutality factor.

Good work on the update.

rossthebassist 29 September, 2010 @ 1:10 pm   8

im a little shocked to be honest at the price of PSP UFC 2010, think its officially time i gave up on my go, i could trade it in get a 3000, and a load of games plus keep my digital download ones by redownloading on my 3000. i know blame will be pushed back to publisers choice etc etc etc, but i aint paying £32 for somthing that will be £25

Doodylicious 29 September, 2010 @ 1:10 pm   9

Just curious as to what the PS3 app is “PlayMemories”?

Yeah nice amount of demo’s n stuff indeed will defo be getting Castlevania!

Also are we gonna be getting a wee PS1 sale or something soonish? I thought i read it was the 15th birthday of PlayStation in Europe today thought there might have been a PS1 bonanza today or summit hehe.

efectz_0121 29 September, 2010 @ 1:10 pm   11

Thanks for the update Mike :)
Can i ask a question will we ever get FF13 Premium Avatars (like Japan)and i though we might of got the ’15 anniversary avatar’ today?

Just wondering that’s all,
Thanks again! :D

randellaUK 29 September, 2010 @ 1:10 pm   12

No avatars for the EU this week saw US got aload dead rising ect

So will the store update be around 3pm BST again??

kool-chris93 29 September, 2010 @ 1:10 pm   14

I’ve never heard of PlayMemories, I gotta to google it :D

Hey Mike

Do you know maybe if there will be a demo of F1 2010 from Codemasters?

Regards

guybrush3_16 29 September, 2010 @ 1:11 pm   16

Great update especially Lara. Any news on more classic PS1 games tho on the front. Being a PPlus member Im waiting for Resi/Silent hill classics so I can play on PSP as so enjoyed medievil for free due to being a member.

Come on guys. Give us some good news.

Why do people post first? Are you even interested in this blog or what?

Nobody cares if you’re first to comment, there is no prize.

Anyways i just wanted to say thans for the update, i can’t can’t wait for the new Borderlands DLC.

No 15th Birthday celebrations :(

Myst3rialP 29 September, 2010 @ 1:11 pm   19

Awesome update Mike! Thank you for great PSP and PS3 content :)

Hello there.. Nice update..

What is Play memories..?

and guess the AC multiplayer beta is the only thing Plus members get this week..? (although a pretty BIG thing)

Ho no ! :( Where are the missions pack for Valkyria Chronicles 2 ?

Mike, where is Star Wars Force Unleashed II demo? I thought I read it was this week.

STUPID_DAD 29 September, 2010 @ 1:12 pm   23

nice update

Is Phantasy Star Portable 2 still on schedule for digital release on the 6th of October?

Hi mike
What about a new category on PSS “US PSone import” in which we could find xenogears, chrono cross, parasite eve 1 et ohters ? Good idea, no ? ;)

Any idea when Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light online co-op will come availabe, that’s the only reason i would get this game, to play online co-op with friends, since good online co-op games are so rare nowdays…

SlapnutzUK 29 September, 2010 @ 1:13 pm   27

FIFA 11 on PSP for £31.99?

It’s UMD Brother is £24.99 http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PSP/Sport-Football-Management/FIFA-11/~r349513/?s=fifa+11+psp

This is why the PSPgo died, oh when will SONY realise you can’t charge MORE for digital distribution.

I’d love someone from SCEE to explain the logic behind the pricing please?

kool-chris93 – Play Memories is just another photo app. It is able to display 3D and Panoramic Photos in a better way than Photo Gallery. Works quite well, but I don’t know why Sony didn’t just up the original, rather than having two photo apps now?!!

andypritchard 29 September, 2010 @ 1:13 pm   29

Hi Mike,
What is PlayMemories?

No 15 year Anniversary goodies?

Good update BTW and happy birthday to Playstation EU.

Any news on a chinaTown wars price drop in Europe?

HELLO it’s the 15anniversary TODAY and their is no special stuff for it??

M3RL1NS_N3M3S1S 29 September, 2010 @ 1:14 pm   33

Today is the 15th anniversary of PlayStation in europe, not only has there been no mention on the blog about this massive milestone but i really expected some nostalgic love from the store team with a few PSone classics either added or reduced, the themes and avatar from us would have been nice too…

Why no nostalgic love mike? why? :(

Chaosprower 29 September, 2010 @ 1:15 pm   34

So, is Kingdom Hearts Birth by sleep definetly not coming?

Whats PlayMemories?

FULLMETAL56 29 September, 2010 @ 1:15 pm   36

Nice update, thanks !
No 15th anniversary free avatar ? :(

TheKillerSnowman 29 September, 2010 @ 1:15 pm   37

HI Mike

when do we get DJ Hero 2 Demo and Resistance 3 Trailer????

@ All asking about PlayMemories (FWIW it can be used without a 3D set)

Play Memories (free)
PlayMemories is a software program that lets you enjoy all your photos on TV. It provides you with a number of features for viewing both wide and tall panoramic photos, multi-angle photos from different angles, and 3D photos that take you right inside the images. With intuitive controls and an easy photo search for large collections (grouping by year, month, or day with one button functionality), PlayMemories makes memories easy and fun!
File size: 182 MB

xSODAMN_INSANEx 29 September, 2010 @ 1:16 pm   39

No celebrations for playstations 15th birthday mike?

ShadowDoGGG 29 September, 2010 @ 1:16 pm   40

@SlapnutzUK

It is quite obvious that Sony cannot dictate to publishers their pricing. Pricing is NOT something for Sony to decide.

When will Top Gun be available in Portugal??

Thanks

FULLMETAL56 29 September, 2010 @ 1:16 pm   42

Here a short vidéo introducing PlayMemories :

dutchguy1982 29 September, 2010 @ 1:16 pm   43

Gonna give Lara a try :) Hmm.. ;)

Nice update Mike, first time post here.

Shame that Sony couldn’t recognise the PlayStation’s 15th Anniversary via a store update :( Makes me a very sad panda…

Why is my comment awaiting moderation?

Fifa 11 on psp at amazon is £24.99
Fifa 11 on psn store is £31.99

From where im sat digital distributed stuff should be cheaper considering theres less overheads, why are you sooo content on ripping your customers off time and time again??? you have even priced it higher than the rrp of £29.99!

DeathSpank was released last week, but is listed this week as well? It wasn’t a PS+ exclusive last week, was it?

Anyway, I’m getting Borderlands DLC and Lara Croft.. and checking out TerRover. Best update in a while!

AaronSOLDIER 29 September, 2010 @ 1:18 pm   48

Any chance of contacting Capcom to lower the price of the PSP game ‘Fate Unlimited Codes’? Its over a year old and still £23.99

I got the early code from gamespot for lara, it’s a good game, enjoyable enough even on your own

Oh… another great news :

“I’m not actually going to be around for comments today I’m afraid, but Ross will keep his eye out and respond to any urgent queries if needs be. Back to full service next week, promise.”

Bye. -_-
