Meet The Companions Of Fallout: New Vegas

Countries: , , , ,

The Mojave Wasteland is a dangerous and desolate place… so you feel the need for some companionship during your adventure. Like Fallout 3, New Vegas allows you to have one humanoid and one non-humanoid companion at any time.

Fallout: New Vegas’ senior producer, Jason Bergman, has put together a list of bios for the companions you’ll meet throughout the Wasteland. Learn more about them below. [Warning: some spoilers below]

Meet The Companions Of Fallout: New Vegas - Arcade

  • Full Name: Arcade Israel Gannon
  • Sex: Male
  • Race: Human
  • Ethnicity: Caucasian
  • Age: 35
  • Profession: Doctor, Followers of the Apocalypse New
    Vegas Chapter
  • Perk: Better Healing – While Arcade is a companion, the
player regains more health from all sources.
  • Description: Arcade is highly ethical and moral, but he understands the post apocalyptic world is one in which sometimes, people just have to be shot in the head. Most of Arcade’s concerns about the world around him have to do with large-scale issues rather than the needs of individuals. While he appreciates what individual people go through, he firmly believes that it’s more important to affect large-scale societal change than fix problems little by little.

Digital Comics Store Update (15th September 2010)

Well, dear readers, this is one hell of a week: not only do we have a pretty great selection of new series for you, but we’re also bringing you some long-awaited comics today… Read on!

Locke & Key! Need I say more? The eagerly awaited issue #6 of IDW‘s Locke & Keys: Crown of Shadows is now available! This epilogue brings closure on the traumatic events of the previous issues by focusing on Nina Locke and the discovery of two more keys, which could make or break the family…

And that’s not all in terms of Locke & Key goodness: this week also marks the start of Locke & Key: Keys to the Kingdom! In #1 of this brand new story, Bode Locke manages to unlock a world of tooth, fang, claw, feather… and death. It doesn’t bode well (!). You’ll see.

If you’re looking for another excellent horror/fantasy tale we also recommend DC Comic‘s Sandman, written by the acclaimed Neil Gaiman! An occultist accidently traps Morpheus, embodiment of Dreams, for 70 long years… Upon his release Morpheus must rebuild his fallen kingdom, and it won’t be an easy task: as Gaiman notes, “The Lord of Dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision”. What will it be?

Also in our comic store is another brilliant Silent Hill comic: Silent Hill: Paint it Black. In this stand-alone story, a painter and semi-professional slacker finds his muse in gloomy Silent Hill: Cheryl, a sexy / survivalist-trained / gun-toting cheerleader (phew). Together with Cheryl’s teammates they must survive another wave of deadly creatures – will they succeed?

And finally, please allow me to highlight the ever-popular and fantastic series Y: The Last Man. It has many fans and readers already, but in case you’re not one of them yet it tells the tale of Yorick Brown, the last man on Earth. Is he alone? Not quite, as the plague that wiped men seems to have spared… women. Yorick goes on a difficult quest across a ravaged America to find his lost love, finding unexpected friends and enemies along the way and making astonishing discoveries as he goes. Great story full of twists and surprises – and #1 is completely FREE, so give it a try!

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update (15th September 2010)

Here’s to another week and another slice of the digital content pie; though this week it’s mostly about Move related content. To celebrate the launch of PlayStation Move we have a wealth of Move related goodies for you (can I say Move enough in this opening paragraph?). [Ed. Google will love it!]

To start with, we have the games Tumble (Move controller required) and Flight Control HD (Move controller compatible) available. Tumble doesn’t need much introduction, you should have heard about this title by now. If not though, let’s boil it down to the bare essentials…you can balance, build, and (surely most importantly) destroy… I’m going to leave it at that… what more do you need to know? As for Flight Control HD, your aim is to control a stream of aircraft, and land them all successfully, so for those of you who’ve always wanted to practise your aircraft landing skills now’s your chance

The Move content doesn’t stop there; we have nine…yes NINE demos for Move titles (as well as ‘normal’ demos for FIFA 11, PES 2011 and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West) and Move update packs for EyePet and High Velocity Bowling to ensure you can play these games using your newly purchased Move controllers.

We have a new batch of Special Offers today, with deals on PAIN, Peggle and Mega Man 10 amongst others, and to celebrate the totally awesome, and most fun day of the year, ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’ (Sunday 19th September) we have three Monkey Island related offers. There are one week reductions on the first two Monkey Island games, as well as a one week introductory offer on the newly released Monkey Island Special Edition Bundle. So what are you waiting for me hearties…yaaaaaargh!!

As usual, there is more content than I am able to mention in my preamble, so allow me to point you to the full listing below.

Just wanted to remind you all of our Move content… I’m not sure I’ve mentioned it yet…and I’ll leave you with the words of Young MC, get out there and ‘bust a move’ (not literally mind).

You, me, comments…be there.

Arrgh! See ya chum (that’s pirate for goodbye).

Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light Coming To PSN

Countries: , , , ,

My name is Keir. I’m the Group Community Manager at Square Enix Europe which means I mainly surf the internet or play games for a living. I must have been a lovely person in a previous life. Although I’m normally chained to my desk at Square Enix Europe HQ in cloudy London, I’m currently chained to another desk in the Crystal Dynamics studios in even cloudier San Francisco. I’m here to give you the lowdown on Crystal Dynamics’ latest offering ‘Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light‘.

2_Brute_Smash

In case you haven’t seen any LCGoL news over the last few weeks and months, here’s the skinny. I have decided to boil the key info down into bullet points because I like to waffle.

“Wait… what?” – Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light isn’t a Tomb Raider?!

Crystal Dynamics are currently working on two projects. One of them is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, the other one is another game which I can’t mention or I’d get sacked *cough*Tomb Raider*cough*. The studio had a chance to really experiment and do something new and exciting with LCGoL. As a result they’ve crafted an arcade style digital download that draws on all the fundamental aspects you’d associate with Lara (including great puzzles) but also added some fresh elements. It is made of win.
