Good afternoon, let’s get cracking shall we.
We have one full game for you this week in the form of Ferrari: The Race Challenge. Fully featured with (up to) 16 player multiplayer, and a single player tiered career mode, you can show off your prowess with a range of some of the best vehicles ever manufactured (no Ferrari didn’t pay me to say that).
For your PSP needs we have Phantasy Star Portable 2 available, and the Essentials range keeps growing with nine additions this week (this necessitates an exclamation mark)! I also feel the need this week to highlight one of the latest minis added to the roster; Ace Armstrong Vs. The Alien Scumbags. Not only is the name fantastic, but it looks like a pretty nifty old-school shooter (like Mum used to make).
Modern Warfare 2 saw a week’s price promotion on the Stimulus and Resurgence Packs start yesterday, and we have another week of the recent Special Offers to go. I’ve also listed this month’s PlayStation Plus content for you all too, because I’m such a nice chap.
I gather some of you will have two week’s worth of abuse to hurl my way, in light of my absence last week, so I’d better get straight to the comments section hadn’t I?
Laters.

News on Castle Crashers?
(Every week the same question, sorry
)
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:04 pm by Mike Kebby
Castle Crashers is in QA again, unfortunately we’ve been beholden to waiting for the publisher submitting the code again. This time however it should make it through and be out in a couple of weeks (my fingers are crossed for this to happen).

No PSOne classics this week? Nothing there for me, I got the offers when they weren’t on offer. Ah well…

Good work on the new Essentials but how come we rarely get PS1 games? There’s such a huge untapped market there.
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:09 pm by Mike Kebby
Ah the old PSone question
It’s frustrating I know, but on titles that are old now, there are lots of legal, licensing and rights issues that people tend not to realise hamper content being released. Publishing rights lapse, music rights lapse, legal rights lapse, voice actors need paying…there’s lots of hurdles that need traversing. The publishers have got what they can up (ourselves included) and whilst we do of course want more, the ones left are more problematic.

@ beardywierdy – don’t ever expect any Bleach games. None of them have been released in English.

Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:03 pm by flamingcarrot
Yep – a Castle Crashers update would be appreciated.

15
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:04 pm by Wargod-1984
And oh surprise: No Castle Crashers again … i really don’t get it … the game is fully localized in the original version already and still its so hard to put it in the EU store?
you got to be kidding us … seriously …
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:13 pm by Mike Kebby
I’m not going to go into the details of why the game has yet to pass through QA successfully, but I’m doing all I can to make sure once it has passed that we release it onto the store ASAP!

Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:04 pm by Chocobo115
Nothing about any Rock Band DLC sale? or should we just give up on that and keep getting treated like trash compared to americans?
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:13 pm by Mike Kebby
Harmonix have never requested a sale on their content here in the EU.

Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:04 pm by Toothball
Been waiting for Phantasy Star Portable 2 for a while now, so I’ll be all over that as soon as it hits the store. Nice price too.

Mike you forgot to list the Halloween special avatars for plus members
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:14 pm by Mike Kebby
It’s not on the schedule I have for release this week…not sure where that information has come from? I’ll check it out though.

Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:05 pm by ggctuk
Could you get the other three Tomb Raider games the US has?
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:15 pm by Mike Kebby
We are certainly doing what we can to help the publisher get these released. I can’t promise anything though.
24
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:06 pm by Archonik
You might want to fix the Rock Band songs section. The T-Rex tracks are mixed together with REM and it makes it look as if you’re getting them as well when buying the T-Rex pack.

It’s still coming, though I can’t confirm a date just yet (last time I did this the publisher rightly gave me a spanking – verbally of course).

Hey mike, little PSP go problem with the ten free games. I brought my PSP Go in May 2010. Downloaded the PSP Go Theme on my PSP Go (not Media Go or PS3) and I’m over 18. More than two weeks have gone since I downloaded it. How much longer do I have to wait? Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike, Great update! Phantasy Star Portable 2 is very tempting, I wonder if I have enough room on my memory stick for it.
I was also wondering if you had any info on when we’ll get the DLC for Valkyria Chronicles 2? And if we’ll ever get more Trinity Universe DLC? Thanks
35
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:07 pm by Yeroon
Hmmm… not much this week.
I’ll give the Ferrari demo a try.
Can you ask your PSN+ colleagues about the DLC that is missing in the PSN+ update?
(a lot of people asked it in the PSN+ post, but they’re ignoring the question).

What’s going on with the next pack of Street Fighter IV avatars? They were released in the US some weeks ago, and here, we only got a bunch of them.
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:21 pm by Mike Kebby
I know, it’s surprised me how long they’ve taken…there are more in the system I’ve seen the submissions…hopefully we’ll have the rest very soon!

Don’t worry Mike, you ain’t getting any abuse from me, I’m saving mine for the Video team if they post…
Any news on a Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock demo?
And by the way Mike, where is Final Fantasy X? Just kidding
Have a great day!
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:30 pm by Mike Kebby
Hey, the Video Store team are people too…play nice with them
I’ve yet to see a submission for a demo for Warriors of Rock, but that doesn’t mean one isn’t coming.
Ignoring the FFX question
You too!

Nice update for psp essentials
Tempted by Dante’s Inferno PSP as well, but £24 is still too much for a download

Hi Mike,
Any chance of an update to the PSN service to include working voice chat in every game, so these online titles can actually be *played* online? Thanks.
47
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:10 pm by kingcrowbaruk
I guess there is no requirement from Sony for publishers to release Essentials on PSN as well as UMD, but please can you give Team17 a poke and ask them nicely to release Worms: Open Warfare on the store.
And I am going to assume the 10 replies (from a Sony representative) in the PSN+ post are all we will get so I’ll ask here, where is the monthly DLC that we were promised we would receive at the start of PSN+?

Acceptable Phantasy Star Portable 2 pricing. Yay!
50
Posted on 6 October, 2010 at 1:11 pm by PSN-OmniusALX
….forgot to add Mike, the hot topic of PSP pricing!
These RRP’s are killing the PSPgo! Not only did we pay the price for the machine (which I except) but those games which are ‘older’ and £25+ and the new ones at £32 are a bit much really compaired to the retail versions.
As much as SCEE doesn’t want to look into it, it needs addressing at some point.

It’s something I am constantly bringing up with publishers, and at some point I’m sure the tide will turn…it eventually happened with digital music, and I’m confident it will happen with games too.
