It is finally time to take that step; a step so critical that it will elevate you to a new level of gamer. It’s time to step up to Tier 1! Medal of Honor for the PlayStation 3 is now on retail store shelves in the US and will be making its debut in Europe on the 15th of October.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Medal of Honor, it’s a modern reboot of the venerable franchise that has existed for ten years. Operating directly under the National Command Authority, a relatively unknown entity of handpicked warriors are called on when the mission must not fail. They are the Tier 1 Operators.
Over two million Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines wear the uniform. Of those, approximately 50 thousand fall under the direct control of the Special Operations Command. The Tier 1 Operator functions on a plane of existence above and beyond even the most highly trained Special Operations Forces. Their exact numbers, while classified, hover in the low hundreds.
They are living, breathing, precision instruments of war. They are experts in the application of violence. The new Medal of Honor is inspired by and has been developed with Tier 1 Operators from this elite community. Players will step into the boots of these warriors and apply their unique skill sets to a new enemy in the most unforgiving and hostile battlefield conditions of present day Afghanistan.
The single-player, created by Danger Close, is an authentic, emotional and exhilarating look at the war in Afghanistan through the lens of a band of fictional characters. The multiplayer, created by world-class studio DICE, is an adrenaline-fuelled experience that will put your first-person shooter gaming skills to the ultimate test.
For those of you familiar with the franchise, you’ll be excited to know that the PlayStation 3 edition of the game comes with the re-mastered Medal of Honor Frontline. For the first time ever, you’ll be able to storm the shores of Normandy in full HD! Medal of Honor Frontline was a landmark title for the PlayStation 2 platform when it was released in 2002. It helped pave the way for first-person shooter titles and defined and established Medal of Honor as a franchise to be reckoned with.
When we started to talk with Sony about the possibility of releasing an HD version, everyone familiar with the franchise was extremely excited and considered it a no-brainer; it had to be done! Visual aesthetics wasn’t the only thing to get improved, however. The team also managed to implement the “aim down the sight” mechanic into the game. Get ready to suit up as Lt. Jimmy Patterson once again and head back behind enemy lines for 15 missions based on real events that occurred during WWII.

I really hope Frontline HD will be released on the PS Store as well (like Call Of Duty Classic last year), because I’m more interested by this “HD remake” than by this new MoH. :-p

After looking at some of the reviews for this game I think I’ll give it a miss. There are too many FPS coming out over the next few months, like Black Ops, Killzone 3 and Bulletstorm. Not to mention other games like Fallout New Vegas and GT5. I imagine its going to be a long time before I have any money in my wallet

the game is kinda short on content but ican’t blame EA for it don’t forget this is their first start up unlike COD that just kept making the same game over and over again so i would rater buy something with a new view than the same old crap like COD maybe if it sells enough we might get a better 2nd game for medal of honor and with more maps and a longer single players campaign
cause if you look at activision and koticks view he can go F himself with his stupid ass ideals off making games and trying 2 sell gamers cutscenes

I actually have a preorder already paid for in EB for Tier 1 (and BO Prestige) but I’m actually thinking hard about cancelling tomorrow instead of picking it up. It’s getting slated and EA really let me down with BC2 VIP, I mean releasing same maps every other month with new play modes sucked ass, I loved that game for the first few months until it dawned on me that EA had abandoned us for MoH. Now I expect them to do the same with this to be honest. Might just cancel and preorder Time Crisis Razing instead.

@18 thats the main reason i’m not touching MOH EA and dice totally abandend bfc users to consentrate on MOH.

Yep, not only did they forget us they also never did fix the lag fest that BC2 became. It started out so great that after a few days of owning BC2 I sold MW2, big mistake (and I don’t really like MW2)
Yeah that’s decision made, gonna cancel and get Time Crisis.

I’ve been reading some reviews for this, and they haven’t been good.

@18 That’s because the VIP stuff was already on disc it’s unlocked for VIP’s, people who bought the game used had it lock out so they have to pay for VIP if they want the full game.
None of the VIP stuff is real DLC, it’s just locked disc content to persuade people to buy the game brand new. Only real DLC was onslaught and that Vietnam one coming soon.

I’ll pass… My suspicions were confirmed by the majority of very poor reviews… Money saved…

you’d have to be crazy to buy this, it’s an absolute PUP….
Dice/EA know it, we know it, the game reviewers know it, poetic justice for the way Dice/EA treated us all with BC2.

Got it in my PS3 _O_!!!
a big F’ing shame that almost none of the stores in my hometown could deliver the limited or Tier 1 edition. I only saw one limited edition for the X360. Real awkward :-/
I guess I’ll have to find me another way to get in the BF3 beta! But, I got my MoH Frontlines with my regular Medal of Honor! Sweeeet!
60% of installing, 40 to goooo!!

Oh, about the slightly mixed reviews:
Mirror’s Edge got what, like a 77? But it’s one of my all-time favourite games! So, I don’t really care that much about reviews anymore… Betas, demos, info and footage should do me more.

Can anyone point me in the direction of these bad reviews?
I have only seen a couple 8/10 scores for the new game.
Admittedly, the Frontline ‘update’ has been slated, but that’s free so it’s just a bit of a shame.

A Single Player demo would be useful.
I tried the online Beta but it don’t give you the same feedback like the campaign.

IGN UK gave it 60%

Ok, beaten the first mission. I admit…. It’s not very good :-/
First off: the first cutscene had some hick-ups. Annoying!
Second: graphicly it looks outdated. Few details, and never heard of anti aliasing.
Third: the game is slow. I’m too fast in every situation. Which means: wait up for the game to get where you are and start the next sequence
Fourth: it’s easy, too easy. Playing on normal.
Fifth: The gameplay doesn’t feel smooth. When shooting and thinking you hit someone, the game says you don’t.
A true disspointment.
And YES, I actually played it. Check my trophies if you don’t believe me…

Got my copy on the 9th. It was a lot of fun playing through Frontline again. It shows the change in difficulty of games over the last few years, what with no checkpoints to hold people’s hands.
The new MoH was short but fun, though definitely not perfect, but I did like the authentic feel to the game. Everything felt like it was within the realms of possibility, unlike MW2 which took things too far over the top in my opinion, (not that I didn’t enjoy it, just that I had to suspend disbelief at times).
Anyway, I look forward to seeing the franchise improve with subsequent games.

Not only has reviews/impressions/media available shown a rapidly cooling, now lukewarm title, at best; but I don’t like the way that EA/DC have gone about, toying with principles for a marketing tool. They should never have played up the real operatives support angle, if they were going to compromise their original intent, in the way that they then, very publically did – and, for what?
I won’t support that behaviour. I’ll give MOH a miss.

I was really looking forward to this but quite a dew reviews have cucked up some major issues with the game like scripted events that break the sense of immersion. A 10 mission campain which can be completed in 4-6hrs. And a multiplayer that doesn’t know if its COD or Battlefield. I mean what where you guys thinking splitting development between two studios for the single and multiplayer. So now you’ve got gameplay mechanics and controls that show up only in single player and not multi.
Oh well maybe next time will be different or you’ll put MoH out of its missery. I’ll just have to wait for Black Ops instead….
Oh heres an idea you heard of that little studio your in buisness with emm RESPAWN why not get them to have a look at this next time not to develop but you know give some constructive advice. After all they are the ones who created CoD the game your trying to go up against.

MoH was a good game in the days before online multiplayer.

i was thinking about getting this game, then i saw that frontline was to be done in hd exclusive to ps3!!! that really sold it to me.
WHO AGREES THAT FRONTLINE IS THERE BEST MEDAL OF HONOUR?????

@35 – I disagree. I think Allied Assault on the PC was THE Medal of Honor game. It was absolutely immense, and had me hooked on the genre ever since.
Then COD came along (also on the PC at the time) which was excellent. But since going onto consoles its taken a more arcade approach.
