This week’s update is going to be a bit different to previous weeks; it’ll be a bit more personal than usual…though I’ll go into more detail after discussing this week’s content.
Tim Schafer’s latest creation Costume Quest hits the store this week, and it’s the perfect title for unleashing your inner child and embracing Halloween with pure unadulterated joy (that you would usually get scorned for as an adult). No matter how I try and describe this title I’ll most likely do it a disservice, so just check it out and make up your own mind (Ed: you could also watch the video interview with Tim and Tasha Harris here).
Swords and Soliders also joins the ranks this week, and any game that can say (taken straight from the marketing material) “blend ninja monkeys, attacking Aztecs and brutal Vikings with everything you love about real time strategy games and you’ve got Swords and Soldiers” must be worth a look, right? Not only does this game have local and online multiplayer, it also supports 3D too, so definitely something for you with swanky 3D TVs to be taking a look at.
The rest of the content is, as ever, listed below.
Now for my news; this will actually be my very last PlayStation Store update, as I’m actually leaving SCEE next Tuesday.
[pause for effect]
It’s still hard for me to believe my time at PlayStation is coming to a close, but I’ll still be involved with the platform as I’m off to join the digital team at SEGA; so I’ll definitely be coming back every now and again with the latest news from the world of SEGA. You won’t be getting rid of me completely.
Sincerely though, it has been a pleasure being here and talking to you all on a weekly basis, and all the best for the future to PlayStation, the staff here, and you the community!
It’s been emotional.

It’s cool to see some more PSOne Classics appear, what’s happening with Bloody Roar 2 though? And good luck with your new job with SEGA.

I am indeed, it wasn’t an easy decision to make, I’ve loved my time here at PlayStation.
You’ve all been a lot of fun (even the moaners at times) and it’ll be weird having Wednesday afternoons to myself again. I’ll have to ask the team at SEGA to sit and hurl abuse at me for the first few Wednesdays just so I can settle in

Thanks Mike for doing a great job over the last year. F5 Fridays, Thursdays and now Wednesdays have been some of the highlights of my week, the banter between you and the commenters always entertaining. You have always, even in the face of criticism, a courteous and entertaining man, and I don’t think the blog will be the same without you. Here’s to hoping you have a great time in your new job, and hopefully you will post on the Blog again in the future! Hit me up on PSN if you like, see ya!
Posted on 20 October, 2010 at 1:21 pm by Mike Kebby
Thanks for your comment, very nice to read (in fact you’ve all been very nice…so far).
It’s been an entertaining ride looking after the Store, and then communicating with you guys since the blog started, I was over the moon when I was told I could post here on a weekly basis, made me feel like a proper blogger.
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a passionate fan base, and to be honest, even in the face of the harshest of criticism, I wouldn’t change that. You’re all great just the way you are
Posted on 20 October, 2010 at 1:22 pm by Mike Kebby
Also, I fully intend to be bugging James G on a regular basis with posts about SEGA content, so you haven’t seen the last of me by any means

Good luck mush

Best of luck in the new job Mike. Thanks for everything you did for the EU PS community (even if a lot of the time it seemed to go unappreciated).
Posted on 20 October, 2010 at 1:26 pm by Mike Kebby
Thanks. I’ve never been so conceited to expect praise all the time…I mean I’m only doing my job after all. But it’s always nice when someone goes out of their way to share something positive, when sometimes it’s much easier to say something negative.

Best of luck at SEGA, maybe you can be our inside man trying to get Dreamcast 2 off the shelf and back into the design phase
Cant let you go without an update question though :p where’s the remaining Fallout 3 DLC for PS+? is it still being released today?
Does your replacement know what they signed up for?, i mean passionate is the nice way of saying tough crowd :p

Hi Mike,
Sad to see you go. We all appreciate all the hard work you have done over the years. Putting up with all the angry fans over the years and always having a nice thing to say to them.
Good luck over at SEGA. I am sure you will be a huge asset to the company but making the Blog a much quieter place.
Goodbye and good luck.
PS. Put in a good word for us while you over there to get some Dreamcast classics.

Posted on 20 October, 2010 at 1:12 pm by akaten
You’re now going to be working at Sega? Dreamcast 2 confirmed! Wish you all the very best and many thanks for answering questions each and every week.
But have no fear, for here at the Strange Games and Funky Licensing offices as we speak my crack team of experts are now hard at work on the treasure trove of glorious games that is the Sega Dreamcast. Be afraid, be very afraid!
May each day bring you the joy, warmth and happy blue skies of Sega.
Game Over. YEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ^_^

Good luck at SEGA! You’ve raised the bar for interaction with us lowly gamers on here (and for taking a fierce weekly beating about delayed content
). You can be proud of that “legacy”, let’s hope whoever comes next follows this standard.
