‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 27th October 2010

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update 27th October 2010

Welcome one and all to another EU PlayStation Store ‘Heads-Up’ blog update. Mr Kebby may have left the building, but I will strive to continue his good work and keep on improving the Store as much as we can. If the next two years of upgrades and changes are in any way as welcome and successful as the improvements that happened under Mike’s care, then we’ll be in good shape.

Enough about Mike anyway… he’s undoubtedly sat at home in his pants playing Fallout New Vegas, but I have to talk about what we’ve got for you this week.

You’ve probably already downloaded Undead Nightmare, and if not then you really should – the chance to play another brand-new chunk of story from the sublime Red Dead Redemption should be reason enough, even without the promise of hordes of zombies to run down in your little red wagon. Don’t forget, if you’ve been holding out on grabbing all the Red Dead DLC, then the perfect chance has arrived in the shape of the Undead Collection, which also includes the ‘Liars and Cheats’ and ‘Legends and Killers’ packs at a cut down price.

No fewer than four demos for you this week – of course we have Time Crisis: Razing Storm for you Move owners, as well as NFS: Hot Pursuit, FOTNS: Ken’s Rage and the intriguing and quite charming Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.

Continuing the zombie theme we’ve got the Sports Fan Skill Pack for Dead Rising 2 up for grabs – it’s a good one too, wearing the costume means your run speed really increases, which helps you dodge those nasty infected and for a bit of extra crowd control ability, try holding an American Football.

For your handhelds this week we’ve got Lunar: Silver Star Harmony, a really great RPG from Game Arts. Hopefully we’ll see more of these kinds of games on the Store soon.

And Pro Evolution Soccer makes a triumphant return to PSP this week with PES 2011. I should point out that you won’t be able to get this today – mainland Europe can snag it from tomorrow, UK bods will see it hit the Store on Friday and it’ll be next Friday (5th November) before you can grab it in Australia or New Zealand.

Anyways, I hope we’ve got something to please you this week and if not, odds are there’ll be something for you next week when it’s going to be crazy busy on the Store. I’ll be around for comments for chunks of the afternoon so if I don’t reply to you right away, check back a bit later on.

Bye for now!

castle crashers?? PLEASSSE :(

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:12 pm

I will say this to you right now – I will attempt to move Heaven and Earth to get you guys Castle Crashers as fast as possible, HOPEFULLY next week if I can swing it, but I can’t promise you yet, so don’t quote me on it.

It depends on a couple of things that are outside of my control but I will shout at everyone who needs to be shouted at and bang my drum as loud as I can to make this happen. I will know more tomorrow so I will update you all with a comment and let you know how I got on. :)

Castle Crashers? :\

Nothing for me this week. Shame that Dissidia price drop is still more than what it costs in stores.

Good to see Lunar, though I already have it imported.

Chocobo115 27 October, 2010 @ 1:03 pm   4

Ross! My piratey friend!

I’ve been thinking, there should be some “report problem with PSN” somewhere on the site instead of us having to wait for you to come up for a few hours on Wednesdays.

Anyways my problem is: I can’t findsome songs & song packs for Rock Band on the store or in the game.
The missing songs i remember on the top of my head is “miss Murder” by AFI & “less talk more rock” by Freezepop and the missing pack is “Freezepop 01″

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:13 pm

    Well hello there!
I realise those songs are missing – I picked up on this last wek when it was mentioned to Mike. I’m not sure why they’re not up at this stage so I am asking Harmonix about it and I’ll let you know whether it’s just a mistake or if they were removed for a reason.

No Castle Crashers still? Oh well, I guess the KZ3 beta will keep me busy till Black Ops.

greyness123 27 October, 2010 @ 1:03 pm   6

hoooooray some street fighter 4 avatars that only took like 3 months lol , ross what is going on with castle crashers its just fell on deaf ears and we arent even getting any updates , also can you try get the deadrising 2 avatars to us please m8

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:18 pm

Everything that happens here is based on a submission process that has to be followed and sometimes things can get held up for any number of reasons – sometimes these things happen. You have to remember when a publisher submits something to the SCEA team they only have two stores to prepare the content for – we have 33, so you can imagine that sometimes things get complicated.

When it comes to content, it’s not our place to tell you when something is or isn’t coming out – that’s up to the publisher.

But anyway, we’ve been releasing the Street Fighter avatars as fast as we’re able to release them and as much as any one of you want to see Castle Crashers on the SCEE Store, believe me when I say I want it up here more!

Agamer2006 27 October, 2010 @ 1:03 pm   7

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:20 pm

Nobody covers for me – I’m not ever allowed to take a Wednesday off again for as long as I live. :)

Still no Castle Crashers or the PS3 Protection plan? Come on Sony EU whats going on?

no blacklight tango down?

Also i hope your not missing Mike too much ross ;)

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:20 pm

Blacklight is coming, honestly I’m not 100% sure when but it won’t be long now. I have my beady eye on it.

dazbobaby 27 October, 2010 @ 1:04 pm   10

Sweet update this week! RDR Zombies!

Where’s Mike, Ross? :P

I hope that ellipse after the mention of Lunar for PSP means that Ys 7 will be released on the store soon! XD

Great update Ross ^^

Shadowdragoon 27 October, 2010 @ 1:04 pm   13

Cross region gifting, please, as it is really somthing that is needed.

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:24 pm

I know a few people have been asking for this a lot – all the ideas you come up with, all the content you suggest, it’s all aggregated and suggested to the relevant people so don’t worry. Please do keep showing your interest because its that kind of consumer demand that gets things done.

richard4481 27 October, 2010 @ 1:04 pm   14

Awesome! Looking forward to the NFS: Hot Pursuit demo and the Time Crsis one too :)

ShogunDarius 27 October, 2010 @ 1:04 pm   15

so Ross, am i getting abirthday present? my birthday is this week :P

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:25 pm

Oooh… I don’t know about that. What if I gave you a present? Then everyone would want one!

GhostViper 27 October, 2010 @ 1:04 pm   16

Awesome. Looking forward to the need for speed demoe’s.
And good luck to you, for taking over the blog post’s after Mike. You will do great :)

xchris2008x 27 October, 2010 @ 1:04 pm   17

No PS3 games at all? wow your falling behind already now Mike has gone :’(

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:26 pm

What you think if Mike was here he’d have been able to magic a PS3 game up out of thin air? :)

sharpenedpixel 27 October, 2010 @ 1:05 pm   18

Not a bad update :) Do you still have to buy Cuboid at full price or will there be a bundle including that? Also, will we get the Ghosts and Goblins avatars that America just got? We seem to be way behind…

nights909 27 October, 2010 @ 1:05 pm   19

Grandia please.

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:27 pm

That’s another one where I can only say “It’s coming.” It’s a lot closer to release than it was, but that’s really all I can tell you.

Myst3rialP 27 October, 2010 @ 1:05 pm   20

Decent! NFS: HP demo, LPB costume pack for PSP, special offer for Dissidia!

richard4481 27 October, 2010 @ 1:06 pm   21

@ Chocobo115 You could always use the Official EU PlayStation forums to report issues with the PS Store http://www.community.eu.playstation.com

Dragoncat1991 27 October, 2010 @ 1:06 pm   22

I want to Grandia.

greyness123 27 October, 2010 @ 1:07 pm   23

ross i know this is off topic but have you any idea when mubi is due ? also get us GOOD ps1 games or you shall never beat mike in popularity stakes lol actually get 1 good ps1 game and you do hahaha

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:30 pm

In all seriousness, every PSOne game you’ve all suggested, the Parasite Eves, the Bloody Roars, the Suikodens, the Wild Armses… er Arms… er…

Well yeah, every game you suggest I go to the right people and put the pressure on so I am literally doing everything I can. In fact I’m hoping to be able to write a special blog post in the near future that will address this so keep an eye out.

Maaaan… How many testers does it take to release Castle Crashers on the UK PSN?

XxDARKxxMIDASxX 27 October, 2010 @ 1:07 pm   25

RDRDLC4ME.

When will the Plus content be updated?

Opt1mus76 27 October, 2010 @ 1:08 pm   26

Not bad Ross. Some nice demos (Time Crisis and NFS) but not too much else for me as got RDR Undead dlc yesterday. At least I’ll have more time to play the Killzone 3 beta if I haven’t anything else downloaded

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:36 pm

Like I said, there’s plenty of interesting bits and pieces on the horizon if nothing takes your fancy this week.

On a side note, how great is KZ3?!

belmont_gr 27 October, 2010 @ 1:09 pm   27

Greetings

Will PRO 2011 in the PSP Greek store have the Greek commentary such as the one that is in the shops?

It is great to see a very good RPG such as Lunar.

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:37 pm

    Howdy!

I honestly don’t know – as far as I’m aware it should be identical to the UMD version so in theory, yes. However, if in doubt pop over to the Konami forums and ask there.

ObnoxiousZebra 27 October, 2010 @ 1:09 pm   28

Any idea when Echochrome ii is coming?

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:40 pm

Oh come on, I can’t be announcing release dates! There’ll be a post about it when everyone’s ready to let you know, I’m sure.

Same goes for Dead Nation, Mister_G!

Good update, thanks!

When is Dead Nation out please?

Ross, best of luck with the new job as store supremo.

No doubt you’ll be sorting through Mike’s old cupboards… which one do you think has hidden Williams Pinball in? ;-)

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:44 pm

Contrary to popular belief, we don’t sit on the content. Except there was one time I put a copy of Bioshock 2 on Mike’s chair when he wasn’t looking.

Anyway, Williams Pinball will be out when the publisher wants to release it. :)

moriarty1975 27 October, 2010 @ 1:11 pm   31

No ModNation track DLC today?

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:47 pm

Slight hold-up on that one. Apologies. Should be with us shortly but not this week.

kool-chris93 27 October, 2010 @ 1:12 pm   32

I’ve been looking forward to Time Crisis: Razing Storm for ages, I’ll finally be able to try it out. I’m interested in checking out NFS, in my opionion it hasn’t been good for a loooooong time. Hopefully Criterion games have done a good job (:

mango1234 27 October, 2010 @ 1:13 pm   33

Hey Ross! I hope Mike has taught you well ;)

Anyways on with the questions! <.

HiddenAway 27 October, 2010 @ 1:14 pm   34

I’ll take Lunar methinks! Dissidia price drop isn’t enough to make me return to it after finishing the UMD version 100% :P

Isn’t Lunar published by Game Arts though? They had all the press about it…

Also, I’ll echo the calls for Grandia (ill-advised based on my backlog)

Finally, did you ask Atlus about bringing Yggdra Union to our shores? You probably don’t remember it ;)

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:58 pm

HAH, you’re right. Sorry, I must have been thinking about something else when I wrote that paragraph. James has edited it for me. Thank you James!

I’m gonna be talking to Atlus soon so I’ll see if anything is on the way. Did you buy Persona? Sales = more games from same publisher. True story. :)

sharpenedpixel 27 October, 2010 @ 1:15 pm   35

Oh yeah, I just looked at the American store update and they’ve got lots of games out this week. Don’t the developers want our money?

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 1:53 pm

Well they’ve got 2 PS3 Games and 3 PSP Games. We’ve got 2 PSP games. Well okay, you have a point but we can only release what’s submitted to us and is ready to go out.

mango1234 27 October, 2010 @ 1:15 pm   36

Ahhhhhhhhh My questions never came up in my last comment! <.

Is Smackdown vs Raw 2011 due this week for download on the PSP?

mango1234 27 October, 2010 @ 1:16 pm   38

What the…! Ross! I can’t get the comments to work >.<

Kotatsu2000 27 October, 2010 @ 1:16 pm   39

The Need for Speed demo was a big disappointment. I thought Criterion were all for 60fps, so why have they halved the frame rate in NFS? It’s juddery and scruffy looking now, and I expected much more from them.

The handling isn’t even up to much, as it feels far too sluggish and dull.

good god! £7.99 to get online access for sims 3? WHICH ISN’T EVEN PLAYABLE ONLINE!! I hate where gaming is going.

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 2:04 pm

You don’t need to buy it if you’ve bought a new copy – there’s a code for this in the box.

Devilater 27 October, 2010 @ 1:17 pm   41

Thanks!

wanderingscotty 27 October, 2010 @ 1:17 pm   42

Ross,

Quick clarification.

online pass for the sims

Does ea ship a one time use code with the game, meaning renters and used buyers require this to go online?

or is it additional dlc for everyone?

cheers

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 2:01 pm

There’s a code for it in the box as I understand it so yes, it’s for the rental/pre-owned market.

greyness123 27 October, 2010 @ 1:18 pm   43

the longer it takes castle crashers to come out its gonna mean a lot less sales for scee region as people will not wait and just buy from u.s store or ignore game when it does release

i hate that:

…Availability: All locales except Germany

guys – you should solve this fsk-prob, soon… i mean every week i’m usig xbl more and more, just because u r diabled to manage that!!!

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 2:03 pm

It’s realy not our fault, this is simply your country’s digital content law.

You can get 16 and 18 rated “free” standalone content on XBLA because you’ve already paid for it as part of your Gold subscription.

DutchGameGod21 27 October, 2010 @ 1:18 pm   45

Ross do you know if Atari have plans to release Blade Kitten in the Netherlands Store last week they have release Pong in the Netherlands

and do you know if WHA have plans to release Kickass in the dutch store

and do you know when we get the Modnation DLC and the Avartars

thanks

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 2:11 pm

No imminent plans for either to release in Netherlands I’m afraid, although I will ask Atari for you.

The ModNation DLC was going to be this week but got held up so it should almost certainly be in next week’s publish.

kingkrunch456 27 October, 2010 @ 1:18 pm   46

Silver Star Harmony? Fist of the North Star? SSF4 avatars? One of the best updates this year 8D

Also, can I ask what is the Ultra challengers pack for SSF4? Another costume pack or a set of challenges?

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 2:06 pm

    It’s a costume pack –

    Here’s the description:

Download the first ultra-powered pack of alternate costumes for Super Street Fighter IV! New costumes for Hakan, Makoto, Guy, Dudley and Dee Jay are included. Don your ultra rad gear and go to town on the opposition!

    So there ya go.

In the Portuguese Plus section the Shatter Soundtrack is not there.
When the problem will be solved?

    Ross McGrath 27 October, 2010 @ 2:08 pm

I really can’t comment on the content that’s selected for Plus – I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful. I’ll relay your query to Mr. Thorpe.

Shou_Kobayashi 27 October, 2010 @ 1:18 pm   48

What is with the ModNation Racers content US residents got this week. Will we see it here, too?

Also, can you get some deals for EU, for missing out the 15th Anniversary of the PsOne? US rages until the end of the year, time to pick up, isn’t it?

Skookie30 27 October, 2010 @ 1:18 pm   49

Honeymoon Starts here…….
