This past summer, many of you took part in our latest MAG Beta program to help us test out a number of new features slated for our recently released update, MAG 2.0, and future DLC. Thanks to your devotion, we gathered a surplus of fantastic data that allowed us to make MAG a better game… and we’re not done yet!
Though the MAG 2.0 patch has been available since the end of September, the DLC portion of the beta has remained unreleased — but not for too much longer. Starting on the 3rd of November, our three faction gunplay whirlwind, the “Escalation” Add-on Pack, will be available for download from the PlayStation Store for €7.99/£6.29!
If you didn’t get a chance to play it in our MAG Beta, the Escalation add-on supports up to 96 players, or one 32-man platoon for each PMC, as a separate in-game mode that pits the forces of Raven, SVER, and Valor against each other at the same time. The aspirations for each PMC is to earn the requisite number of points before time runs out or, if time does expire, to have the most points overall. Whichever team meets this goal wins the map and additional Shadow War points.
Escalation gameplay is set up in two phases: For phase one, all three teams battle to hold the map’s A, B and C objectives — but when any of the three PMCs gains control of two of the three objectives, phase two begins. In this second phase, the original three objectives are locked and a new fourth objective (D) opens up. Now, the PMC that forced the phase shift must defend objective D against both attacking groups as long as possible; if D is lost, then play reverts back to phase one again and the war continues on until we have a winner or time runs out.
As beta players have already seen, Escalation offers three completely different environments (maps) to the MAG universe, including the volcanic beaches “Isla de Magma,” the mountainous “Silverback Ridge,” and the desert wasteland of “Radiant Barrens.” As an added bonus, our new add-on pack isn’t just made up of new maps – there are also nine previously-unavailable weapons we’re throwing into the mix too:
Raven: Gotha Elite (Assault Rifle) | KP21 (Machine Gun) | Kinmark SRS (Sniper Rifle)
SVER: Tamsen MK2 (Assault Rifle | Ariet SFW (Machine Gun) | Rubakho SVR (Sniper Rifle)
Valor: M31 CIR (Assault Rifle) | M245 (Machine Gun) | Sentinel M421 (Sniper Rifle)
If this sounds like your brand of DLC fun, we’ll see you again on the 3rd of November!

Strange, the us psn get a starter pack for $15 plus interdiction for $5!
To be honest, hardly anyone plays interdiction anyway, whilst I’ll get this because I love the game, I wonder if I’ll get to play it on a regular basis? The DLC that is!

MAG still costs too much for me. =( I’ve never experienced a game that drops in price so slowly before.

@RobbySpry – MAG should be available as part of the greatest hits collection soon if not already, so it’ll be £20/€30 at most. Although, you can already buy this brand new under £20 in the UK anyway.

Why are we not getting the same as America Sony for the new DLC?
America is getting both DLC packs and themes etc for $15 where is our deal Sony?

Yes Elliott “Shijima” Martin – European Producer, SCEE
Where is the pack option in Europe ? the game needs this option so that more people will buy both new game modes + no mention of a drop in price for Inderdiction DLC. And I wonder why we get it a day later too ?
Are we left out in the cold again by a US centric SONY management ?

so america gets the bundle,we get the bog-standard edition…sony, this is not fair….very dissapointed.

The annoying thing is that SCEE will no doubt come up with the excuse of “Zipper sets the price and any deals” and no doubt Zipper will say “Sony sets the price and any deals”
Come on Sony, us Europeans arent asking for anything more than to be treat like equals, give us the same deal that your beloved Americans are getting.

well,if it goes the same way as interdiction, the americans aint gonna have enough players for a game of escalation are they..and thats gonna be sony/zippers (deleate where applicable)fault.

I wonder if we’re even going to get a response on this so called “blog” more than likely we’re just going to get ignored and hope that we forget about it.
It aint going to happen Sony, treat us like equals or at least explain why America is the only country getting the deal on the double DLC pack.

no way jose! lol
i learnt my lesson the first time.
too bad we don’t have the bundle pack…it might have increased the player numbers for interdiction. =/

Posted on 29 October, 2010 at 11:40 am by dezzaranks
it might have increased the whole player-base of the game, not just interdiction..but it dont look like we will ever find out now…SHAFTED

Does anyone know if there is a way of contacting the people in charge of making the decision about the DLC and the lack of a “bundle pack”?
Even if it just one of the bloggers, that will be better than nothing, they should know who is in charge and get the message that we European MAG players arent happy.

almost 250% more copies of MAG have been sold in the US compared to europe (where it hasn’t sold particularly well), my guess is that europeans will not make that much difference to whether or not there are sufficient numbers for a game.

“almost 250% more copies of MAG have been sold in the US compared to europe (where it hasn’t sold particularly well), my guess is that europeans will not make that much difference to whether or not there are sufficient numbers for a game”
But thats not the point, the point is that either Zipper or SCEE are basically screwing Europe because they are not offering the same deal to us as they are offering to America.

You can always create a US PSN account and purchase the ‘bundle’ from the US PSN Store can you not?

Posted on 31 October, 2010 at 8:00 pm by muz_55
LOL… lame idea and I am not sure you can do it either. US CC needed or credit from US PSN card ?
But we still awiat info from SONY SCEE on what will be avail. Zipper clearly state its SONY that determines what is avail where. They did believe that the INT DLC should be avail at a lower price worldwide but were not able to commebt on the pack option.
The game is supported 24/7 by players around the world. The Player base in the US will always be bigger than any other country due to the demographic. But there are plenty of games going on while the USA sleeps.

@muz_55
You can buy US PSN cards from eBay and then input the code when logged into the PSN Store with your US PSN account.
This works OK – I think!
