Good Afternoon ye PlayStation faithful, welcome to another ‘Heads-Up’ post. A quiet week compared to when last we met but still an update packed with gaming goodness.
First of all we have a new selection of Special Offers for you to browse – check these out and see if anything tickles your fancy.
I seem to recall we had a few requests for more bullet-hell, so you’ll be pleased to see the platform/BH hybrid, Crescent Pale Mist hitting the digital shelves today.
On PSP we’ve a few sporty titles (yes, pro-wrestling is a sport, don’t you dare say otherwise) for you and after the mini drought on minis last week, we’ve got three new bite-size gaming chunks for you today.
But, surely the star of the show this week is Grandia – undoubtedly one of the finest RPGs of the PSone generation. I’m very pleased it’s finally with us and I’ll be nabbing it as the next game to play on my work commute. Based on the potential 80+ hours of gameplay nestled away in there it should last about three months of tube journeys.
There’s plenty of DLC this week, including the previously delayed Stunt pack for ModNation Racers and the missing Morpheus character skin for God of War III to name but a couple of pieces.
Enjoy – I will be around for comments as much as possible – Store update time should be between 3 and 4pm GMT.
See you later!

I really want to give my money to Rockstar (and Sony) for GTA: chinatown wars for my psp go, but the price issue is just getting more and more ridiculous the longer it stays at 35 euros:
American PSN: ~18 euros
Itunes APP Store: 5,50 euros
Euro Retail 12 – 18 euros
Euro PSN: 35 euros!!
Could you please give Rockstar a talking to about this price?!

You really do make an excellent point. I will write them an email this afternoon, and I shall quote this very comment to them and see if anything can be done.

Any news on Spyro 1, 2 or 3?
And wow Capcom still hasn’t dropped Fate Unlimited here yet US dropped a month ago.
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:07 pm by Ross McGrath
No, no news on any PSone games this week – we just managed to get Grandia out the door. As soon as I know any more about where we are with some more PSone title I’ll be there to let you all know.

Nothing for me this week.
I see you have SvR 11 on PSP, so any official release date on the DLC for it on PS3?
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:09 pm by Ross McGrath
No, you’d have to get that from THQ, you all know by now I’m not able to talk about release dates for things that haven’t been confirmed.

any news on the trinity universe dlc? just so you know i’m gonna ask this each week
btw has the sony reps seen the hostility about the eu lbp2 ‘collectors’ edition?
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:06 pm by Ross McGrath
Alex has seen the blog comment responses, yes. I will drop another email over to NIS about whether or not we’ll see the missing Trinity DLC – I think they’re busy getting ready to launch some stuff at the moment.

Seems a fairly poor week for me from the PSN, but I do appreciate there cant be ground breaking games and DLC every week of the year.

Will we be getting the God of War Ghost of Sparta dev interview thingy?

Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:04 pm by NuMiQ
Grandia is a definite buy, and i think i might get me some of the assassins creed II content. Always nice to see the DLC get something knocked off the price. Keep em comin Ross.
BTW, with all the great downloadable games being released in the last few months, i’m kind-of wondering what we’ll be looking forward to in the near future. Not too many big announcements so far. Any idea what’s gonna be good in a couple of weeks, with the holidays right in front of us?
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:14 pm by Ross McGrath
If I had to pick something out, I would say watch out for Explodemon – that’s a real “gamer’s game” and I think it’s going to be a bit of a classic. The Curve Studios guys came in to talk about it and there’s a lot going on with that game. there’s quite a few nice games in the run up to Christmas actually, so don’t worry, you’re going to be well served.

No Scott Pilgrim DLC?
So keen to play as Knives Chau, and i think it’s out for the US. When do we get it in Australia?

Not too long to wait, promise.

Rats. No Scott Pilgrim DLC yet.
25
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:07 pm by Carnivius_Prime
Well Grandia’s the only thing I’d want but I don’t think I would ever get the time to play through it again even with my old save file still present. Just don’t have as much free time as I did back in the 90′s.

Still no reply from Sony Customer Support about my missing Deimos skin when I bought Ghost of Sparta from the PSN Store… *le sigh*
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:38 pm by Ross McGrath
Howdy,
Just spoken to Richard Yap about this for you. UK Customer services have been given a batch of codes for the Deimos skin, so you need to give them a call and explain the situation – they’ll verify that you’ve purchased the title and then supply you with a code. They’ve been briefed on this so I would say give them a call and there shouldn’t be any problems getting you a code.

As has been posted before the perfect correlation between the launch of PSN+ and the serious drop in quality of “Special Offers”.
Special offers has turned into a joke of dated dlc & failed overpriced games.
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:43 pm by Ross McGrath
I don’t agree with you at all, I think this lot of Special Offers happens to be pretty good.

Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:09 pm by flamingcarrot
Pretty slow week on PSN then (save for the addition of Lovefilm).
I think I had better buy Alien Zombie Death at the discount price, before it goes up.
….and what is with buying ‘Big Fish’ for 79p? Honestly, I despair.
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:43 pm by Ross McGrath
Aw come on, if you want big fish for your aquarium, 79p is a bargain.

Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:09 pm by akaten
Grandia is fantastic, charming jrpg classic but for me Crescent Pale Mist is the one I’m most eager to check out.
Ross while I’m sure the last thing you need is another PS1 recommendation, when you mentioned that you had been compiling a list last week I cannot help but revive Strange Games and Funky Licensing once more in a special edition.
Game: Hell Night
Developer: Atlus
Publisher: Konami Europe
Pitch: Shin Megami Tensei: 3D Monster Maze
This game is the (un)holy grail, an Atlus game released in Europe but not America, its a first person game but unlike the rpgs that made Atlus famous its more like 3D Monster Maze meets survival horror with adventure elements.
Wonderful, not to mention scary game and if you could ask about it to Konami and Atlus to show there is interest, it might finally find the audience it deserves.
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:46 pm by Ross McGrath
Well, I’ll be honest with you, it’s easier to get the more mainstream PSone games into submission but you’ve totally sold me on this so I’ll ask about it.
35
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:10 pm by ShogunDarius
just one other thing, i’m not sure if you can answer buy if you cant, thats fine, after the hostility with that, pathetic collectors edition, when compared to the us, has this made any waves in sony, are they at least considering changing it, or is it too far along? if you can give any reponse to this i’ll be happy.

Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:10 pm by nextbigthing91
Crescent? I have never heard of it, will take a look at it and see if it interests me or not.
Nice to see some GOW3 skins popping up though, unfortunately it’s only really DLC and MUBI for me this week :/.
On the flip side, it saves me money for a certain driving game that may / may not be coming out this year
.

Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:10 pm by A2GMAN
so what about the people who had bought the bundle gow3 pack? will the Morpheus Character Skin be inc?
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:56 pm by Ross McGrath
No, the Morpheus skin is separate because it was previously a US exclusive.

Hi Ross,
Any chance we will get the PSP Essential version of the first Ace Combat? I noticed it has been re-released and wondered if will be available for download? (also any movement on the price of the new Ace Combat for PSP?)
Regards
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 1:59 pm by Ross McGrath
I think the plan is to eventually get all the Essentials in digital format as well, so keep an eye out. You’d have to ask Namco about their price decision though.

Can you ask Square Enix to get Final Fantasy VI on the Store since SCEE published it just like 7 and its a great FF.

Shockingly poor update this week, no demo’s,no dynamic themes & the same old rubbish avatars that we have got already, how hard can it be to get some decent avatars, i think its down to lazyness if u ask me

just to add to my last comment, do you know if sony at least intend to make a statement or blog post regarding the hostility?

>> WE NEED REAL LBP2 COLLECTOR’S EDITION!!!
what’s this got to do with the ps store update??!.
might as well have called this the “nobody wants to release anything big in the week of Call of Duty” store update. :p
how much DLC does rock band really sell??. RB3 has sold pitifully few in the UK (and probably across most of europe). first week sales didn’t even reach 2500 for PS3.

Scott Pilgrim DLC would have been nice although im keen to know Ross have the developers addressed the commonly known glitch with Mr Chau in the DLC and finally patched it?
By glitch I refer to the fact that a load of us are sitting on 95% trophy completion for the game having done several playthroughs of the game without him appearing on the map. The pricing on the DLC seems cheap but supporting it with a purchase when for so many the original game seems glitched just seems wrong.
Any comments Ross?
Posted on 10 November, 2010 at 2:01 pm by Ross McGrath
I really wouldn’t know about bug issues – that’s certainly something that you need to take up with Ubisoft.
