PlayStation Network is offline for scheduled maintenance from 16:05 on Thursday 18 November 2010 until 01:00 on Friday 19 November 2010, GMT.
During the maintenance, you will be unable to access the following services:
- PlayStation Store on PS3 and PSP.
- PlayStation Network Account Management.
- PlayStation Network Account Registration.
In addition, you will not be able to sign in to PlayStation Network from eu.playstation.com. If you wish to play online during the maintenance, please ensure you sign in to PSN before 16:05 on Thursday 18 November 2010.
During this maintenance, you can continue to collect in-game trophies and these will be updated on your profile once PlayStation Network is back up and running.
If you have any questions about this down time, feel free to visit the official PlayStation Forums at community.eu.playstation.com where you can post your query and a member of the moderation team will get back to you.

Well done again Sony. Can you not localise the work more. Yet again the PSN is offline at peak gaming time for Europe. I realise that the update comes from Japan but surely the EU makes up for a higher percentage of users. Sort it out Sony.

What’s with all the maintenance lately, it’s getting annoying, especially since it’s in our peak-time.

I have a job. It’s an issue for me! It’s nothing to do with GT5. Or it best not be. They delayed the game and could have done this work last time. The problem is them USB work arounds. This will be a weekly thing soon.

Hey James.
Can you suggest to the powers that be to give us more warning regarding these maintenance periods?
Something like a week should do it. Can’t be that hard, surely?

It would be nice to know what all this downtime is about. For years the PSN would be up every day, all day. Suddenly now, it’s down quite a bit.
People wouldn’t be so annoyed if they knew what was going on.

This is actually getting a bit pathetic now. How many times has it been in maintainance over the past for weeks/months.
Why?

i take it this is going to be the norm for psn now to go offline twice a month for 8 to 10 hrs at a time because of hackers siiiiigh

Posted on 17 November, 2010 at 8:48 pm by indy-greg
Do it in the morning from 8 am to 4 pm. Why do it at peak times? That’s really illogical and a stupid idea.

AGAIN!!!?? …. Sony your starting to take the p***. As previous multiple posts have stated it’s time to localize these update. Please stop ruining peak online gaming for everyone from Europe to Russia, Africa to the middle East. That’s awful lot of people your annoying! R u trying to push them over to the (Microsoft) darkside?

This is beyond a joke now. Why not ruin the yanks’ time for once?
Or simply start earlier. I do not see the logic in doing it at peak times. Either do it at 1am-10am or don’t bother.

@Ti_dus
Wrong! PSN will be off. However, if you are logged in before it goes off you can play online.

everyone moaning about not being able to play video games online for a couple of hours on ONE day.
grow up. do you want the sony heads to run by all their proposed maintanence dates past you, allowing you to vito them first? grow up, stop moaning at sony on every single post
(the only moaning i agreed with and joined on was the GT5 moaning as that was beyond a joke. all other things i think are just pointless to moan about)

@EVERYONE ABOVE…
Read the post – only the store, account management and website login will be unavailable – as long as you have logged in at some point tomorrow you will be able to log in and out during the down period and play online.
You just need to login at some point tomorrow to renew your PSN network “key” on your PS3/PSP.

Why shouldn’t I complain? I now pay an annual fee. The service is not up to standard. I pay for the right to complain. The fact is NO amount of patching will keep out the hackers. No doubt this “Maintenence” IS connected to GT5 but Sony don’t have the balls to admit it. As for logging in beforehand, my family is a rare thing called a working family. My evening are my social time. My kids go to bed and I don’t go out and get trashed. I game. I pay to play. Simple. Sony stop pandering to Japan. They are the reason for no cross game chat and the reason for these stupid downtimes.

Does anyone know if you can log into a US account with a EU console while the EU network is down?
I have a friend over tomorrow and we were really excited about playing some black ops split screen.. but it seems you need to have a connection to psn to play combat training.
Please help me out or point me in the right direction. Thanks

Gotta say guys, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was to do with the first first (just tested and certified) patch for the issues with Call of Duty:Black Ops. It’s been the biggest earache for not just Treyarch but SONY aswell for the last week, so If like me you wanna be able to play the game as intended…… WAIT TILL WE GO LIVE AGAIN ON FRIDAY and then [DELETED] if it aint fixed

Seems to me some people can’t read.
PSN is not down, there is maintenance on certain areas. Online play is still available.
As for those saying “I now pay an annual fee” – so what? You are not paying for use of the network, you are paying for extra/bonus content. Get over yourselves.

Thanks Skookie but that wasn’t what I asked.. I already have multiple accounts for every region.
What I need to know is whether or not I’ll be able to gain access to the US network while EU is offline?
