‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 24th November 2010

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update 24th November 2010

‘Heads-Up’date time – we’ve got games, we’ve got demos, we’ve got more add-ons than you can shake a stick at.

First of all, a new batch of Special Offers graces us this week – if you’re not a fan of Prince of Persia then you better start seriously reconsidering your position because we’ve got all the major PSN PoP content at cut prices.

Two trial and unlocks for you this week – the sublime Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (with a free XMB theme for those who choose to buy) and the Move-enabled Funky Lab Rat. The high-seas shooter, Dead Storm Pirates from Time Crisis: Razing Storm also makes its way to digital too.

Footie management fan but passed on Premier Manager when it released? We’ve got a demo for you to try – and just in time for the game’s discount in the Special Offers. What are the chances? Snap it up while the getting’s good.

The long-awaited Knives Chau add-on for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game arrives this week, along with more for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Also, don’t forget to check out the new Joe Danger costume packs which not only give Joe a brand new look but expand his stunt moves to maximise your scores.

We’ve also got DLC for some of the big retail releases too, with brand new single-player additions to Ninja Theory’s stunning Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (which includes a full stereoscopic 3D patch, no less), new Mafia II missions featuring Joe, everyone’s favourite bumbling made man, and a new bundle of all Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 content to date.

There’s heaps more too – make sure you check it all out. Oh, you should take a look at the Blue Toad Murder Files dynamic advent calendar theme as well – it’s a great concept!

And let’s not overlook the PSP this week – let’s talk Split/Second: Velocity making its digital debut, Worms: Battle Islands (with a demo for you to try out first) and more. Jonesing for more Buzz! Quiz World content? Think you know the 90′s? Have at it. Five PSone titles (including 40 Winks – who remembers that one?), and two minis round us off this week.

That’s all for now – Merry November everyone.

Awesome :D! Pacman !!!!!!!!

Hi Ross! Do you have some news about an eventual PS1 US import game section in europe store ?(I’d like to play xenogears, chrono cross and others). Thanks

Bit late today, enjoying GT5 to much I suspect. ;)

Another good update and if Pac-Man isn’t butchered too much from the original, I’m in.

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:06 pm

I only got my copy this morning I’ll have you know! Yet to play.
As for Pac-Man, I’ve only heard good things so it sounds like a winner.

yay, premier manager on special…. quite a lot of stuff this week, and with GT5 here as well, its gonna be a busy, expensive week…

umbrellabio 24 November, 2010 @ 2:04 pm   5

Boring! Please tell me these are not the psone classics you was talking about!?

ROBERTWARNES 24 November, 2010 @ 2:04 pm   6

What’s Epyx’s Impossible Mission? Is exactly the same as the PSP version of Impossible Mission that was released in 2007?

I wish every content provider good luck this week. Can’t be easy to release something the same week as GT5.

devilwithoutfear 24 November, 2010 @ 2:05 pm   8

Will the PSN+ content arrive next week?
Lots of PSOne classics.

40 Winks lol, i do remember that one actually.. Alitle bit like Spyro if i remember correctly, completely forgot about that one so cheers! About time Black Parade came to us GH fans too \m/

Stuntman-M 24 November, 2010 @ 2:05 pm   10

Might have to give Premier Manager a go now.
Never heard of Dead Storm Pirates though..

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:09 pm

Dead Storm Pirates is part of Time Crisis: Razing Storm – it’s a Move on-rails shooter. With PIRATES!

ChrisandJulie 24 November, 2010 @ 2:05 pm   11

I dont know why Sony is not releasing the back catalogue of psp games such as “Crash Tag Team Racing”, “Metal Slug Anthology”, “Lego Star Wars” etc etc.

It is frustrating.

Hopefully some good psone games will come soon such as Donald Duck Quack Attack, Wacky Races, Pandamonium, Croc, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot 2, Toy Story and so on.

If PSP wants to compete with the DS, then it is about time they did something about it. Charging £27.99 for Toy Story 3 to download onto PSP is quite absurd.

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:11 pm

Well, pricing of Toy Story you’d want to ask Disney.
Why we’re not releasing back catalogue – well the publisher would have to submit the title for digital and then we can publish it – there’s a process involved in the conversion and they have to want to do it.

As for first-party stuff there are usually good reasons why something doesn’t get a digital release, either financial, legal or otherwise, but we addressed some of those back catalogue titles with PSP Essentials.

Gautier82 24 November, 2010 @ 2:06 pm   12

Thank you for your quick answer. I consider it’s a good news. ;)

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:12 pm

Oh don’t assume – by looking into it I mean just that. But it’s not yet BAD news, so you can take that away with you. :)

OMG 40 winks! :O *Flashbacks*

Any update regarding bloody roar Ross?

oh and i see the US got Devil May Cry avatars any chance there on the list for us?

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:15 pm

Bloody Roar – no update. But you might just see that one eventually. No timeframe.

Devil May Cry avatars? From Capcom? Honestly, I have jumped up and down and shouted a lot about the slow distribution of Capcom XMB stuff (specificaly Avatars) to Europe and all I can say so far is we WILL get all the outstanding Capcom avatars, but I don’t yet know when. I wish I could give you better news. :/

Agamer2006 24 November, 2010 @ 2:07 pm   14

Too busy playing GT5 that you forgot the store blog post :P

I was wondering if you could ask the MM guys to put their LBP2 trailers onto the store. It would be nice to download the latest LBP2 trailers and feature trailers.

Merry November :-)

I’m going to give the Blue Toad calendar a whirl, looks like a great little idea.

Just seen we only got the one pack of DLC for Trinity Universe.. Please tell us thats not it (as in – forever)??

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:16 pm

If there’s more, you’ll get it when it’s submitted to us. It’s not like I have a big stack of it that I’m hoarding. :)

HypnoticMonkey 24 November, 2010 @ 2:07 pm   17

Any plans on adding something other than game related avatars?

Carnivius_Prime 24 November, 2010 @ 2:08 pm   18

Finally we get the type of Pacman the Xbox owners have enjoyed for the past year or two. Definite purchase for me. Already enjoying the trial I downloaded off the US store buy will buy the EU release.

Took your time with this didnt ya

is there somewhere we can request psone games, etc that someone at Sony will see and hopefully magic for us?

if not can we have vib ribbon? would be awesome with mp3 files nowadays…

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:21 pm

Unfortunately the reason that we haven’t released every PSone game ever is because we can’t.

We have all the sales figures for PSone titles, we know which ones the community wants, we know which ones are popular.

Vib Ribbon is on the first party list to get converted but unfortunately it doesn’t take much to bring the conversion of old PSone titless to PSone Classics for the store to a grinding halt. And it’s not just one reason, there’s a whole load of challenges involved. That doesn’t mean they can’t be overcome but often it takes time and money to do it.

I can definitely tell you that it’s helpful to keep asking for the titles and keep registering your interest, because it helps us prioritise, but we can’t just magic the titles up, because if we could we would have done it already. :)

tiago-kun 24 November, 2010 @ 2:09 pm   21

Hey Ross!

Great update! So many good things to buy! And today I’m getting GT5. (As a matter of fact I’m leaving now to get it!)

Unfortunately the Prince Of Persia Epilogue isn’t on the Portuguese Store, maybe you can look into that?

Thanks in advance.

Is the GT5 demo will be available on the psn?

mitch_uk_psn 24 November, 2010 @ 2:09 pm   23

Lovely selection of PS1 games. Hope Beat Sketcher is not too far away, hoping to make some creations as video Christmas cards for the family up North.

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:22 pm

Beat Sketcher is not far away at all. You will have plenty of time to make those Christmas cards. ;)

sympozium_666 24 November, 2010 @ 2:09 pm   24

Its still a bit frustrating that none of the Legacy of Kain games haven’t appeared yet which I hope can make it to Europe soon…

40 Winks was in a demo disc I had years ago (funny) I might go for that later :D)
Great update!!

Is the The Fight Light Out demo will be available on the psn?

Any news on a Back to the Future release date? I’ve only got one episode of Sam & Max left to complete so looking for more TTG goodness.

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:26 pm

Oh there’s another Telltale Games release on PSN before BTTF!
    One of my personal favourites.

HoefMeistert 24 November, 2010 @ 2:10 pm   27

NOOOOOOO!!!!

Was really hoping on a Joe Danger price drop (LIKE THE US PSN).
Why don’t you guy’s follow the US Store, there also wasn’t a Pixeljunk discount week here… and that’s beside the pricing :)

    Ross McGrath 24 November, 2010 @ 2:43 pm

Our sales and their sales are organised independently. That doesn’t mean you won’t get a Joe Danger discount in the future though.

TotallyEpic 24 November, 2010 @ 2:10 pm   28

Really? No sale similar to that on the US Store?

ROBERTWARNES 24 November, 2010 @ 2:11 pm   29

Thanks for the reply Ross, appreciate it.

What about Prince of Persia Warrior Within HD and Two Thrones HD?

The_Green_Spirit 24 November, 2010 @ 2:12 pm   31

WHAT! No Tekken 3, DAMNIT! when it coming because i’ve got Tekken 1 on disc and I’ve brought Tekken 2 from the PSN store. Ross please tell me when it’s coming.

SuGaR_rAy_RiDeR 24 November, 2010 @ 2:12 pm   32

Wow lots of new games!!!

Suikoden 1 or Suikoden 2 coming by any chance? or any news on the psone classics you submitted?

Oh yeah as we got crazy taxi last week, is there any chance of other dreamcast classics coming like Soul Calibur or even the mighty SHENMUE!!!!!

thanks

Wow a lot of things there, shame its all useless rubbish. Thank god Gran Turismo has been released.

Commander: Europe at War

Finally!!

agentsmith2000 24 November, 2010 @ 2:13 pm   35

played pacman demo from the us store loved will buy it and 40 Winks, what is the size of the game?. I can remember playing the demo from ps mag now I can get the chance to play it thx :D

QuietlyWrong 24 November, 2010 @ 2:13 pm   36

Demos are back! Long time no see! :)

Really want Auditorium (which hit the US store yesterday) – any chance we’ll see it over here?

anonymus212 24 November, 2010 @ 2:13 pm   37

hey ross, please answer… did relentless get it sorted, that people who have already bought 1-6 blue toad get the theme for free.

i think it is extremely unfair that people who paid more for it from day 1 don’t get the theme and late adopters get the theme free when they are paying a highly reduced price !

What about NFS Hot Pursuit Rebels Pack? US got it but are we getting it later or is the DLC for “US only”?

Chocobo115 24 November, 2010 @ 2:16 pm   39

Was hoping that we would get thoose gunhell games (can’t remember the names, 3 games in 1 anyways) on sale like US :/ Also a pity that Blue Toad is so expensive still otherwise I would have bought them.

AcidCrashX 24 November, 2010 @ 2:17 pm   40

Great update Ross, Any chance of seeing a discount on Joe Danger like our friends over the pond?

Think its a night of pacman ahead!

Pacman_Ownage 24 November, 2010 @ 2:17 pm   41

…Any word on Magic The Gathering, making its way over here? :3

…and 40 winks take me back :D

Hi Ross, I just wanted to ask you if there is any news about the new PSP and MediaGo updates, because the USBlog team posted yesterday that, I mean when is it coming out, etc…

Anyway, the REAL question here, :p, is when the hell is High Impact Games making another PSP game?
I´ve played R&C: Size matters, Secret Agent Clank and J&D:The lost Frontier, and I loved them!
Do me a favour (please) and ask them a new R&C for PSP, will ya? xDDD

No PAc-man for PSP :( ?

FatalExpert 24 November, 2010 @ 2:20 pm   44

Shame PSN didn’t care to run a similiar quality of deals to the “Black Friday” ones on the EU version of Live this week. Those were insane and didn’t seem limited to microsoft software either. There was Rock band dlc which I would have bought etc, Sony really miss a trick with stuff like that.

Nothing for me this week, I own Pacman CE and its an awesome game so im guessing i’ll pick up the DX version at some point. Passed on the Knives Chau pack after reading comments by the US gamers which picked it up and said Ubisoft still haven’t patched out the very well known chaudown glitch. Companies should be patching games as a priority before releasing additional DLC imo.

So capcom don’t like us in the EU?

well if so i’m not buying anymore of there games *humph*

TheSabreman 24 November, 2010 @ 2:20 pm   46

One of the the best store updates this year, good offers & good new content. Well done SCEE Store people !

Time to spend, spend, spend !!

When will Auditorium HD and Beat Sketcher be available? Thank you.

Andrefpvs 24 November, 2010 @ 2:22 pm   48

Hey Ross, do you know if it’s safe to redeem our GT5 car & dynamic theme codes yet? Thanks.

Gautier82 24 November, 2010 @ 2:25 pm   49

Oh, I just meant I am happy that someone is looking into it.

Holy crud, 40 Winks, didn’t expect to see that on the Store, will prob. get it =D
