Disappointed there was no post telling us PS2 was ten years old on Wednesday. Also disappointed that GT5 is “good but not as good as everyone was hoping”, but still a good week.

We were all super busy with the GT5 launch in Madrid on Wednesday so I decided to devote the Friday debate to ‘PS2 turns 10′.

WHY OH WHY is the ‘Gran Turismo 5′ saves ‘Copy Protected’ for?
I know i will be spending hours playing that game(I LOVE IT so far)but it won’t allow me to back up my saved game so if i lose my PS3 then i will lose all my hours of hard work :-/ (like i did with the KillZone 2 + Heavy Rain saves in the past) PLEASE CHANGE IT;)

I’m not sure why some people are moaning about GT5 not being what “they” expected it to be. Yes, it spent far too long in development which allowed some people to get over excited, but the final game as a whole is very good. It’s Gran Turismo, anyone who has played the previous versions of the game knows what a Gran Turismo game is, and what it isn’t. The only thing I don’t like about the game is the NASCAR stuff, but I’m not going to complain about it, I’ll just avoid NASCAR races whenever possible and enjoy the rest of the game.
@DAYDANNY666
I agree the PS3 needs a new browser but a WebKit based browser would be better than Firefox. Not only does WebKit power the browsers on Apple’s iDevices, it also powers Google Chrome. Firefox is a good browser but it really wouldn’t be the best choice for the PS3.

@NRX1000
you do NOT want google chrome if you care the smallest bit about your privacy. Webkit based is fine by me but not if it was build by google. You should better use Chromium or Iron if you want that engine.
And I think any other up-to-date browser engine will do fine and it doesn’t matter if is Presto, webkit, Gecko or whatever.
But I really don’t see SCE* putting it in a firmware update, hence even when I (and others) say that I would rent PS+ services if they added features like a new browser that was kept up to date and on-line backup option for save-games then are still far from eager…

@Sp4reNL
WebKit is also open-source, so Sony shouldn’t have to worry about any licensing costs.
I agree, I just pointed at Chrome as an example of its WebKit use, I wouldn’t suggest dropping a copy of Chrome into the PS3

@DAYDANNY666: It’s the weekend, even Mr Gallagher can enjoy days off. Secondly, this is a recap, it generally doesn’t receive many replies if any at all. You shouldn’t get worked up if you don’t get a reply, the guys have more to do than just this blog.

Think we’ll ever see an Epic Mickey port James? Considering the game didn’t even chart in the top 40 on the multi-platform, or in the top 10 on the Wii charts, I hope it’s likely.

I’ve not heard anything at all on this front.

Hi James,
Quick question.. Out of curiosity the move was able to sell 1.5 million units in Europe.. against a small amount of 400k in the US.
We are the most profitable region for Sony on this nice place I like to call planet Earth.
Some how I do not get the feeling.. that even though we are we don’t get the love we should..
