Now that you’ve all had just under a week to get to grips with Gran Turismo 5, the Real Driving Simulator on PlayStation 3, I thought I’d post an update on the amazing competition that is open to anyone who buys the GT5 Signature Edition, after reading some of your questions here on the PlayStation.Blog and on our @PlayStationEU twitter account.
As we pointed out last week in our under the bonnet of the Signature Edition video, this luxurious package contains a card that grants the owner a chance to win one of the most exotic supercars in the world today – the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.
I’d like to inform you that the competition will begin in December 2010. The specific date and rules will be announced very soon, but I can reveal that it will be based around GT5‘s B-Spec Mode, so Signature Edition owners may want to start levelling up their drivers in anticipation.
Look after those entry cards and I look forward to providing further detail; this blog post is simply to reassure Signature Edition owners that the competition hasn’t started yet and they haven’t missed out.

cool, competitions based on true skill are always a welcome change from ones where pure luck decides

Maybe there is a chance that they will actually be delivered in Denmark before the competition starts then. So far none of the online retailers seems to have gotten any.

Hi Penrose.
As someone who has responsibility for GT, could you pass along the idea of Polyphony getting a Community Manager? There are plenty of GT fans who would love to take on such a job, to better communicate what’s going on with fans current and future events/updates, and to communicate with PD what fans would like to see.
This post is a perfect example. A CM could post this on various forums and help spread the word a bit better. Every major gaming franchise has some kind of CM…it feels like it’s about time GT had one as well.
Thanks.

Thats a very good suggestion and is certainly something to think about.

£130 for a keyring, a toy car, a wallet, a magazine and a game that still wasn’t up to scratch after spending 6 years on it?

Important Question. I moved to England at the start of this year(from Australia) and I pre-ordered the Signature edition and had it happily delivered on Wednesday morning and have been playing it heaps since then. I’ve been playing GT5 (and other games) with my Australian PSN account (which I STUPIDLY can’t change the country of, even though I’ve moved here permanently[but that's another issue, the rules on which should be changed]) because it has all my trophies etc linked to it. If this competition requires me to level up my B-Spec driver (which I have been doing with my Australian PSN account) to increase my chances of winning, should I now create a new, UK PSN account purely to enter this competition? Or maybe SCEE should make a change to their stupid rule and allow people to change the country their PSN account is associated with (I’d happily sign a new set of T&C’s)!

@13 I agree completely.
I moved to Spain, and cant access half the PS network because I still use my UK account.
I had to set up a Spanish account, but that only gives me Spanish options in Spanish. Including movies, badly dubbed!
It should be an option.
If I can authorise/deauthorise up to 5 PS3/PSP systems, Why cant I do the same for my account?
The immediate answer would be copyright issues.
Well, Whats the difference between a Hollywood movie in original English and the same movie dubbed in Spanish?
One, I’ll pay for, the other I wont…..
Damned annoying.

can one of the mods help me, my code i got with the signature pack says it’s invalid or has already been used
Posted on 30 November, 2010 at 7:35 pm by Penrose Tackie
mndl632 – please retain your code. The competition is not open as yet but will be shortly. At that time you should be able to redeem the code without receiving the error message.

I’m absolutely loving GT5, it has its “quirks” just like every other game out there, but overall it’s a fantastic racing and (virtual) car ownership experience. With the new GT physics engine, mastering a 1000 BHP Dodge Viper is now fun, in previous versions of GT it was frustrating to say the least.
I do have one question though: Where is the Bugatti Veyron? There is no “Bugatti” icon in the car dealership section.

@Penrose Tackie
Please answer my question. Your other replies seem to imply that the leveling of B-Spec drivers affect the competition, so should I make and use a UK account to do that as I live in the UK now?!

Just a tip:
Some gaming sites (such as IGN) posted their reviews of GT5 with a wrong explanation how the car damage worked. After the backlash from the community calling IGN (and others) out on their mistake, I guess IGN then contacted someone from Sony who also did not know how damage worked, but still decided to claim that full damage is unlocked from the beginning. Anyone who has played even a little of GT Life knows that this is absolutely not the case, and claiming so is laughable.
Someone should probably contact IGN to clear this up.

I never got a card with my signature edition even though the box said it should be in there. Having seen “Handige Harry” from the netherlands saying: “Everyone who bought the signature edition, except the dutch people!”. I was wondering if people from belgium may not enter in the competition either?

Just a quick question, when exactly will this competition begin? As it’s now December 19th and this month is rapidly running out, will we even see it this year?
