I hate to be this way, but I have to ask… When will the video store expand its horizons? We have waited a LOT so far! We were promised sometime earlier this year that the video store would be coming to several other countries by the end of 2010. Guess what? This is the end of 2010. I’d hate to see Sony break a promise… :’(

I’d also like to know when this is coming to Norway.
I had high hopes for MUBI, until I discovered what it really was, IE no blockbuster movies.
Xbox has had this for ages, it’s time SCEE tries to get stuff done in this department.
I can imagine there’s alot of money to be made if this is made available to other countries.

Eh video store for Ireland? Why bother putting a name on the author of a blog post when they won’t even reply to a single post by anybody?
Posted on 7 December, 2010 at 11:50 am by Lindsay Iveson
Hello Andrew Squal, all,
Sorry for the delayed response. I have said previously that I look after the UK so do not have any infomation on other country launches.
We will be expanding to new countries in the new year but I am unable to share any more details at this time. As soon as we have an update to share you will know.
Many thanks

Good to see the BLOG post is back after several weeks..
Interesting to see that UK residents don’t even take there time to react in this topic.. Could the service be that bad?
But still as the biggest fan of this part of the BLOG I have to ask..
When will we be getting the video store service in the rest of the EU/SCANDINAVIA (PAL) territory. As many have stated 2010 is all most set and done.

Dear Lindsay,
i want to gracefully ask you,to inform your managers to maintain
the promiss made in 2009 for delevering the videoservice true 2010
that didn’t mean december 2010 only, but the whole year.
since there was a releasedate known, but the SCEE people on this blog didn’t want to tell us.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcspvpgD3Uk&t=9m20s
there are only 30 days remaining before 2010 is gone.
excluding the weekends, that means only 23 workingdays.
let me end of with another famous song from Cock Robin:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K44IGcfRRp8&t=1m10s
btw if you don’t plan anymore to release the videostore for the rest of the EU
please change the Ad to “the machine we promissed to do everything, unless you live in the EU”

When will we ever get the video store in Greece?
I think we have all waited enough.

So, Scandinavia/Rest of EU gets access to this when?

@ ShadowDoGGG
You know what more is interesting..
No reactions from
Spain,France,New Zealand,Italy,Australia,Germany
Might this be cause these countries already have the video store..
Oh yeah that is right they all already do..
Ontopic:
A commitment to the fan base of the pal countries was made to deliver us this service.
And that is why we keep complaining. I think it is funny as well that all those countries are not included in the header of this opening post. I wonder why everybody on the BLOG always thinks the BLOG is UK minded.. tada.. there you have your answer.
It has been several weeks since we had an update from Lindsay Iveson 5 if i recall correctly. I have counted 13 individual questions, from almost all different countries. No reactions what so ever and they tell us don’t fear that you are not being heard.
All our feedback for all that we are being told passed on to the right person. Well tell ya what SCEE it is the 1st of December.. thirty days and a half and the year is up. Please for once just tell us what is going on..

How many people already made promisses.. Andrew, Howard and now adding David to the list even though he left SCEE..
“Sony Europe exec David Reeves, Sony won’t be getting their Blockbuster on in PAL territories in 2008.
Reeves promised that “dates and content for the video download service will be announced later this year,” somewhat ensuring a lengthy delay.”
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/19/ps3-video-store-not-coming-to-pal-regions-in-2008/
So Dear Lindsay Iveson please assure us that it will get sorted I for one am fed up.

I was looking for a decent film to buy on the store this weekend and i noticed that Hot Fuzz isnt on the store. its a great film and i was wondering why? and if it is going to become available.
Posted on 7 December, 2010 at 11:57 am by Lindsay Iveson
Hello Freaky 324,
I agree it is a great movie. Movie availability varies and after has had a digital release it often moves to TV so is unable for digital at this time. Just as movies are available in cinemas for a limited time.
May I recommend Hot Tub Time Machine? It is hilarious!

each topic is getting replies except for this one..!! Come on SCEE address our concerns..

Posted on 1 December, 2010 at 4:23 pm by S-Cript
The only thing to do is complain in everytopic and put the youtube link with the promiss in.

Posted on 2 December, 2010 at 9:53 am by MrLopes
Really I just have to ask.. Did SCEE hire a bot to watch this topic..
So sick of this maybe I really should start checking out the competition since they do have a decent video service.
Never thought I would even consider this. But I am done being threated like garbage and begging for information.
Lindsey you don’t even have the decency to answer people that ask good not offending questions. Yet again we will be guessing some more when we will be getting this service.. thanks to no info.. and if your boss decides not to give us this info he can go bleep him self.
Done playing nice today..!!!

The reason people in Australia never post in this thread (until now) is because the PS Video Store is over-priced rubbish that is slower and more expensive than my local video store to rent from, and offers low resolution “HD” movies that are more expensive than the 1080p blu ray discs I can buy from my local JB Hi Fi.
Trust me, you guys who haven’t got the video store yet are missing nothing!

Well actually I don’t mind Lovefilm/netflix/vudu/mlb.tv being released in there respective territories. Well mlb.tv I would like cause I am a baseball freak and play the game my self.
But the main thing that got me complaining and will keep me complaining cause I know the videostore team is reading this.
Is the fact that the video store for psn is not released yet. They are only making it worse by not commenting!!! This is bad for SCEE and playstation as a brand. especially since this is an open blog.
Dates were promised in 2008 as I posted earlier.. so come on already.

I Actually don’t like what I am gonna post next and Ross I am sorry for using your words.
Ross gave us the advice that if you want something done contact who ever you need to yourself..
Well to who ever reads this it is time to take action. I Think we will get the most out of our efforts if we start warning watchdog programs in each respective country still waiting for release of the video store.
Now that should turn up the heat..!!

i’ll give you a possible reason but you won’t like it..
video-on-demand penetration in the netherlands is poor. there probably isn’t enough consumer demand for it in order to make a justifiable business case to the suits with the money. relatively not many consumers netherlands have used VOD, and subscriptions services are a long way short of even that total. factor in only a percentage of those will be playstation users, and only a percentage of those would likely use the service, and well you can see where this is going…
the major film industry players in NL/BE (of which sony is one of many partners) were launching an initiative to promote VOD and create more awareness but this was only started a few months ago.
http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2010/05/21/new-benelux-platform-to-push-vod/
the entire film entertainment industry in the netherlands is worth 378m euro. the UK is around 5bn euro (and is 50% more than france, which the second highest in europe). if you want to know why the UK is always preferred in the european market, it is because we are the biggest and most exploitable consumers. spend per capita is the third highest in the world, after the US and japan.

Ok, I can live with this. But the fact that we fans are kept guessing and no official spokesperson of sony cares to comment.. that is some BS.
You know I know the Netherlands or the Benelux for that matter are not that big. But I have been using a video store through my cable company for over a Year.
I just think the pricing is off. And if sony is possible to reach a wider public maybe the price might come down. Just like when the dvd conquered vhs and so on..
Basically what I am trying to say is.. If they think our country is to small to deliver us this service.. Just say so be honest about it. But since they don’t what to cut us off or make us go to the competition they keep quite.
Is somebody finally getting on here to tell us what’s up so that we can stop guessing please..!!!!

Dear video store team,
You have failed to answer a quota of 10%. Since now it is weekend no more answers will be given I Assume. You can expect me back first thing Monday morning in the Blog Recap to address this.

Posted on 4 December, 2010 at 4:25 am by blankedboy
Yeah, looks like Lindsay didn’t meet her 10% response requirement set by James Gallagher for blog posts.

@ 35.
They have no excuse to use anymore.
2010 is coming to an end and they don’t want to give the video store to us and I am sure all those other services they offer to the rest countries in EU.
They could have said it in the first place and not lie to us all those years.
I don’t expect a free service like Vidzone either since they won’t bother offering us the paid ones
35
Posted on 6 December, 2010 at 1:52 pm by MrLopes
As expected still no replies. I won’t get a reply in the blog recap and I think it is a valid point that the 10% quota has not been met.
Just tell us the truth are we gonna get the videostore or not? If the market in the rest of Europe is so uninteresting for the suites with the big bucks!! Just have the decency to tell us and I will go and find another way to satisfy my movie need.
Again very disappointed by being ignored some more..

SCE lives in the stone ages. “I only do this, and I don’t even know how to get contact with any other branch of SCE, let alone SONY”. SONY is a multibillion internasjonal company, you can afford to get some lines between the diffrent branches.
