Hello all – observant PlayStation faithful may have already noticed that the Store has already been updated this morning. Don’t get excited, it’s an early Christmas present but we’re not making a habit of it.
I’m not around today so I won’t be responding to comments until tomorrow, but do leave your comments and suggestions, as always – they will be read and passed on to all the right eyes and ears.
Just a quick overview then – new offers including fan favourites Scott Pilgrim and Persona, plus lots of Tom Clancy goodness on PSP.
The new Alien Breed hits today, as well as the highly anticipated (in this office at the very least) Kung-Fu LIVE! In the immortal words of Miss Piggy… “HAI-YAH!” There are also demos, new PSP Essentials, a ton of avatars and some Christmassy themes to get you in the festive mood.
I’ll be back tomorrow for comments, enjoy your early update!

Early update? Whoop much?
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:28 am by Ross McGrath
Better late than never guys – my sincere apologies for not getting to the comments sooner but hopefully me taking time out of my Sunday morning shows you I care. <3

Has ross caught the cold D:
He’ll need to fill the void that a certain commenter fills every week xD
you guys should update the store like this all the time tbh
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:06 pm by James Gallagher
He is indeed a poorly chap today so he will check in on the comments tomorrow, I’m informed. I would fill in but it basically amount to me copying ‘I don’t know’ onto my clipboard and pasting it into every reply. Good for my response ratio, not so good for you.

Can we expect ‘Under Siege’ any time soon, Ross?
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:29 am by Ross McGrath
It’s in our system, that I do know. So “SOON” is about all I can tell you at the moment.

Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:03 pm by Orangeno
Can you please give more explicit content? Like the US store? No [DELETED] or anything but a girl in bikini or two girls…
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:30 am by Ross McGrath
I’m looking into this, I know there’s a market for themes similar to the ones available in SCEA. I will let you all know when I find out more.

Nice early update.
How bigs that new Alien Breed, does anyone know?
7
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:03 pm by dgnfly
update looks OK the only real probably keeps being no real ps1 classics and why is there still on pspGo support you know real psp games not those crappy movie games and horrible sports games
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:31 am by Ross McGrath
Well I know you don’t like them but they do sell, or otherwise we wouldn’t put them up.
I know the kind of games you like dgnfly you’ve been very clear about it in the past. I thought all the NIS titles we’ve had recently would be right up your street?

Isn’t NEO GEO Heroes – Ultimate Shooting a PSP game? And an overpriced one at that.
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:32 am by Ross McGrath
It is a PSP game – thank you to you and to everyone else who pointed out my deliberate *cough* mistake this week.
9
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:04 pm by GothPunk
Isn’t NEO GEO Heroes – Ultimate Shooting a PSP game and not on PS3?
Persona for me, I hadn’t managed to pick it up yet and now it’s on sale, good stuff!

Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:05 pm by Chocobo115
Just wanting to add if the US Import classics ever happens, Xenogears & Chrono Cross should be amongst the first to get released in my opinion that is!
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:34 am by Ross McGrath
Your opinion matches my opinion. If we do manage to organise a US Imports section in the future (and I’m looking into the possibilities from both a third-party and first-party perspective) then you guys will be the first to know about it and over time it’ll be populated with as many titles as you’ve requested as possible.

Huh is Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves available for everybody or is it only for Playstation Plus subscribers and next week for everybody else as stated before?
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:11 pm by James Gallagher
This I do know – it’s available for free to Plus members this week and next week for everyone else.

Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:05 pm by Splutterbug
hmm tempted by Scott Pilgrim but also last weeks Pac-Man, also a few classics to catch up on from weeks gone by for the cold winter months

Hello Ross,
let’s celebrate together. This month is my PS3 annyversary ^o^v. (also the annyversary of my employment). So good news.
Damn that Scoot Pilgrim Deal ist just sweat. I feel pretty rewarded for buying Costume Quest first, now I get a lil’ deal
… but currently I have to finish the Sly Cooper Collection. I already played part one and now I am playing part two. I missed out on PS2, so this deal was a no-brainer
Ah… and looking forward to BTTF from telltale
! I know you can’t talk about release dates… so I stick with the december…
Oh any news about the PSOne and PSN Store Management articles — and how is Soul Edge coming along? I am really interested in those two articles
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:37 am by Ross McGrath
Hi Shou,
The articles won’t be before Christmas I’m afraid, there’s too much other stuff to sort out but a promise is a promise so they will be published early in the New Year (hopefully).
I don;t have a date for BTTF but it’s also unlikely to make a December release – although a lot of great stuff is coming at the end of the month.
Glad you’re enjoying The Sly Trilogy – I too missed out on them during my PS2 days but they’ve really aged well.

Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves is PS+ exclusive and free to PS+ subscribers, not out until 15th for others?
Nice update though
Any news on PJ Shooter 2?

Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:07 pm by DANNY3194
Not a bad update this week!
Just one question are we getting the Japanese imports anytime soon Mr Ross?
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:38 am by Ross McGrath
I’ve seen the list of the Japanese Import PSone titles that Monkey Paw are submitting – it’s a healthy selection.
They’re going through our processes so it’ll be a little while yet (as long as they all pass QA) but they’re coming.

Good update.
When will Sony QA be finished with Under Siege? It was slated to be released this week. (Long shot question).
I hope everyone with the ‘man flu’ gets better soon (wish I could take time off work for having a cough).
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:43 am by Ross McGrath
Why did everyone assume I had man-flu? It was a lot messier than that – I’ll leave your imaginations to fill in the blanks.

Hey mate, i posted this in the PS+ post but i doubt you will go back and read that considering that this is newer so ill post it again.
‘hey, could you explain why Sackboys Prehistoric Moves is £4.79 on the store and not free like its meant to be?’
thanks
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:16 pm by James Gallagher
Give it a few minutes. I spotted your comment and reported it to the Store people. They told me they would fix that right away.

Isn’t that SNK Shooter game a PSP title?
Great update!
26
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:13 pm by Jimmirock
Nothing for me as a PSP-only owner this week.
Shame that in the US they have a really great XSeed sale, was hoping that would come to Europe.
My hope… she was misplaced!

Strange, why no monopoly streets add on content in ireland ?
Anyway, James, any more on the Blue Toad theme ?
28
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:14 pm by Opt1mus76
Scott Pilgrim, Sackboy PM and Alien Breed 2 for me. Maybe a Ferrari avatar too. Monopoly Streets stuff seems tad expensive but sure the missus will nag me at least for a token. Any news when Kung Fu Live demo will arrive?
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:44 am by Ross McGrath
I’ve not seen any plans for a demo of Kung-Fu Live yet but you can ask the Virtual Air Guitar guys on their site – they’ve been very vocal with their fans so I’m sure they’ll be happy to answer questions.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (£23.99/€29.99) Rating: PEGI 16
I see Ubisoft took notice of the response to last week’s release of Assassin’s Creed at the same pricepoint?
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:52 am by Ross McGrath
Okay guys this is where I’m going to discuss this issue this week, so I’ll not be answering the same thing in multiple comment threads like always.
I took your blog comments to Ubisoft, I discussed the pricing situation with them, made very sure they were aware of your opinions and feelings on the subject and advised a price reduction.
That is under advisement with them but it will be up to them to tell us if they want to lower the price. If they make the decision one way or the other, the price can be changed as soon as they like.
But the key issue here is that third-party pricing is set by third-party. One thing you all need to remember is that I am on your side here – when something is going to end up being too much on the Store I tell people my opinion. My advice is always heard if not acted upon, I just want you all to know that it’s not like I’m not trying my best for you.
Posted on 12 December, 2010 at 8:55 am by Ross McGrath
As I have said previously (sometimes due to time constraints, without much explanation that has made it sound flippant) the best thing you can do if you think something on the PSN Store is too expensive, is not buy it. That has far more effect on publisher actions than anything I could ever say to them.

I thought Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves was supposed to be free to PS+ subscribers. I’m from the UK and it’s showing as costing £4.79 to me, same goes to a friend also from the UK…

Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:19 pm by dgnfly
ubisoft is retarded with their release prices they really expect ppl 2 buy old games at that price, but hey who cares about heir games they suck for the most part anyway.

No, definitely not this year.

Hi James.
The US store has Ghouls’ n Ghosts avatars. Any chance of asking Capcom to bring them over to the EU PSN Store?
I’d also like to see Square Enix’s ‘SaGa Frontier 2′ as a future PS1 Classic.
43
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:25 pm by SKINRUSH
I’d be interested to know how many digital copies of Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 at £23.99 Ubisoft sell in a year.
Only stupid people would pay £23.99 for games that can be bought on physical media for between £5 & £10.
44
Posted on 8 December, 2010 at 1:26 pm by X_Weapon
@33 razordude
Maybe they use the same price for the PSN and the Xbox Marketplace release of the same title. Even there the games are selled at a ‘classic’ 29,9€.

Why is kung-fu live more expensive than Dead Nation when they have the same price in US?Comon it’s sony who publish this game shouldn’t it not be the same price??

Say what now? We don’t set the price for Kung-Fu Live.

Damn it. Only realised after checkout that I’ve been charged for Sackboy PM. Will the credit be reimbersed on my account or do I have to enter some laborious claims procedure?
