Workout games are all the rage these days, but rarely do they cater for those of us who don’t want to wear Lycra, or repeatedly step on and off a plastic plank.
If you’re lucky enough to have the PlayStation Move at home you’ll have heard about The Fight already. It’s the world’s first true 1:1 motion fighting game starring you as an up and coming street boxer and the irrepressible Danny Trejo as your no nonsense trainer.
Unlike other fighting games where you can tap buttons in a frenzied fashion to destroy an opponent, or optimistically waggle your controller to land a decent blow on your opponent, The Fight makes you do it for real, and the rewards of this are clearly visible not only in the game but in the real world too, as YouTube user ScruffyExaminer demonstrates below:
The Fight not only gives you a great fighting game, but also a great workout, so if you’d rather get into shape by beating a digital opponent to a pulp rather than strapping on legwarmers and prancing around to the commands of an aerobics instructor, pick up The Fight.

I love the idea of Playstation Move as keeping you fit.
Sadly, I haven’t picked up Playstation Move yet but I plan to in the new year, with this game.

Ummmm in two minds wether to pick this up at Xmas or not. Some of the terrible reviews are kinda putting me off, but part of me wants to buy it ?!? very confused!.
Is it true 1:1 and does it suffer lag?

@Digital Enemy: When you first play it you will be forgiven for thinking that it suffers from lag and is not 1:1. The reason for this is the fighters stats. If your fighter has slow reflexes and speed stats then it will feel laggy/unresponsive. Once your fighters reflexes and speed are up, it’s definitely a 1:1 experience.
In fact, the guy in the video above did a great review detailing just that.

I was very interested in The Fight when it was first announced but the reviews have put me off some what, if it got great (or even average) reviews I could have been tempted to pick it up, but because I would need a 2nd Move controller as well it’s too much to spend on a punt. Perhaps The Fight 2 will fix the problems!
I may still pick it up if I see cheap in the sales, but given the reviews it really does need a demo on the PSN Store (otherwise it just looks like the game is as bad as the reviews say it is…)
On the subject of fitness games – it continues to baffle me why Sony don’t release a sequel to EyeToy Kinetic! You had the WiiFit, then you had the Move launch, and now you have Kinect and all it’s camera based fitness games, and still Sony don’t seem to think it’s a good idea to remind people that they were the first to release a serious fitness title on console. Fitness games sell to the casual crowd, so why not make a Move-enabled sequel (if only to show people you don’t need a 360 to do camera based gaming?).

@ apnomis
i’m the same here,i was really looking forward to it but reviews put me off buying it.
i just wish i would have waited for KUNG-FU LIVE reviews before i bought it because its the biggest waste of money on PSN ever.i feel ripped off.

@ wiipass cuda told ya kung-fu live would be rubbish before hand i had eyepet premove days and it was dog awful.you cant get the responsiveness outta eye without the move.
likewise as everybody else I was totally put off by reviews but would like to see a review of some one who has played a fair bit more than a few fights

@dividsmythe it’s true the Move makes Eyepet somewhat easier but I didn’t really have many problems controlling with the card/joypad. Sounds more like you just didn’t have the lighting correctly set up in your room.
Anyways I had a go on the Fight in a games store a couple weeks ago. I can’t afford me an extra Move but I did have fun playing it and from what I played it did respond extremely well to my punches, even when doing a few things I do in my martial arts classes.

with belly or not punching looks little awkward.

I grew up street fighting and I work-out here and there to stay strong in case I ever do again, so this game interested me a lot when I first heard of it. I’m a big TEKKEN fan, too. But the price to play this game is well beyond my budget as an Irish citizen in these horrible economic conditions. Even though I already have the PS3 eye… 2 move controllers + the The Fight game would come up to about 80 quid. There’s no way I can afford that.
Give me 2-move controller deal in the stores and I may consider getting the game + the gear to play it but even with that it may be a while before I can hope to afford it. I’d be better off going outside and getting into a fight with some of the many scumbags in my area… cheaper.

to the people saying that theyve been put off the game because of the reviewers give it ago. bought this game avoiding what the reviewers said and boy how wrong they where about this game some of them didnt even mention the gambling bit to my surprise, one has to wonder what they were on when reviewing this. its really fun but knackering at the same time seeing as you have to do actual punching.its a great game you wont dissapointed that being said make sure your using two wands the ds3 does an ok job of replacing a move controller
