It’s gone gold!

We can now confirm the DC Universe Online is in production and winging your way (perhaps a little bit sooner than you thought it would?). Here are the release dates:

PS3 & PC versions:

• 14th January 2011: UK & Ireland
• 12th January 2011: Rest of PAL

And both versions come complete with a 30 day subscription key.

Though, please note, depending on where you’re based, some stock may take a little longer to arrive in stores due to manufacturing and the festive break. So, please double check with your local retailer.

The first current-gen console MMOAG, (massively multiplayer online action game) DCUO throws you into a huge interactive environment where you take control of your own uniquely created character and engage with other players, whether chatting and creating new friendships, teaming up on adventures or taking part in fierce battles.

Because the world you’re playing in is constantly online, it’s always evolving – you may go away for a few weeks, come back and discover whole new areas or people. The more you keep coming back, the more you’ll find and enjoy.

Being an MMO, DCUO does require you to have an active subscription to enter the game. Here are the subscription packages available in PAL:

• 6 Month – €64.99
• 12 Month – €124.99 (Available on PC only)
• Lifetime Subscription – €179.99 (Available on PC only)

PC fans can also download the PC version from Station, Steam and IGN D2D.

Not too long ago we teamed up with the guys in the video production department at Studio Liverpool to put three video diaries together on the two main modes in the new MotorStorm. Both modes have been present in every MotorStorm game but we’re trying to do a lot more with them this time round. This one is all about Festival mode, which I guess is our version of a ‘Campaign’.

There’s a ton of unseen game footage in this video that I hope you like and also some glimpses into the recording of the original soundtrack. It features Paul ‘Rushy’ Rustchynsky, our Lead Designer and handling design guru, and Simon ‘Barlos’ Barlow, our invaluable Assistant Game Director who looks after big chunks of the gameplay features.

We call our more flexible mode ‘Wreckreation’, and it needs two video diaries to fully explain. They’ll follow soon.

What’s not to like? Eat Them! gives gamers the chance to create and bring to life colossal monsters in order to flatten entire cities and feast on their inhabitants. Always dreamed of laying waste to downtown? Here’s your chance.

If you’re still not convinced, wrap your destructive side around some of the game’s features::

• The Monster Lab. We want you to be able to piece together the apocalyptic creature of your worst nightmares, and the Monster Lab gives you access to a huge selection of monster parts including a full arsenal of excessively powerful weapons. This gives you the power to play mad scientist to your heart’s content, designing creatures tailor made to handle the variety of mission on offer in the game. If you were so inclined the Monster Lab would allow you to create over five million unique monsters – you certainly shouldn’t run out of ideas any time soon.

• Challenging Missions. Whether you get your kicks from maximum destruction, or prefer to face endless waves of opposition in a bid to survive as long as possible, we’ve got the game style for you. Survival, assassination, racing and pure unadulterated destruction are readily available in Eat Them! tying together the story that is as big as the monster you’re controlling. Ever wondered what it’s like to rob a bank using a 100 foot tall, laser firing mechanical tyrannosaur? We can answer that question – it’s freakin’ awesome!
• Co-op Multiplayer. The only thing better than single-handedly destroying an entire city is teaming up with other monsters for more carnage. Eat Them! allows four friends to join forces and play every mission in the game in multiplayer. Anything you can do in single player, you can do in multi-player, only with far more devastating effect.

• Mayhem. As the missions play out, the city’s defence forces get wise to your destructive plans and send an increasingly lethal barrage of artillery and even superheros to take you out. You certainly need your wits about you to fight them off; complete the mission at hand, and stay fed (I’ll give you one guess what your primary source of nourishment is).
• Destruction. The sheer joy of charging up to a pristine building, and letting rip until only the foundations are left!

Eat Them! launches exclusively on the PlayStation Network on 22 December 2010.

Good afternoon, Gran Turismo fans.

I am very pleased today to confirm further details of the very special competition that was included exclusively in the Signature Edition version of Gran Turismo 5.

So to have a chance to win your very own gull-winged, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, €180,000, 6.2litre supercar, here’s what you need to know.

The first phase of the Signature Edition competition will be open from 09.00 GMT Monday 27th December 2010 and will be open until 23.59 GMT Monday 31st January 2011.

From the 27th December, there are a few steps that you must follow to enter the competition, these are as follows;

Step 1: Redeem the PSN Voucher Code
Sign-in to your PSN Account, go to PlayStation Store and redeem the competition PSN voucher code found in the leather wallet of the Signature Edition.

Prior to redeeming the voucher code, ensure that your PSN account details are up to date and correct.

If your country of residence has changed since you created your PSN account, then you must update your address information on PSN prior to registration on gran-turismo.com, or alternatively create a new PSN account using the correct country of residence.

Your country of residence must of course be one of those within the eligible markets for the Signature Edition competition.

Step 2: Register on gran-turismo.com
Go to the website www.gran-turismo.com accept the Terms and Conditions, sign-in to your PSN Account and fill in the registration form.

Step 3: The Signature Edition Challenge
Boot up your copy of Gran Turismo 5, sign-in to your PSN Account and get yourself on the Signature Edition Challenge which will be accessible from the Seasonal Events section within the game.

Full terms and conditions will be available on gran-turismo.com from 27 December 2010.

One other thing – it’s also essential to make sure that you have downloaded all of the latest functionality updates to Gran Turismo 5.

During the competition period you will have the chance to test your skills in 5 races across 5 courses within the B-Spec mode of GT5.

All of the eligible markets for the competition have been placed in regional groups. Please refer to the competition terms and conditions at time of entry to establish which region you fall within.

At the end of the competition period entrant(s) with the fastest composite time over the five courses within each regional group will win a place in phase two of the competition at the Mercedes-Benz driving event.

There is no limit to the number of times that you can attempt each of the five races to improve your best time. Leaderboards will be viewable during the duration of the competition on gran-turismo.com.

The special Mercedes-Benz driving event that is phase two of the competition is due to take place in Spring 2011.

Over the course of two days you will be put through your paces in a real-life AMG vehicles and eventually, whoever has the smarts and the skills will emerge with the keys to one of the finest supercars in a generation.

So, after the excesses of the next weekend to come, make sure you keep a note of where that Signature Edition entry card is – it could well be the ticket that makes 2011 a very happy new year!

Hello Darts fans from all over Europe,

It’s time to roll up your sleeves, grab a PlayStation Move motion controller and step up to the oche: Top Darts will be available on PlayStation Store from tomorrow, 22 December, at €7.99/£6.29.

Today, we’d like you to meet a true darts legend and a very good friend of ours: the one, the only…SID WADDELL!

On 30 November, Mark McGinley (Senior Producer at SCEE), the film crew and I braved the arctic winds, minus temperatures and fought through the snow in order to make our appointment in snow-covered Leeds with Sid.

Armed with a box of chocolates, two pints of milk and a box of PlayStation goodies for Sid and his family, we were somewhat cold but more than ready for a fun filled interview with the man himself, and also may I add made extremely welcome by Sid’s lovely wife Irene – thank you for the tea and coffee, Irene.

As you may or may not yet know, Sid weaved his magic and provided all the in-game commentary for Top Darts. The in-game script was specifically written for him and Sid brought the VO to life in a way only he can.

Sid is fondly known and well respected in the world of top flight (excuse the pun) Darts and we couldn’t wait to sit down and question the silver-tongued cavalier about his love of Darts and ask him a load of questions about the game and his experience working with the Dev team.
