Hello all,
Loads of good stuff in this month’s issue which is why I’m just going to get cracking and run through what’s heading your way. Here’s the issue in question…
Probably most importantly: we have the KILLZONE 3 WORLD EXCLUSIVE REVIEW (in case you hadn’t noticed). It’s a sci-fi special this month and the Helghast’s 3D counter-attack is leading the charge in our space-themed issue. Find out what we thought.
Next up, we’ve got the latest on everyone’s secret PS3 man crush, Nathan Drake, in our Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception preview. Find out what’s in store for our hero in the third installment of PlayStation‘s next greatest game. All the info on the desert setting, Sully, and the treasure they’re risking their lives to find. ‘Citing.
Then there’s my favourite bit of the mag (because I wrote it, and I love the game) our incredi-mazing LittleBigPlanet 2 creation guide. I visited Media Molecule to meet the developers and learn their best creations/games/things. This is a ‘how to’ from the people who made LBP2 so you won’t get a higher level of expertise. You’ll also learn how to build that little shooter I teased at last month, which is one of mine.
Continuing the sci-fi theme is our exclusive look at Red Faction: Armageddon. It’s still all about destroying stuff to death, but we find out about the new hero and the new underground Martian setting. And, a little bit of trivia: our writer may have got hero Darius’ earring removed by the design team for saying “it looked a bit rubs” over dinner.
And there’s a load more. Like top tips to tune your car in Gran Turismo 5. The latest shots and info on the Tomb Raider reboot, all the secrets of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and reviews of both Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2.
Don’t forget, you can talk to the team directly through our Facebook page, where we’ll feed you all the latest info, pics and videos as we get them. Plus we’ll answer questions and generally hang out on Twitter, too, @OPM_UK. You can also email us directly at OPM@Futurenet.com.
The issue’s on sale now for £5.99 with a playable demo disk. Or you can save up 50% if you subscribe.

Are there any plans to run an article about the recent furore regarding Activisions statement on pulling PSN support for Black Ops?
http://jasonkoblovsky.blogspot.com/2011/01/activision-threaten s-to-pull-psn.html
To me this shows a publisher with no respect for its consumer base; would it fall to individuals to sue should push come to shove, or should it be Sony who stands up and protects the rights of its users? Just a qualifier – I am not a Black Ops owner, simply someone concerned about where this type of publisher attitude could lead.

Sounds like a great issue, I’ll be sure to pick it up ASAP. Can’t wait for Killzone 3, and it should be interesting to see what you guys think about Mass Effect 2 – I know I’ll be downloading it whenever it hits the store today! Ah, good times

“Killzone 3: better than black ops?” Those two games should never be in the same sentence. One is a game polished by a tremendous developer who listens to their community and allows for one of the grandest most epic experiences on PS3. The other is a buggy mess that lost it’s charm within 10 minutes of gameplay and is rehashed Quake-engine s**t.

“And there’s a load more. Like top tips to tune your car in Gran Turismo 3.”
As helpful as this would be, maybe some tips for GT5 would be more relevant?

Well, yes, obviously an embarrassing typo. Excuse me while I swear a bit and get it changed…

Sorry to burst your bubble OPM, but your KZ3 review is not a world exlusive. A Polish magazine, CD Action got a review before you.

I can’t possibly comment on the Polish review. We were the only mag with access to Guerrilla Games for our review, and were held to a strict embargo saying when we could print what we thought.

@ IxIeUaNx
I didn’t notice it was down but I haven’t been on in a couple of hours. Maybe it has something to do with Mass Effect 2 being added to the store today? I don’t think it’s there yet though

The KZ3 and DS2 reviews won’t spoil the stories will they?
Posted on 21 January, 2011 at 2:47 pm by Leon Hurley
Nope, they’ll be spoiler free. We have a ’6 month rule’ on spoilers.

They did tips for GT5 last edition so I guess their carry it on and this does mean GT5?
“Sorry to burst your bubble OPM, but your KZ3 review is not a world exlusive. A Polish magazine, CD Action got a review before you”
I don’t think they were spose to release it just yet, I think OPM were allowed to write their review first then that polish mag did their after but got it out first.

the servers belong to activision, you have no rights. they can turn them off if they feel like it. buy any game with multiplayer and the license will tell you that the service can be terminated with 30 days notice. it happens all the time, though usually not with a 3 month old game with regularly 700,000+ users.
it’s a bluff from activision. there’s no way they’d turn it off, i think they’re just fed up with all the complaints (many justified) about the PS3 version. 8million+ copies of black ops have been sold on PS3 so far. that customer base represents a significant cash cow for the company, especially with map packs on the way – and reports suggest that there are now 3 different developers tackling modern warfare 3, which would suggest that it’s going to be a bit of a mess.. the last thing activision should be doing is peeving off a large chunk of your support and give them even less incentive to buy the next installment in their only console franchise currently performing well at retail.

SOmeone bought me a subscription for X-mas starting Feb issue, I still haven’t recieved it despite it being out a few days ago and now any exclusive news is pasted all over the net.
Are all future issues going to be redundant by the time they reach me?
