Right, I’m sure you’ve already had quite enough of me blathering on this week, so it’s a mercifully short one from me today.
I promised you a great February and by golly are we going to deliver. Highlights this week include the kick off of the Mega minis Sale where you can grab 20 top-shelf minis for 99p/€1.19 each; X-Men Arcade (finally!), which allows up to 6 players to kick some backside in a retro, side-scrolling beat-down as the classic X-men; and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, the robot arm action platformer with attitude.
We’ve also got trials for both Beat Sketcher and Tetris if you’ve been waiting to try before you buy. There’s also a small selection of additional Special Offers for those in search of the odd bargain.
PSP has BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, fan favourite 2D fighting action, and Lord of Arcana, the much anticipated and highly acclaimed action RPG.
But the star of the show this week has to be the Killzone 3 Multiplayer Beta opening up to all Store users – previously Plus only, now everyone has a chance to get stuck in and blow each other’s brains out in an orgy of blood and violen… sorry, I got a bit sidetracked there. Long story short, it’s awesome, grab it when it becomes available (here’s the bad news) at 11am GMT tomorrow morning.
Also with regard to The UnderGarden, despite the charming blog entry yesterday the game isn’t quite ready to hit the EU digital shelves yet, rest assured it won’t be a long wait and you’re not going to be short of things to do in the meantime.
That’s it – away with you, I say! I will be responding to comments today if I can, if I’m suspiciously absent this afternoon be safe in the knowledge that I’m out doing things to make your lives better and I will get back to the comments tomorrow morning.

So Ross, if you can’t tell us the remaining five psone classics but you can tell us which ones are not on the list- can you give us all the ones that are ‘not’ on the list?!
Worth a try
!

There will be more details on Monday, so hold out for then. I don’t want to tell you what they are and get your hopes up only to find they won’t be deliverable. I’m confident that Wild Arms will be fine once it gets through QA, hence I was happy to tell you.

“Also with regard to The Undergarden,…, rest assured it won’t be a long wait and you’re not going to be short of things to do in the meantime.”
Who are you to say wether we are short of things to do in the meantime? If you are inferring that we should just buy something else this week, then you can go and whistle. I have no interest in ANYTHING else this week, no not even the KZ3 beta.
58
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 1:37 pm by imajinetion
And finally, the Crash Bandicoot collection is complete. The good games anyway.

Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 1:38 pm by muzzar69
with the KZ3 beta will that have 3D and move support?
I know the SP demo will, but cant find any info if the beta will or not.
Also, the beta announcement only had one map listed, please tell me thats wrong.
Kinda pointless running a beta on one map, no?
Also, whats happening with us who still have the beta from PSN + closed beta?
I still got it on my HDD, so can i access the open beta from this or do i need a whole separate download?
I read in a post a while ago one of the GG devs said you will need to download the new beta, but than others are saying you wont.
Oh well, ill sign in tomorrow and see if it works if not ill re download it.
I hope its not too big, only got 10GBs of my download usage for the month left and i still need to download the SP demo, and apparently DNF demo releases late this month along with the crysis 2 MP PC demo.
hope crytek release a SP demo though, really looking forward to it dying to get a taste of the SP!

@syncroUk (comment 55)
Ross isn’t in charge of answering questions about importing. He only answers questions about the playstation store.
You should try someone else.
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:18 pm by Ross McGrath
It’s okay, the idea was first tabled through here, and it was related tot he possibility of a digital copy. It’s being looked into.

Just a friendly reminder for you to keep reaming Q Game’s Head for a possible Pixeljunk Shooter 1 Soundtrack release date as you told me to keep…Wait that came out wrong…ahem.
Just another friendly reminder, as you did ask me to remind you now & then, in order to glean a possible release date off Q Game’s Head Boss(the one whom writes in the PS Blog about PJS2 sometimes)for the Pixeljunk Shooter 1 Soundtrack(I’m a huge fan of The Orb). It would be really nice to see it instore before it’s retarded sibeling arrives. Tho I am envisioning a nicely presented digipack with clear see thru cd holders with a 2 cd release of 1 & 2 with complementary PJ 1 & 2 artwork on inside covers and outside covers. mmmmmm dvd size digipacks of course. Yes yes please Sméagol says forget the precious. We want self-marketed PJ 1&2 Soundtrack cds in clear plastic holders, dvd size with Sméagol sating artwork from the games, yess yesss….AND a trip to the shiny face moon too.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news in my first comment here, but those mysterious missing Rock Band tracks that were said to be returning a few weeks ago never appeared. I’m one of those many guys who picked up Unplugged, played the Freezepop track, and have been dying to play it on my proper game ever since! Any chance of an update on this one?
And to quickly change the topic to Parasite Eve, since the 3rd Birthday is coming out over here (well, according to retailers anyway, don’t know if its official) it’d be great to see the series on PSN. I say that having no idea what its about, but it looks interesting enough to throw money at!
But apart from that, I’ll just say I really appreciate what you guys do here. It’s great to see that a major company like Sony keeps the consumer relations open with a blog like this, unlike some other businesses in this industry. Heck, for all I know Nintendo is run entirely by robots with the secrecy they keep. It’s just nice to see there’s a human face behind all the corporate stuff, actually taking requests and trying to provide a better experience for us all!
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:21 pm by Ross McGrath
Humm. I will chase down the issue with the Rock Band tracks, I have a list of what should have returned so I’ll do some cross referencing. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
Parasite Eve 2 is planned for a PSN release currently, nothing yet for the first game in the series although it had no PAL release originally.

and will tombi 2 be released as well after tombi 1??

We’re looking at Tombi 2 as well, yes. Don’t get too excited yet, we have to make it work first.

Everyone reading this, be aware that Bionic Commando requires you to be logged in to PSN to play the game, even though it is an offline game
If you don’t want to support Capcom’s stupid DRM, don’t buy it.

Ross, is there any possibility to see a LittleBigPlanet themed set of deals soon? Costumes, level packs, anything.. it would be great to celebrate the LBP2 release
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:21 pm by Ross McGrath
Yes, keep an eye out. We’re organising some discount bundles on Costumes at the moment, they should show up in the near future.

Hi Ross
Any words on the Spyro ps1 games?
And do you know if Final Fantasy Crisis Core will be avaible on the PSN store som time in the future?
And Bith by sleep?
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:22 pm by Ross McGrath
It’s up to Square-Enix to decide to release digital versions of BbS and Crisis Core – we’ve asked them about the possibility in the past.

Have I missed something? Has Tombi been confirmed as definite? I thought it was just part of the list?

Tombi is definitely going forward for legal clearance, ie; one step further than just being on the list.

Hey Ross Could you have a talk with SOE and bring over some dc universe online avatars like Superman and Batman ( etc.) they will sell mad crazy and i will you love even more than i do already
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:24 pm by Ross McGrath
I have a feeling there might be some issues with portraying their likenesses but I will certainly have words with the right people and let them know there’s an interest in this.

Hi Ross,
Coolies, a week where I don’t have to ask about why X isn’t available in Australia / New Zealand.
Now to wait for the avatars that are in process.
78
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 1:58 pm by geddesmond2
Capcoms out of there mind charging 15 euros for Bionic Commando. The first game was 5 euros I think(maybe 8 euros, can’t remember) and reviewers are saying the second game is only half as good as the first game.
I think I’ll wait until the game gets a price drop. Doesn’t Capcom know that PS3 owners are fighting for free time to play all these great games thats coming out. A game selling for that price could easily be forgotten.
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:24 pm by Ross McGrath
The first game was the same price when it launched, actually.

Can you kindly ask Bandai Namco for various Dragonball/Gundam avatars? like wouldn’t be cool to have a avatar of a Gundam?

Sure I’ll ask, it would be quite cool to have a Vegeta avatar…
IT’S OVER 9000!!
Hehe.

@ Ross:
Hi there! Back from my volounteering early today, but Futurama has kept me busy for a while before I could turn on my notebook.
Quick questions:
1) when is “Dissidia Duodecim [012] Final Fantasy Prologus” (the paid demo) going to be released in the European store? (just a vague “soon” is enough.
2) about Square-Enix, we all know about their japan-only “international versions” (the sheer irony of the definition still keeps me bashing my forehead on the wall even today): a specific DLC for the new Dissidia is tied to the “international version” of Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep and only limited to it. Do you know if it will be available in other regions? (the DLC, not the Kingdom Hearts game)
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:33 pm by Ross McGrath
In answer to you fist question, the Prologus will be out at the same time as the US (at least that’s the date I have).
Second question, the short answer is that I don’t actually know if they have plans to release that DLC elsewhere but I will try to find out. If it’s any help, I have no specific visibility on it which means it’s not scheduled at the moment.

Nice update Fight Night Champion & Killzone 3 for me.
Got in the Top 10 of the Fight Night 4 Welterweight Leaderboards so hoping to reach the top this time!
Does the Killzone 3 Beta have Move support?
Can u say to all Games Developers to reset or open Leaderboards once the particular game is released in all territories because Americans are always going to be top in most cases.
Cheers

Is the update coming at a certain time of day every week or does it vary? it seems that the new stuff never is available until after 1630 CET, in Norway at least.

Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:17 pm by R1MJAW
I’ve noticed that the previous blog post about ‘undergarden’ has been sneakily edited by James to reflect that it’s not actually due to be released until February 23rd.
Any reason why we have to wait another 3 weeks? I assume the usual ‘localisation’.
Stuff like this really needs to stop happening (not the delay between releasing in different regions … although something needs to be done there, but the releasing of incorrect information (which is then hastily edited once you realise you’ve made yet another mistake), not only does it make SCEE look bad, it makes the developer look bad too.
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:44 pm by James Gallagher
There’s nothing sneaky about coming clean right at the top of the post and putting your name to it. “Yet another mistake” is unfair – I go to great lengths to ensure this blog is a very accurate source. Occasional human errors like this are going to happen when you deal with the amount of daily content that I do.
91

Will buy Crash Bandicoot 2 as soon as it hits. Not sure it was published by SCEE, but any chance on us also getting Crash Bash too?

Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:23 pm by Shou_Kobayashi
Well,
I must admit I kinda hoped you had a cheeky comment for me, but I see there are more problems to attend to.
If I can, I surely will hit the PS Blog with my ramblings within the next 4 months…!
Also I think the content coming for PSN Store is getting better, even if by now nothing of this update is for me, I am looking forward to TALES FROM SPACE. About a Blob and EXPLODEMON (which is due next week
)
Without further ado, just remember: http://ow.ly/3OP4O
Besides as I said in the PsOne article before… it was a good read and I appreciated the intel … I hope the positive responses and the media buzz it generated will green light more articles like this one!
Posted on 2 February, 2011 at 2:38 pm by Ross McGrath
Thanks Shou but just because I’m not around all afternoon you don’t have to assume there’s a problem – I might be off planning fantastic PSN related things for you!
