On Wednesday, March 2nd the Dead Space development team will be bringing an all new experience to your PS3 with Dead Space 2: Severed! Dead Space 2: Severed will follow the story of Gabe Weller, one of the characters from Dead Space: Extraction, as he travels through the Sprawl on a mission to find and rescue his wife, Lexine. Gabe, who is a security officer by trade, will fight his way through the Titan Mines & the Hospital in a journey that will offer lots of new and exciting game-play for the Dead Space Community.
Given that Gabe Weller is a security officer by trade, we wanted to create an experience that focused on his skill-set through pacing, game-play mechanics, as well as combat & level design. Gabe Weller will start off with a Pulse Rifle & a Seeker Rifle as his default weapons which will give players a new way to approach combat – he’s equipped to take the action to the Necromorph forces. From the beginning of the Severed experience players should notice the difference in game-play, and there will definitely be a number of curve balls for players throughout the chapters. One of the most exciting additions to the game is the “Twitcher” which was a character from the original Dead Space game who has returned in Severed – he’s extremely fast, eerie, sporadic, and difficult to dismember.
The development team has definitely worked long and hard on Severed in order to create an experience that’s frightening, packed full of action, and a ton of fun to play. We really hope that you enjoy playing Severed, and we’re looking forward to seeing how many people can earn all of the new trophies within Severed!
Thank you for your continued support!

Sorry to go a little off-topic here, but where can I find a list of upcoming PSN titles?
I want to know if Final Fantasy XII will be coming to the PSN any time soon because my slimline PS3 won’t play it
(Is this down to Sony or Square-Enix or a combo-effort?)

I can’t wait to get my hands on this, I’m completely in love with this franchise, DS2 is fantastic. I liked the characters in Extraction so I’m glad they’re back, I’m curious to see what happened after the ending sequence since it implies that they didn’t survive.

@8 Are you 100% sure that FFXII isn’t coming to the PSN? If so, how?
Have Sony or Square-Enix confirmed it? (Link to sources please.)

what i think happened at the end of extraction was the necromorph (First person view) that was going 4 Lexine is Nate McNeil (the one who cut his arm off) because he was the only one seriously affected by the marker. So maybe Nate transformed into a necromorph but Gabe & Lexine killed him and somehow threw the body out of the airlock of the shuttle b4 it reached the Sprawl.

@13
spoilers for DSE
That’s the most reasonable explanation but the sequence implies that it’s Gabe because when he falls asleep and has the visions we are still seeing his perspective. Even if that’s their explanation I doubt that it was their intention at the time.

@12 Where did you get the information that FFXII Was being ported onto the PS3? The only thing that’s been said is that Sony knows the PS2 had some great titles and it would be great to re-release them ala Prince of persia collection, Just keep your ears/eyes open in the future for some more information from Sony and Square enix.

@10 “its listed as $6.99 on US blog so whatever that is in your country”
Which in Australia would be $6.87 at current exchange rates… my guess is that it will be $9.99 to $12.99. The US store does seem to have a better pricing policy and better sales. Their 11 for 11 sale at the start of the year was excellent and it would have been great to see something similar on the EU store.

Awesome!
This is off topic, but does anyone know if Tenchu and Tenchu 2 will be coming to the store any time soon?
I’d buy them both in a heartbeat if they did.

@14 the shadow of that necromorph has two arms (according to Dead Space wiki) so it couldn’t have been Nate. Unless the developers overlooked that.

@18 I know, I watched it again just to check that out. They can just say that he grew a new arm when transforming though. Anyway, we know it wasn’t Gabe because he’s in Severed so there’s no point beating a dead horse. For the reason I explained in my previous post and the 2 arm thing it doesn’t really make much sense, but since Nate only had one arm they really couldn’t use him so I guess they just jumped the shark. It’s no big deal.

I don’t suppose anyone thought that maybe thats what the opening of Severed will explain? I mean, it’s going to have to explain Lexine and Gabes backstory. It can’t just say “HERE BE GABE! HE LOVE LEXINE! GO GO PEW PEW!”.
I just hope the trophies aren’t garbage. If there’s any that make me play that god awful multiplayer mode again, I’ll cry.

Hot-dog That DLC looks spiffy (Good) i need to get DS2 as quickly as i can seen it cheap to But not with DSE *sigh*
off-topic hmm intreasting you find that game on SCEA blog couldn’t it just be for the hard copy of ff12, as we know it was sony not SE to take out the BC on the Ps3 to play Ps2 games.
on a happy note i read about 2 things the 1st 1 is ps2 games on PSP i said it before why just on PSP, & the 2nd SCEE promise good things happening this year for PSP, there that word promise again they promises Many things but fail to deliver let see how this Play out.
& lastly it good that my slim remember it not leap year but 1st march then my Phat 1 last year refuse to go online.
i‘m glad sony fixed it but what of leap year hope the slim remember it‘s leap year if it does not recognise it, it will have problems. :/

@26
the reason the severed dlc didn’t appear on the playstation store yesterday is because the Xbox Live Marketplace is updated every tuesday, where as the playstation store is updated every wednesday.

It makes no sense at all that Lexine would marry Gabe. He was a [DELETED] and she knew it. They never liked each other much.

Just played through Severed and I have to say I’m disappointed. They didn’t explain anything, the transition from extraction’s ending to this just doesn’t make sense. It didn’t advance the overall plot and only raised more questions. Most of the areas are recycled from DS2. I was expecting more, Extraction’s characters deserved more.
