Hello everyone,

It is my pleasure to announce that Killzone 3 is out in stores this week. After two years of hard work by the talented developers at Guerrilla, we are thrilled to bring you the most intensely immersive first-person action game the PlayStation 3 has ever seen. Killzone 3 has become a true showcase piece for the PlayStation 3, making full use of its considerable capabilities – including stereoscopic 3D and PlayStation Move compatibility. And with support for the PlayStation Move sharp shooter, Killzone 3 is accessible to experienced and casual players alike.

I would like to take a moment to extend my gratitude to the fans in the Killzone community, who have supported and cheered us on over the course of Killzone 3′s development, and to everyone who participated in the online multiplayer beta trials, for helping us make Killzone 3 the best game
possible. We hope you enjoy it, and we look forward to seeing you in Killzone 3′s online multiplayer mode.

Now, without further ado – go out and buy it!

Blogs I Like And Friday Debates

Countries: , , , ,

OK, cards on the table: today is something of a slow news day and a couple of posts have slipped, meaning I don’t have much to bring you here on PlayStation.Blog. It has just been one of those days.

I couldn’t possibly leave you bereft of PlayStation content to read so here’s a round-up of other blogs that I like, both first and third party (feel free to suggest more).

And while I have your attention, I can reveal that my regular feature, The Friday Debate, is going to receive a free patch in the next few weeks that will enable a competition feature, in which the most insightful comments will win a PSN game of my choosing (which means it will be great). Problem is, I’ve been doing them every week for quite a while and I’m getting low on topics. Make some suggestions of what you want to discuss here in the comments and I’ll put a list together.

Naughty Dog

Those clever brains behind UNCHARTED, Jak & Daxter and Crash Bandicoot support their fans with an active blog that combines updates from the development of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception with the latest community events in UNCHARTED 2′s multiplayer and retrospectives on their past work. Their six-parter on the creation of Crash is a fascinating read.

Insomniac Games

With Resistance 3 and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One in development, it’s amazing that anyone at Insomniac Games ever gets any sleep. However, they still find time to interact with their dedicated community via their blog, forums, podcasts and the ever-popular Full Moon Show. I really like their recent post, which is kind of like a PowerPoint presentation on their COO’s favourite games – an idea that I wish I would have come up with first!

Capcom Blog

Keeping a consistent stream of news coming every single day can be a challenge (as this post attests) and I particularly like the way that they highlight fan art from around the web, like this incredible Street Fighter piece.

FIFA 11

It isn’t so much a blog, but I check in here once in a while for goals.

Rockstar Games Newswire

Rockstar has provided some of the most talked about PlayStation games from way back in the PS one days, and their releases are always big events in the industry. It can be difficult to get the right balance between marketing and community fun, and the Newswire does a good job. While you’re there, check out this beautiful Red Dead Redemption PS3.

FirstPlay Episode 46

Hello everyone,

Leaving aside the fact their eyes glow red and that their homeworld is an aggressive military dictatorship fuelled by burning interplanetary expansionism, you have to admit the Helghast look pretty cool. And in this week’s FirstPlay we have a huge in-depth review of Killzone 3 which gives you all the long, lingering looks at their flag-waving style you could ever hope for. Seriously – the game is the new visual benchmark for PS3, and FirstPlay is the best way to check out how it’ll look on your TV.

FirstPlay Episode 46

Aside from that we’re also still in a giving mood, with another pair of Swords & Soldiers themed PSN avatars to download. And we have a great line-up of other video content, including an interview with Gearbox chief and Duke Nukem saviour Randy Pitchford, a reviews round-up of recent PS3 releases and a look at cold crime drama The Town on Blu-ray.

FirstPlay Episode 46

We’ve also got a chat with games hero Tim Schafer and Stacking creator Tim Petty about making the body-popping doll puzzler, and a profile of Brian Holinka from Homefront developer Kaos Studios. We’ve also got a look at the latest minis, a tour of the weirdest stuff available to buy from the PlayStation Store, which starts with stone dogs and giant cats and gets stranger from there, and this week’s screenshot galleries, which this week feature SSX Deadly Descents, Dragon Age 2 and Supremacy MMA.

FirstPlay Episode 46

All of this comes for just 99p, or less if you pick up a 12 week subscription for £8.99.

If you have any feedback you can email at FirstPlay@futurenet.com, or we’re on Twitter at @firstplay_uk. I’m @nathanditum, producer Dave is @bodbod and assistant producer James is @James_Jarvis. We’d love to hear from you.

And don’t forget you can sign up for the FirstPlay newsletter at http://www.firstplay.co.uk/register to have regular news and content updates delivered directly.

See the Future of PS3. First.

Killzone 3: Know Your Enemy

Countries: , , , ,

Use the Know Your Enemy Facebook App to sort friend from foe before meeting them on the deadly battlefields of Killzone 3.

killzone app blog image en

In Killzone 3, the key to survival is keeping your friends close, and your enemies closer. Thankfully, the Know Your Enemy Facebook App lets you do just that, so you know who you can rely on to watch your back when the bullets start flying on PlayStation 3 – and who to let fly at.

Available to install now at http://apps.facebook.com/knowyourenemy/ the Know Your Enemy Facebook App acts as a special ISA tracking device which analyses the most prominent friends on your Facebook profile and alerts you to their true intentions.

Think twice before inviting your best friend to join you in a Killzone 3 multiplayer session on PlayStation Network – they could be a Helghast spy sent to monitor your battle tactics.

And as for that loud friend who always seems to be posting on your Wall late at night, well, they could well be acting on Helghast orders to disrupt your sleep patterns so you’ll be easy prey in the next day’s brutal firefight.

Use the intel provided by the Know Your Enemy Facebook App to identify the opposition and, crucially, stay one step ahead. Turn the enemy’s own ruthless tactics against them and secure your escape from Helghan by installing it now at http://apps.facebook.com/knowyourenemy/.

Keep an eye on eu.playstation.com and Playstation.Blog for all your Killzone news.
