Today we launch two new characters as DLC for Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Jill Valentine, of Resident Evil fame, and Shuma-Gorath, the “Lord of Chaos, Master of the Great Old Ones, Ruler of a Hundred Dimensions”. So definitely not just a big scary octopus.
Jill has appeared in many Resident Evil games over the years, but it’s her most recent appearance in Resident Evil 5 that defines her as a fighting games character. Which means that she’s FAST, and scary, because she’s being controlled by the device that Wesker has put in her chest. That pesky Wesker! It wouldn’t be entirely inaccurate to say that Jill sits somewhere between Wesker and X-23 in terms of playing style, but I’ll let you discover that for yourself.
Shuma-Gorath is, well, special. A little-known fact about Shuma-Gorath is that for quite a long time, Marvel didn’t want Shuma-Gorath in the game at all. We did, though, so the producer fought relentlessly and eventually Marvel conceded that he’d be allowed to appear, but only as DLC and not as part of the main roster. And so here he is, in all his glory.
And finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all of you who have expressed concern for Capcom staff based in Osaka and Tokyo following last week’s earthquake, and also for your patience and understanding for any possible delay that this DLC might have suffered. I’m pleased to say that all of our Japanese employees are safe and well. Our thoughts go out to the people of Japan and everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.
Thank you.

£8 to unlock something finished and on the disc already. Tsk tsk.
Mortal Kombat has extra costumes as FREE unlockables, is actually have a story mode, its challenge mode isn’t just combos but actually fun things like the colour-swaping tag fight.
…oh, and all its characters you unlock but playing, you do not pay extra for them.
Tekken 6 is the same with alt costumes and storymode, included and all free.
Stop squeezing the fanbase Capcom and claiming it is needed for profit.

5 Euro per character?
You should’ve asked 180 Euro for the game then as well (36 characters x 5 Euro).
Leeches.

Agree with all the other comments regarding this DLC being priced too high.
However, @OP
> Our thoughts go out to the people of Japan and everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.
Totally agree with this sentiment, a real tragedy

Seem stupid to have to pay for new characters and why wasn’t Jill in the game at the start she is a main capcom character! ;s

It costs more for cinema ticket. It costs more for a bus into town. It costs more for a meal. The DLC characters will provide many more hours of entrainment for your money than any film if you’re serious about this game.
Just making a point.
Gonna go buy my Jill now, Shuma later. <3

Wasn’t too interested in Jill, was only gonna pick her up if they were £3 each, so I guess it’s just Shuma for me. It’ll be great to see both online though. Looking forward to any future DLC too (I have my hopes up for a certain SF blonde, but I won’t be surprised if she doesn’t show up).
Any scheduled dates for more Shadow Battle?

£4 for both characters in a bundle would be pushing it! never mind £4 each! Ah well i will be putting that money towards Mortal Kombat and wait for the inevitable “Super”or “Ultimate” edition.

I’ve just brought both of them just now. I know they should be playable from the start but I wanted to play these characters In the game.

Capcom are cheeky to have these characters already on the disc only for us pay for a 100kb key to unlock them…. What a scam!

Glad I didn’t buy into MvC 3. This pricing is just insane. Who was calling the shots for this one?
Guess some are buying and maybe enough to justify to stick to this formula and price point. Quiet sad.

£8, seriously? That’s borderline psychopathic. I mean I know you’re going to make money off those little spoilt rich kids who don’t know any better – who are pretty much the primary cash flow for DLC and the reason why DLC makes money despite the thousands of intelligent people online commenting on how disgusting the prices are – but do you really need to be that greedy. Really?!
Could we at least have a half-decent blog article trying to explain the extortionate pricing of DLC so we have something specific to target our hate at?

Capcom disgust me with their DLC.

While the price is a bit steep and we have to buy them individually they are both worth the money. Jill is fantastiic to play as and can quickly whoop some butt. Shuma is really good to, fast and a technical fighter that needs some practising.

Capcom’s DLC pricing is outrages not to mention what they choose to flog is barely even worth it.
A costume pack for 6 characters costs pretty much the same as 1 additional new character. Seriously?
Digital Content / DLC should have to adhere to a pricing structure that determines what items are worth.

It’s a poor game anyways but then so is Mortal Kombat. The best fighting game this generation is easily Super Street Fighter IV also by Capcom but was actually good value for what was an update seeing as it was half the price of the original release but included about 10 new characters and various other bits and pieces.

This game just isn’t good enough to warrant the costs of the DLC.
Super Street Fighter 4 is SO MUCH BETTER.
I’ll be trading in MvC3 as soon as the new MK comes out.

I like the fact that the DLC is $5 (£3) in the US but £4 here ($6.50). Not a massive difference but still annoying.
