It’s been a while since I have tried to rhyme in my title… and I’m still pretty bad at it, but no matter, it may not rhyme but it ain’t no lie. This week we have three, yes three 80′s bands to feature with Depeche Mode continuing our live series and Duran Duran and The Human League releasing new videos (which also gives us an excuse to feature their old ones!)
We also have new stuff from Jennifer Lopez, Dr Dre and Cage the Elephant, some über cool Ones To Watch in the shape of Maverick Sabre and Armistice and some Paddy’s Day festivity fodder. Read on and enjoy!

Hey deltaman-3
Good choice! They come from just near where I grew up… Not that that matters. I will ask the guys to look to see if we can get some on the service!

I’m curious, please can somebody clarify why some songs are censored and others aren’t? Let me preface this by saying I’m not *personally* offended, allow me to elaborate…
I was watching the Dr Dre playlist… some songs had cursing etc censored, others didn’t and included N*gg*r and F*gg*t uncensored, which I thought was a bit incongruous to censor swears but not racially and sexually sensitive vocabulary.
Then imagine my surprise when one of the live videos included a load of girls getting their baps out! I actually thought this was quite funny (most of them were mingers, funny that isn’t it, always the mingers flashing their bits… anyway that’s another discussion altogether)… then imagine my surprise… full frontal flaps and gash!
Now I’m not easily shocked and again wasn’t offended, however I did think to myself, wow there are plenty of kids with access to vidzone and that’s kinda wrong.
Would be interesting to have an official explanation of this.
Also I would add I am totally in favour of non-censorship of lyrics, I’m a grown up I would like to hear it how the artist intended, however there should be some level of control because of kids using the service.

Hi BigAitch
I would be happy to clarify.
Under-age users content will filtered to only show censored content. As you are obviously over the age of 18 and mature enough to handle our full content catalogue you will be able to view all content both censored and uncensored so you may some videos are censored but they should have their uncensored counterparts live as well if we have that video also.
We have a strict quality and rating process so all videos should be rated so they aren’t available to unsuitable users. Anything we deem to be too extreme we will take off the service for all users as this may cause offence to users over the age of 18. We strive to show completely appropriate content to all.
Having said this, I would like to check this “Full Frontal” video out to see if it needs to be reclassified. Could you email ps-problems@vidzone.tv with the artist and title of this video so we can take a look and make sure it is correctly classified.
Thanks for your enquiry, its nice to know that people are paying attention to our service and the content on it.
Ben

There is a slight spelling mistake on the echo banner (musikpreis, not musikpries)

Hi Ben, thanks for your prompt response, it was towards the very end of the Dr Dre playlist within the last few songs definitely, I’ll jump on later today and see if I can find it and email over the specifics.
Glad to hear there is an age gate and relatively transparent too. I suppose the only issue with this is the parents that don’t bother to (or who are naive to the fact that they can) set up their kids playstations themselves, but then there’s nowt anyone can do about that!

Hi Ben, quick question. I have noticed that the ‘banner’ on the bottom of the screen on Vidzone shows up a lot more then it used to. I swear it is now displayed 90% of the time, while it used to display only 10% of the time. Has this been changed recently and how do I turn this off/down?
cheers.

Hello, please add more Prodigy tracks because we finns are missing great tracks like Firestarter and Breathe.
Also it would be nice to get more Pendulum tracks. Especially their version of Prodigy’s Voodoo people.
Or are these tracks behind pesky legal affairs which is why you can’t show them?
Could you make sub category where you could separate “fast” paced songs from “slow” paced songs. It would be easier to spot the songs I like and also for other people too, giving more visibility for said bands because of their similiarities.
Also videogame music videos would be great also because it would definitely give Sony quite big advertisment area within their own services. You have the Playstation area there don’t you.
