This week’s highlight was the chance to go along to the BAFTAs where two of my favourite PS3 games, Heavy Rain and God of War III, were given the recognition they thoroughly deserve.
Following on from a conversation I had with some of you via twitter, I’ve decided I’m going to make a concerted push for my first Platinum trophy and was thinking of documenting that mission with diaries here on the blog. The first step is deciding on the game and I’m currently thinking Yakuza 4. Any other suggestions?

Yakuza 4 is a great, fun game, even more interesting than Yakuza 3 (was my favourite game of last year). Everyone should play it if they are into JRPGs

I just finished the first part and am loving it. Got a few funny looks in the office from people walking past and seeing me sorting out my hostess’ make-up!

Another good week, thanks for the recap.. but was this really posted on the 18/3..?
I’m looking forward to those upcoming diaries.
I suggest trying a more challenging game – it’s far more satisfying when you get the Platinum.
I thoroughly enjoyed gaining 100% in Red Dead Redemption and I recommend it.
Although, my first was Drake’s Fortune which is a little less time consuming & perhaps more interesting to document on the Blog.. maybe an Uncharted game?
Good luck though, James!

It was supposed to go live on Saturday but it didn’t, for some reason. I was trying to set it so that it didn’t knock the Japan appeal from the top spot and kind of messed it up.

How about a MK masterclass on the BLOG when it launches? (survival guide)

Hmm, I’m not so good at shooters. My style of game is your slower action adventures with lots of exploration and puzzles. If the original Resident Evil or MGS games had Trophies, I’d be going for those.

A few people have recommended that but I don’t want to go for one of the easiest as I’ll probably get slammed on here!

I only suggested Demon’s Souls as I want it to break James’s resolve as he goes for his first platinum trophy…or is that too mean
I think Yakuza 4 is of course the perfect game to use in your mission James!

My resolve is strong but I’m pretty honest with myself and I know I’m only good at certain genres… Yakuza 4 is a pretty good for for me, although a couple of the trophies worry me, such as eating everything on every menu in Kamurocho and possessing 10,000,000 Yen, although finding my first casino will no doubt make that easier, along with some cunning save tactics.

If it’s the same as Yakuza 3, you won’t have to be *every* food item. There was a special magazine you could buy which unlocked extra menu items when you had it equipped. Grab those and you’ve got your trophy..

(1st time commenting on the blog ! Yay !
)
What 10 said. Arkham Asylum is a very easy platinum. If you don’t want to go for that, I would suggest inFAMOUS, Call Of Duty: Black Ops and the Uncharted’s.
Also, James could you tell us when to expect some info on the inFAMOUS 2 Beta sign-ups ? I was thinking of becoming a Plus member just for the opportunity to enter…
