‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 23rd March 2011

Store update 230311

Dear Strong Bad,

How do you publish the Store with boxing gloves on your hands?

Sincerely,
Stupidhead, CA

I hope you’re all feeling cool and attractive today, since you’ll need all your awesomeness to help Strong Bad claim independence for Strong Badia! If you’ve never been to http://www.homestarrunner.com you should check it out after you’re done here – you have been missing out.

It’s a monster week as we see the launch of Dissidia 012 [duodecim] on Friday, but today we have Prologus for you, bundled with a free Aerith support character for use in the main game.

Old Josh Walker has asked me to mention that we now have a digital version of DC Universe available on the Store – so if you’ve been holding out on giving this one a try you can download it today – comes with a 30 day trial too.

ITCHY. TASTY. AWESOME. Finally, Resident Evil: Director’s Cut makes it to the EU PSN Store – this is easily the most requested PSone title you lot have ever asked for so please show it some love. Let’s hope Resident Evil 2 doesn’t take another three years to show up. (That was a joke, don’t panic).

Konami furnishes us with their side-scrolling blaster, Hard Corps: Uprising and a few nuggets of day one DLC to expand your character roster.

We’ve also got demos of the excellent Marvel Pinball and WWE AllStars for you guys to try before you buy.

Plenty of DLC too, including new costumes for LittleBigPlanet 2 and a bundle of three recently released NFS Hot Pursuit packs, so fill your collective boots.

I’m out guys, I’m gonna go buy the Cheat a trophy.

See you in the comments.

Dont tell me its delayed in Europe…

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:10 pm

Castlevania DLC was announed to have a March 30th release date. This happened about a week ago – go check your favourite search engine and they’ll confirm.

Finally resident evil is released…..shame we get ripped off over the price.

Zephon1 23 March, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   16

hey Ross
I have a question about Xenogears. Since i doubt we’ll ever see the pal version out, would it be possible to put the us version on the psn and name it ‘Xenogears US/NTSC’ or sth and add in the description that for proper work the game requires NTSC compatible tv. From what i read there shouldnt be any problems running it on a psp.
Thanks for your time.

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:14 pm

Thanks for your feedback. I should point out that there simple is no PAL version, it’s not a case of us not being able to get it.
As I said last week, we are not sitting idle on this issue – when I have news I will share it.

spikemad2005 23 March, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   17

Loving Resident Evil, when can we expect to see the next episode of BTTF

greyness123 23 March, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   18

LoneJustice87 23 March, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   19

Where’s the Castlevania DLC Ross? The American’s got it yesterday.

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:16 pm

You’ll be getting it on the 30th, when Konami announced you’d be getting it – you can find the announcement on CVG, or Eurogamer, or whichever news portal you usually use.

Primal_Link 23 March, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   20

@Ross:
So will the full game be released on PSN on friday?

untildeath 23 March, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   21

BURNINATING ALL THE PEOPLES… and their THATCH ROOF COTTAAAAAAAAGEEEEEES! THATCHROOFCOTTAGEEEEEEES!

sephiroth180 23 March, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   23

Azard300 23 March, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   24

Another poor update :/ atleast i got 3DS to look forward too..

Primal_Link 23 March, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   25

@20:
i meant Dissidia forgot to mention that, oops!

Carnivius_Prime 23 March, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   26

Hard Corps demo would have been nice. I’m not a fan of Contra but I would like a new 2 player platform shooter so am tempted.

Your PS1 game pricing and game availibility is still a joke and massive rip off. A lot of the games are cheaper on the US store plus with hugely more choice (plenty more games I actually want for a start), even less than half the price and all 3 Resi games have been on sale on US store recently to the value of under £2 each. I don’t even like Resi much but picked 2 and 3 up on there anyways since they were so cheap. I picked up 4 games last week off their store (Resi 3, Ridge Racer Type 4, Alundra and Spyro 3) for the equivalent of about £15.

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:28 pm

There is a Hard Corps demo – it’s a trial and unlock.
Capcom’s HQ in Japan apparently had the final say on how much they decided to charge for Resident Evil.

slayerking69 23 March, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   27

Resident evil finally, Thanks Ross now for castlevania:SOTN

Death-In-Pants 23 March, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   28

No Castlevania DLC as promised? Hmmmmm. Can’t say I wasn’t expecting it.

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:30 pm

You were ‘promised’ it on the 30th of March, by Konami themselves.

StevieX200 23 March, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   29

woohoo Dissidia Prologus at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

X_Weapon 23 March, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   30

Ross, Moon Diver, here, next week? What do you say?

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:31 pm

I say for information about Square-Enix products youshould head over to the Square-Enix community and ask Mr. Alexander! He’s better equipped to tell you – in fact they might have already announced it.

ShadowDoGGG 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   31

Why would anyone buy Resident evil for psone when there is a better version on the gamecube?

Gamecube probably sells for pennies on ebay as does RE so your probably going to spend about the same money as if you bought the hardware + game for a different system.

FinalFantasyDunk 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   32

Hey ross nice update. I was wondering i noticed on the Jp store they have dissidia duodecim ps3 avatars do you know if we will get them as well ?

squatch1983 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   33

When do we get Ridge Racer 4? Thought it was meant to be a March release?

Shou_Kobayashi 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   34

Woaahh… a lot of delays for Europe and mostly ONLY ON PSN. That is some exclusivity I don’t want to have ;). Yes, you might have to deliver on different stores, granted, but the Q&A of ZENONIA showed me that Q&A isn’t really the matter. The problem with the game got resovled, but the impact of my view is severely damaged.

GB, SWARM and C:LoS DLC, not to mention that US really got an all-time classic from S-E (again!), LoM. All of them are not going to be released this week on the europ. PSN…

Again, we really need an US import store for Ps1 Classics, because I contacted S-E and they didn’t rule out a release in Germany / Europe for US titles, well yet they have no plans for it.

Just FIY: S-E released an retro classic of the FF franchise on an other consoles’ service (FF III (old US counting) a.k.a. FF VI), despite it hadn’t been released in Germany. I hope that get’s sorted out (together with the Japanese Imports, which also our friends in the US are having).

And because I hadn’t seen any answer regarding this matter. Do we get a substitute for the SPRING FEVER SALE in Europe?

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:36 pm

    Hello Shou,

Yes, we’re having a Spring Sale, no it’s not yet.

The Reverie DLC is not delayed, it was always announced for release in Europe on the 30th. This was a decision taken by Konami, and not something we can just force. Swarm has also always been down for next week here – this is not just some hold up from us.

As far as a PSone import section, as I have said before I am well aware of what you guys are asking for and when I have news, I will share it.

umbrellabio 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   35

sorry ross forgot to ask, any chance of speaking to konami about getting silent hill psp games on the store? proud owner of psp go so would be nice to give them a go. also will we ever see silent hill psone classic on the store or is that forever gone? cheers

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:38 pm

The Silent Hill PSone title is not legally permitted for publish in the EU, so at present, no plans to re-release it.
I’d very much like to see Silent Hill PSP up in digital format but at the time Konami opted not to release it. I will aproach them about it again.

Jamiesti 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   36

As much as i’m pleased Resi Evil is finally up how can £7.99 be justified, seriously disappointed.

Bacon_Crispies 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   37

Hopefully Resident Evil 2 doesn’t take too long.
Any word on the list of most requested PS1 classics that was to be posted about a month ago, or did I miss it?

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:41 pm

You didn’t miss it, it’s still happening, I’m nearly ready to throw open the doors on PSone Part Two!

Roxas598 23 March, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   38

Ross have you asked TT about BTTF avatars???

also when can we expect part 2 of it?? it said at the end of part 1 that it was coming out in feb….that’s false advertising! >.>

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:41 pm

Yeah, in fact I spoke to Joel and Josh at TellTale on the phone and I said to them “I WANT TEEN GIRL SQUAD AVATARS.” So it’s all on them now. :)

I think their date thing was a hang-over from when they were going to be releasing earlier – it’ll be a short while before episode two.

Shou_Kobayashi 23 March, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   39

Since I had been limited by characters:

Some feedback for marketing: I don’t feel as a wanted customer at all anymore, SCEE. Yet I have to stick with you, because I can’t afford another console at the moment. However I really take this into consideration for the next console generation.

The only thing so far I’m really pleased with is that there is an active feedback on the blog. This one goes out especially for you Ross – you really try to tell us more than corporate regulations allow you to.

Chocobo115 23 March, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   40

I*ll wait till Strong Bad & Resident Evil go on sale, I’d prefer them to be at least half price.

anyways, any word on the capcom avatars? If I’m mistaken, and if there never were any capcom avatars coming to EU, please tell, so I can stop requesting thoose

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:42 pm

Yeah, all of them are coming, once they start they will be a pretty much ongoing torrent.

Death-In-Pants 23 March, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   41

Looking forward to a 3DS and I’m a noob? Didn’t realise you were 12.

xchris2008x 23 March, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   42

strongbad, need for speed hot pursuit bundle for me this week.

when will we get res 2+3? res 1 is to hard for me so wont be buying it

Shadow-Troopa 23 March, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   43

Where is ghostbusters sanctum of slime???

BloodMountain88 23 March, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   44

Ross, any chance Echochrome 2 could be put on sale at some point? It’s too expensive for what it is in my opinion, and was a little disappointed not to see it in the current sale, considering the theme.

Glad to see Hard Corps on the update though – will definitely be getting that.

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:43 pm

echochrome 2 will be in a future sale – it missed out on the Move sale by a very small margin.

untildeath 23 March, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   45

Can someone tell me if the Socom 4 beta is coming 2day or not ?

Dark771 23 March, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   46

where’s speed freaks on psone?

SlapnutzUK 23 March, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   47

Another week of nothing with a dash of over priced guff lovingly mashed together with a smattering of “it’s been out on the US store for years”.

I “was” going to get Ghostbusters this week but it looks like I’ll be buying another US PSN card of eBay instead! :)

raven_uzi 23 March, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   48

what’s with the price of downloadable games?
Dissidia is much cheaper (even the Legacy Edition) on UMD in most shops than on the PSStore :|

When can we expect other Resident Evil titles? What about Parasite Eve? (maybe as an NTSC import, or something) I want to play sooo bad…

epicgamer0 23 March, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   49

will the gta 4 avatars be available in new zealand this time, because its not in the store, if not why not and when will we get them, please answer because i asked you for 2 weeks and no response, but i asked you on the forum the next day so you should not just visit the forum for 1 day.

i really want these avatars, please help

    Ross McGrath 23 March, 2011 @ 2:46 pm

The decision not to release avatars in a particualr area is from Rockstar, not from us. The publisher chooses where to release their content – you should probably ask at the Rockstar community because they’ll be able to give you an answer.

spikkle 23 March, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   50

And everyone, im assuming Dissidia o12, the full game, wont be avaliable until Friday, when its out in the shops. Prologus is today however.
