It’s Wednesday and it’s the ‘Heads Up’date! Yes, it’s that time of the week again – time marches on and we bring you new and exciting downloadable joy nuggets to brighten your lives.
First of all – you asked for it, we listened – in the Latest section you’ll find a new tab called ‘New This Week’, which is exactly the way the old Latest section used to be. So if you want to see everything that’s dropped in the update, that’s where you should head first. Don’t say we never do anything for you.
We’ve got loads of gaming goodness for you this week, including the launch of The Fancy Pants Adventures, Battle: Los Angeles and Red Johnson’s Chronicles.
Fancy Pants Adventures tasks you and up to three friends (online or offline!) with traversing the line drawn world in search of your kidnapped sister – if you’ve played the Flash game of the same name you’ll know the score. This version turns the Fancy Pants formula up to 11 and comes highly recommended.
Battle: Los Angeles is the movie tie-in game for the recent alien invasion blockbuster – kick the aliens off your planet and protect the human race in this first person shooter.
Red Johnson’s Chronicles follows in the footsteps of BTTF and Sam and Max, you play as the titular Red Johnson as he attempts to solve the mystery of the murder surrounding Drownedman’s Bridge. You’ll have to question suspects and look for clues to find the truth! Plus member? Half-price for you! If that’s not an invitation then I don’t know what is.
Speaking of Plus discounts, ModNation Racers has a hefty day-one discount and hits the Store today for you to enjoy, sans disc.
And let’s not forget Patapon 3 – the latest outing for everyone’s favourite war-mongering eyeball creatures hits the Store today for all you PSP owners.
DLC? Well why not, eh? How about Reverie, the long awaited Lords of Shadow DLC, character packs for WWE AllStars, and the Revelation pack, vehicles based on the four horsemen, for MotorStorm: Apocalypse!
And more Capcom avatars – we’re aware of the issue with a couple of the Darkstalkers avatars actually being Ghouls and Ghosts avatars and some of them were linked to the wrong images – these are now fixed. Plus lots of new ones are live today!
That’s it from me, I’ll be in and out for comments. I’ve got to go and get some elaborate trousers.
EDIT:We’ve run into a small publishing issue with Red Johnson’s Chronicles and ModNation Racers, which means that they might not might launch with the main publish but we will get them there as soon as we can.

Ross, Rockstar avatars – New Zealand PSN Store??
You said you’d try and get the Rockstar avatars on the New Zealand store last week by Friday but that didn’t happen. are the Rockstar avatars on the New Zealand store this time or are we going to be waiting again. I appreciate your work Ross but this issue is really becoming increasingly frustrating, can you please let me know what is happening?
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:19 pm by Ross McGrath
They’ve resubmitted them with the new territories, including Australia and New Zealand. I’ll check on the status – this is definitely getting sorted but I’ve done as much as I can to speed the process along so far.

They may do in the future, it’ll be up to WB to make the call. Certainly they’re not on my radar as yet.

Any chance of us getting Dino Crisis 2?
Also how come US got a FFXIII track pack for Dissidia but we just get I and IX?
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:25 pm by Ross McGrath
I wil speak to Capcom about both Dino Crisis titles – I’m not sure about the content release schedules for Square-Enix, you will need to go and see if they’ve put up any information in their members area.

YES! Patapon 3! I’ve been looking forward to it for a long while!
Also, the US got the Pixeljunk Shooter soundtrack this week, d’you know if it’ll grace our shores soon?
Thanks Ross

Actually I asked this question internally yesterday when I saw that it had been released on the SCEA Store. I haven’t heard back yet but if I’m able to update you I will.

@ Ross:
Hiya there Ross! Still happy birthday (from last week)!
Sadly, I still have some unanswered quick questions for you:
1) I can’t access the PSP Store anymore. A message says “The connection with Playstation(R)Network timed out”. Why?
2) You said that re-releasing any Spyro title in Europe would be a nightmare. Has any progress been made or the situation is still the same?
3) About Dissidia DLC, it’s nice to see the first couple of contents has finally made it to Europe, however I’d like to know if the current announcement of a Kingdom Hearts costume for Sephiroth means that Europe will be, at last, included with both that and Cloud’s KH attire. What do you know about this? Could you ask Square?
Please remember that I’m more-than-willing to pay for everything I’ve mentioned, and as far as I know, that’s as much as the PSP Store allows me to donate for the “Japan Tsunami Appeal” (as I did last week). Yes, putting it this way is a bit of a “do-ut-des” (Latin for “I give if you give” for those curious) approach, but I hope this hasn’t come off as either insensitive or anything.
Hope you can answer these questions! Keep doing your best!

Hi Alex,
Okay so point one – I’m afraid I don’t know and a quick Google search wasn’t much help. As a workaround, (and I know it’s not the perfect solution) have you considered hooking up MediaGo on your computer and browsing the Store that way?
Point two – I can’t really talk about that at the moment but there was a little progress, nothing to get too excited about.
Point three – I don’t know much bout Square-Enix’s release plan for the Dissidia DLC, but as much info as they’re happy to share on this will be available from the Community member area on their site, so that’s your best bet.

EU price: 34.99€
LOL at reverse currency conversion.
By the way, is Red Johnson’s Chronicles only for Plus members or is it available for non-members too?
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:30 pm by Ross McGrath
Red Johnson is available to everyone, but it’s half price for Plus members.

No PS-One classics ? I’m shocked … NOT
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:51 pm by Ross McGrath
1990 called, they want their phrase back.
Seriously though, lots happening in PSone space, you’ll get another nice blog post from me in the near future to show how we’re delivering on our committment to PSone – I know thi was meant tohappen a lot sooner than it has but I swear to you all it’s still coming and it’ll be worth waiting for. Well, if you’re into PSone games anyway.

Just Sonic 2 this week for me, got FF4 yesterday (Special Edition with a bunch of goodies for £24).
Also, could we get the first 2 MotorStorm soundtracks up there too? Would be awesome.

Ross, please answer.
Where is Lego Star Wars III: Clone wars for PSP?
Is it still coming?
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:47 pm by Ross McGrath
Yes indeed it is, fear not.

Yay.:-)

Castlevania, too little too late, sold my copy last week as I’d given up hope. Next time, see if they can meet deadlines and not use excuses to delay DLC.

will we be getting Puzzle Agent soon Ross?
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:32 pm by Ross McGrath
Yes, it’s in my systems, it’ll be a short wait.

Just kidding.

I noticed that about Final Fantasy 4.
$30 on USA PSN, and £28 on UK PSN.
Also £30 in shops. So either USAs PSN is super cheap, or ours is ridiculously overpriced

Hi Ross,
Relaying a message for someone else:
Where is Season upgrade for the Blue Toad Murder Files on the Dutch store?
As for me, any chance you can request a price cut or sale on NIS America’s titles, particularly with Z.H.P? They have a few there so it could be good as a general publisher sale of titles (especially for PSP)
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:34 pm by Ross McGrath
I will certainly approach NIS about this, I think that’s a good call.
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:36 pm by Ross McGrath
And I’ve just asked about the Season upgrade, according to my info it should be there. Hopefully this will get fixed for the publish.
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 2:01 pm by Ross McGrath
Oh re: the Blue Toad Season Pass, your friend needs to download the first episode for the Season Pass to appear.

Glad to see we’re only paying what equals to 37 dollars (price in euros) for Patapon 3, now that the US is paying 20….
Many Europeans might earn more cash from their jobs than Americans do but our taxes are way higher too (40-60% in Denmark for example). Pushing up the price like crazy isn’t fair to anyone.

@ Ross:
Sorry to bother, but… did you notice my question?
I know it’s a long comment, so you already have my apologies.
Oh, and if you didn’t notice my questions last week, well… still happy birthday!
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:52 pm by Ross McGrath
Na it’s fine, sometimes I skip ahead to the short ones so I can keep up and then I go back and do the more detailed responses. Sorry if you thought I was ignoring you.

I was hoping the Dissidia DLC would be more interesting than just music.
But overall, great update. Some awesome deals in the sales!
33
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:37 pm by Bovrillor
Oh, and Squeenix are still taking the you-know-what with their pricing… Classics and new stuff alike. Then we get double-shanked by the currency conversion.
I know I’d buy a lot more S-E titles if they brought down the prices a bit.
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:44 pm by Ross McGrath
Thanks for the feedback – I’ll pass that on.

Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:39 pm by AlexPSN89
@ Bovrillor:
Last week we got DLC outfit for Warrior of Light, Zidane and Kuja.
This week it will be music.
If this is the trend, next week we’ll get more outfits and so on.
DLC is made of extra BGMs and outfits, so don’t expect new characters or new stages overall.

Hmm, just to many games coming out, I can’t keep up. Already got Killzone 3, Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2 (and Extraction) and R.U.SE that I bought and need to actually put some serious time into. While I need to fight of the temptation to buy Portal 2 (to play co-op with a Mac using friend over Steam!). So even though there are a lot of great offers on the store currently I think I have to raise the white flag for now

, awaiting next week already!

You’re really not interested in anything this week? I seriously urge you to at least try out Fancy Pants Adventures, it’s really very good.

Does Virtua Tennis 4 support Move?
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:57 pm by Ross McGrath
The full game does, I believe the demo does too.
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 2:30 pm by James Gallagher
Actually, that particular demo doesn’t. It’s because, in the full game, you can’t use Move on the World Tour but you can in exhibition matches. However, there is a Move and 3D demo coming soon. Here are the full details: http://bit.ly/gFhK1E

Hi Ross,
Quite a lot of Avatars this week. The price of FFIV Complete Collection is not funny so I hope Square will one day understand what is the difference between US Dollars and Euro.
Enjoy Easter Holidays !!

Why does he have a red johnson? Been playing with it too much? *baboomtish*
Devil May Cry avatars are good but any word if we’ll be getting the ‘classic’ Capcom avatars on the US store like Mega Man and the bloke from Ghouls and Ghosts?
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 1:58 pm by Ross McGrath
You get Mega Man this week too – and yes, I’ve been reliably informed all the avatars will make their way here eventually.

Someone needs to beat Square over the head with a bat that has “Exchange Rates” carved onto it… And I’m sure we have plenty of volunteers here on the blog…

Thanks Ross. Hopefully we get Ridge 4 soon, it was due last month.
Posted on 20 April, 2011 at 2:02 pm by Ross McGrath
Actually that’s not strictly true, Namco just jumped the gun on the date in the EU. That date was correct for the NTSC SCEA version though. It’s coming, I know we’ve been processing it, so it’ll get here.
