I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time. As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. Will keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.

I’ve been waiting since SOCOM3 on SOCOM4 coming out, completed single player, bored of playing co op alone, please let us know a timescale when we can get back online or people are just going to give up!

what’s the point of this when there is nothing new to say?
Are our personal details save?

Besides the all so important personal information/account intrusion questions these questions have not been answered yet as well.
Surely Sony must have some (customer relations & business dev.) people working on these issues as well?
How will this affect the current PSN-store offers?
Will they be prolonged for 1-week after PSN is working again?
How will it affect planned PSN-store and Plus-content depending on how long this “maintenance” is in effect?
Will us Plus-owners recieve additional time to our subscription for the time we have not been able to use our paid subscribtion?
Also, I am autologged in to the site on my laptop but if I try to log in on my PC I cannot. Maybe your web admins should try to fix this as well so that your customers have a more direct line of communication.
I really really want to take part of some of the latest offers (including the plus extension offer) but have not been able to do this yet. Will this and other offers be extended?

Satoshi Fukuoka, a spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo, spoke with PCWorld and claimed the company “has not yet determined if the personal information or credit card numbers of users have been compromised, but that Sony would promptly inform users if it found that was the case.”

You might just as well stop asking questions.
1: They’re not answering anyway (because they don’t know a lot yet)
2: They have heard your questions. A thousandfold of ‘em.

Dear Sony, do everyone a favor and please CLOSE COMMENTS on posts related to the PSN outage; all the moaning going on in here isn’t helping anyone!
Looking forward to a new and improved PSN, whenever that will be online; and until then: have a nice day!

:/ I saw the “Network is: On” thing and quickly rushed to hook up my PS3, turns out it’s still undergoing the maintenance.
Pretty annoying.
70
Posted on 25 April, 2011 at 9:03 pm by ieatpixels
and just after I posted that, the “Network is:” has changed to off again.
Just my luck eh. (I forgive the inconvenience)

Posted on 25 April, 2011 at 9:04 pm by ieatpixels
Wait no, it still says On now, I dunno what’s going on.
Oh well.

It’s been changing from on to off and back again everytime I refresh the page since Thursday. It means nothing. Ignore it.

What is it with people thinking we’ll get Cross Game Chat? Sony have enough on their plate trying to get this sorted as quickly as possible for you. They probably don’t have the time to implement Cross Game Chat now. That takes months, not a weekend.

1) Posting this comment apparently makes me a hermit according to some white-knight holier-than-thou high-horse-riding sun-outta-butt-shining around this blog. It also makes me a bad customer. Beware, people, we could all be hermits and bad customers by the end of this blog post….Apparently.
2) Why are people assuming that the PSN will be insta-improved when this things done with? It sounds like a pretty damn big breach from the way things are going, so I think they’d be more concerned with making things extra secure, as opposed to tossing in brand new, sparkly features and Cross Game Chat.
3) Wouldn’t it be better to post updates when something happens? Posting an update practically saying “THERE IS NOTHING TO REPORT” is a waste, don’t you think?
4) If I whine about people whining who are whining about people whining, does that mean we have enough w(h)ine to bust out the cheese?

noticed something interesting this evening – noticed that any games purchased from other stores from other regions no longer work – yes they load but do not respond to any button press on the controller
they do not even work on the account they were purchased from – so while the psn has been down they have decided to region lock the machine in the process?
if this in fact the case – one of the main reasons for buying the ps3 was the ability to play import games both arcade and disc – will be getting shut of it, if this in fact what has happened – close to a £1,000 quid down the drain – wow impressive it only took Sony around 5 months to make me say no more – it took xbox 4 years and as many 360 consoles before I left in total disgust

Sony. Do this. Ditch your PSN network and use purely Steam.
Simples!

@77 if thats the case then that would be more possible bad press that sony doesn’t need right now. Because of the service men at bases abroad with two different region accounts. Though in looking at your post i decided to fire up my import copy of demon souls and that works (apart from it wanting me to log in) just fine

Posted on 26 April, 2011 at 12:38 am by Izorpo
@80
for me it’s arcade psn games and ps1 games – the only game that I can get to work is a mini I bought on the US store – I buy most of psn games from the US store as my mum lives in the states and is always sending me psn$ cards – going to be very upset to find the $200 worth of psn cards she sent for my birthday I will not be able to use.
haven’t checked my Afrika disc – believe thats the only import disc I have at the moment but have several on pre-order
if you have any games bought from US or Japan psn – test them – as I mentioned they will load but aren’t responsive at all (except for the one mini) – for me that’s around 20 or so games
valid point about servicemen – the only other thing I can think of is because the network is down whatever information is sent from that account isn’t able to send information and considering the ps3 is always connected even when it isn’t connected (why we can still get game updates, home updates etc) but if they have decided to region lock the psn bought material – that also means any imported games the end of buying dlc for them

Posted on 26 April, 2011 at 12:50 am by lardteamaker
@81 myself personally i don’t myself. However i may know someone who has so i can certainly find out and let you know.
yeah it’d make sense if it’s connected in that way. hopefully once psn is sorted they’ll work though the ps1 games not working that way is a head scratcher purely because with it being down there shouldbe no difference. I hope they don’t region lock it, not for me but more for others who love imports

*SIGH* I’m really sorry to say this but my xbox 360, which atm acts as a stand to sit my ps3 on, is getting switched ON, for the very first time in god knows how long… No, I do not have a platinum membership for xbox live, and I only have one friend therein, in oppose to the 50odd I have/had on psn, but anyone on my psn list who is going onto xbox, please add me…don’t laugh my usertag is proscyon. SONY this is an unacceptable time your service has been down. You RUN this type of industry, yet after nearly a week you do not have provisions in place to get your systems up & running? SHAME ON YOU. It has been too long…Now if I can only find that xbox cord…

The psn light on and off thing reminds me of astromoners, ancient & modern, whom see mysterious lights come & go when they look thru their telescopes at Mars or at other celestial bodies… “is anyone there????”. Of course we now know the answer at least to the Mars enigma. We are definately NOT alone. Not sure about psn tho…) peace…

We need more information.
Have personal details, passwords and log history wor credit card info been breached and obtained?
Were they possibly breached or obtained?
Leaving us in the dark is bad PR.

When James said + members were getting ‘Pain’ this month for free, I must admit this wasn’t what I was expecting!!!
96
Posted on 26 April, 2011 at 10:01 am by Xenostar
@JAMES
Thanks for the constant updates James even if there is no new news its better than just feeling left in the cold.
Although im sure your not personally involved in getting the servers back online, could you do some investigation into other areas, like compensation for people paying subs to Qriocity and to a lesser extent love film. Plus members i think are fine as long as you give people the opportunity to download this months stuff when PSN does come back.
Also what if anything will be happening with the store update i would of thought this weeks content will have been completely postponed now as a complete rebuild sounds like you wouldn’t have the systems in place to get stuff ready even if PSN was back up on time.
Still all this down time is giving me plenty of time to finish the never ending game that seems to be dragon age origins ultimate edition.

maybe someone from Sony accidentally installed their own rootkit on their own servers?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_BMG_copy_protection_rootkit_scandal
the irony is that this affects honest people who didn’t hack their PS3s and want access to PSN, whereas people who did root their PS3s and lost PSN don’t care.

i’m sure sony’s preparing big surprise and psn is down because of adding vidzone, comics and qriocity to all regions
