SCEE’s Identity Theft Protection Offering

Both Kazuo Hirai and Sir Howard Stringer have stated that we will be offering identity theft protection for those affected by the malicious attack on PlayStation Network and many of you may have seen the details of the service available in North America.

As I have explained previously, creating a similar offering for the many countries within the SCEE region is a very complicated process. Each country has a different way of handling identity theft; some offer relatively sophisticated services whilst others are much more modest.

We are currently in the process of identifying how we manage this situation and once the programme is ready to launch, we will provide details of exactly which services are available in each country and explain how to sign up. We hope to do this early next week.

Also, look out for more information on the rest of our Welcome Back programme, including which free content you will be eligible for. We will be offering PSN users the opportunity to select two PS3 games from a list of five, as well as offering PSP users the opportunity to choose two games from a list of four. We will let you know exactly what games are available very soon.

Please be assured that we are continuing to work around the clock to have some PlayStation Network and Qriocity services restored and will provide you with specific details shortly.

Did you enjoy this?

This is a complete joke we get 30 days free PSN+ and the choice of 2 games out of a list of 5. come on sony our details got stolen due to your complete arrogance and lack of good/decent security in place and you throw this out to us as compensation? What if on that list someone has the games already? what then they only get the 30 days PSN+ while someone else who doesn’t have them games gets them and the PSN+.

How about you give everyone the chance to pick 2 games including FULL DLC’s for the games out of all the games in the PSN Store and also the 30 days free PSN+ this is more fair as a small part of compensation that what you are currently offering.

So I have had PSN for 2 maybe 3 years now i have never been on PSN+ so does that mean i am not entitled to these free games because i wasnt signed up for PSN+ before this kafuffle, but i have been on PSN for the whole time i have had the PS3

That is good news. Having had someone try to take out a mobile phone contract with my details this week, it is something I most certainly will be signing up for.

How and when will sony be letting gamers know when they will receive their free pass and games etc……
For a multi-billion pound company,i think that you have treated us pretty shabbily, considering what we spend with you.Come on sony get it sorted or i will get a 360 xbox……
