Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Mubi and Vidzone, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Visit eu.playstation.com/ps3psn for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Wednesday publishes were missed and rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar right where we left off, to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

@494: If Sony really cared about its customers, it would’ve done some basic things, like encrypt user passwords, update the software on their servers, do some penetration testing … you know … the stuff that even some home users do.

I have a question regarding the playstation store.
Do i lose all my DLC and other things i’ve bought and downloaded before the hackattack or are they still there and can i use them.

“Everything will stay the way it was”. Also, they couldn’t remove the stuff you downloaded as that would be illegal as you paid for the product.

I heard that Playstation 3 users in Europe are getting three free PS3 games out of a list, due to the outage of PSN/Qriocity. Is this true?

It should be! Those games are old and so cheap …
But they prefer to waste money on worthless protections.
At least my PS3 is safe from penguin (Linux) invasion

Can anyone use the Redeem Codes section within the PSN? I have the new Mortal Kombat games and I’m still getting the ‘maintenance’ message when trying to enter my codes. Any advice? Thanks

First off, im so glad to finally be back on the psn, the attack could not of been at a worse time for me, i am a regualr MGSO player and was off for a month with my internet and the day i got it back on the PSN was attacked
oh well enough off topic rant, it is a shame the store is still not active, I would love to get back to buying content and re-downloading content i had from the store since my HDD upgrade, can anyone please give a mystical shot in the dark and give a ETA on the switch on of the store again?? I of many would be very thankfull of this as i would stop getting nagged about “why cant we get more songs for singstar?” (the other halfs game not mine) I would love some NEW GH Songs

hi, i purchased my ps3 console the day psn went down, without knowning it had gone down, of course. Therefore, am i entitled to a welcome back package as well, seeing as i have missed out as much as members who have been without it for the same period of time?

Sorry by the doble post, but there’s something that it’s really bothering me!! You guys from SONY screwed up big time! Not us the users! This one is on you!! So since the confidence we had in you is kindda in the floor right now, i think the that least! The very least you could do! Is to answer all the damn posts!! Even if you have to say the same thing a million times!! And be thanful that only a few of us decided to ask anything!! Because you guys didn’t fail only to the 20 guys that are posting here!! You failed to the 70.000 or so that bought your console!! So be a little more humble! And start giving decent answers! When we bought something from you we don’t pay “very soon” or “in a few days”, so I asking the same cortesy from you.

For the love of god , would you people lay off Sony , its as if everyone thinks they are responsible for the hacker breaching there system, well they aren’t so why don’t you all blame the people that breached there system.You all should be thankful they don’t charge access to the PSN Network like Microsoft does , it is an unfortunate situation that everyone has been put in , but do you guys not think for a second that Sony is actually doing the best for there customers by upgrading the system to make it as secure as possible, Boo Hoo to those people that bought there system one day after the system went down , my heart sincerely bleeds for you guys, the people like myself that had the credit card details on the system , they are who i feel sorry for as the breach for us could potentially be costly, but for god sake lay off Sony, they will get all systems runnign when they feel comfortable with the security upgrades etc etc etc.
