Today we’re proud to reveal the Resistance 3 box art that you can hold in your hands when the game hits store shelves in September. You should recognize right away that this graphic version of the Chimeran Skull with the New York skyline depicted as its teeth, as well as the stylized version of the Resistance franchise logo, isn’t your typical “rendered hero” box art. To create this new look, we partnered with Olly Moss, a talented British artist, to create a bold vision of the Resistance 3 boxart for both the North American and European territories.
The Resistance team worked closely with Olly to share our vision for the Chimera-occupied 1957, and Joesph Capelli’s journey across the destroyed USA to his destination, New York City. You’ll see this in the alternate version of the art below, which shows Capelli walking towards the NYC skyline.
We wanted Olly’s work to reflect that in Resistance 3, YOU are the Resistance. Resistance 3 isn’t a military shooter, as the United States Army and SRPA have been destroyed. Instead, R3 is about the remnants of humanity finding any way possible to survive in a brutal world.
This work coincides with Olly’s first art show in Hollywood at the Gallery 1988 (which runs until May 20th, if you’re in the LA-area). We’re excited about the new look of the box art and expect to see additional Resistance 3 art by Olly throughout the campaign. You can find out more info about Olly, and see more of his fantastic art, by checking out www.ollymoss.com.
You may have also heard that we will be bringing exclusive early access to a nearly half-hour single-player demo straight to your PS3 on June 14th! The demo will be included on specially-marked Blu-ray Disc copies of the Sony Pictures sci-fi action thriller Battle: Los Angeles (which you may recall from the now memorable Resistance 3 billboard spotted on a Sony film set). The demo level is the entire boat ride sequence of the game, as Joseph Capelli and Dr. Malikov discover a flooded town, infested with Chimera. We hope when you play it, you’ll enjoy the small taste of the atmosphere, environmental story-telling and exciting action sequences you’ll see in the final version of Resistance 3 in September.
As we lead up to E3 and the game’s launch, there’s still more news to come, so keep it tuned to eu.playstation.com, our twitter page, Facebook and sign up to Join the Resistance for all the latest updates on Resistance 3.

That is stunning box art.
Simple, vibrant and compelling.
It doesn’t really make a difference in the end, but still…
Nice box!

Hmmm….disappointed to be honest, I don’t like the look of the box art it looks quite plain and really not what I was expecting from Resistance 3

I love this boxart, nice and simple. Better than a lot of the busy looking boxes you see for a lot of other games.

OKey the game will be awesome but the box art…. Don’t look that great TBH and the side of the box is just white which just looks boring. In the store you often just see the side of the box and this does not look appeling.

I LOVE that box art, how about getting more of your studios to do this kind of thing? artwork on the box instead of some SUPER-CLOSE-UP of the main characters ingame model?
It’s called Box-ART for a reason

Eurogamer has seen video evidence that verifies reports that Sony’s PlayStation Network password reset system suffers from an exploit that allows attackers to change your password using only your PSN account email and your date of birth – information compromised in the PSN hack of 20th April.
Sony today made PSN sign-in unavailable for a number of its websites, including PlayStation.com and the PlayStation forums. All PlayStation game titles are also unavailable.
Crucially, the website users are directed to by password reset emails is now down.
“Unfortunately this also means that those who are still trying to change their password via Playstation.com or Qriocity.com will be unable to do so for the time being,” Sony said. “This is due to essential maintenance and at present it is unclear how long this will take.
“In the meantime you will still be able to sign into PSN via your PlayStation 3 and PSP devices to connect to game services and view Trophy/Friends information.”
Sony later tweeted: “Clarification: this maintenance doesn’t affect PSN on consoles, only the website you click through to from the password change email.”

The exploit was first revealed on Nyleveia.com.
“I would suggest that you secure your accounts now by creating a completely new email that you will not use ANYWHERE ELSE, and switching your PSN account to use this new email,” recommends the site.
“You risk having your account stolen, when this hack becomes more public, if you do not make sure that your PSN account’s email is one that cannot be affiliated with or otherwise traced to you.”
NeoGAF users have also corroborated the claim.
Nyleveia claims to have contacted Sony about the exploit. “The system went down approximately 15 minutes after I received a response from SCEE on the matter.”
Sony has taken the page in question down, and with any luck is fixing the exploit.
Eurogamer has contacted Sony for comment.

Oh wow, a comment on the US blog about this
“Use Capelli walking towards the NYC skyline for the box art. The box art without it is just bland and boring looking.”
Exactly what i was saying NOT to do, how do people find this appealing?

I really prefer the alternate art, however the first one is also gorgeous.
…However, I can’t see any newcomers to the PS3 world, looking at that and thinking “This looks like a AAA Exclsuive filled with a compelling story and brilliant shooting segments”

Love the box art, it’s great to see a game that actually has a different cover and gives itself a unique and brilliant look. Compare this to the inevitable Gears of War 3 cover that will be taken up with Marcus Fenix’s ugly mug, I know which of the two looks the more appealing game to me.

.. I’m sorry I see a lot praises for the box art, but to me it’s below the Resistance standard. It misses something it’s empty.

I really like it actually, its different to the standard war torn scene that most shooters go for.
Well done Insomniac!
