‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 15th June 2011

magic_storeupdate

Hey everyone – it’s update time and can you believe it, I’m actually HERE this week, in the office, so I’ve got no excuses and you’ll be getting some comments out of me this week.

We’ve got plenty of goodies for you this week and leading the way is Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, the sequel to the fiendishly addictive Duels of the Planeswalkers, which we’ve just recently made available to you all as part of your subscription through PlayStation Plus and the Welcome Back program. If you’re a full, paying Plus subscriber, you can pick this new edition up, complete with brand new decks and game modes at 20% off the very reasonable asking price of €8.99 – but if you’re a 30 day Welcome Back Plus subscriber, don’t fret – we do have some more free and discounted content for you guys coming 22nd June.

Other notable mentions this week are the third instalment of Back to the Future, Midnight Club LA from the mighty Rockstar, and PSP offerings from THQ and Disney. Namco Bandai bless us with a new PSone Classic in the form of Tekken, two previously Plus exclusive minis and more DLC than you can shake a rather large stick at.

Don’t forget you can still get the Rockstar Pass, which nets you all the LA Noire DLC at a reduced price for a limited time, and we’ve got a small sale on Rock Band content for this week only.

And in case you missed the notification last week, Beyond Good and Evil is now at the correct price, anyone who purchased at the incorrect price should contact our Customer Services team and the difference will be refunded to your wallet.

That’s all for now, see you all in the comments.

Midnight Club Los Angeles: Complete Edition ($19.99) and we still got to pay more [Removed]

funkpower 15 June, 2011 @ 1:02 pm   2

Why is the Nissan Juke being forced down my throat!? I came here for PS news not to buy a car!? Come on Sony, make me happy, i’m tired of being unhappy!

The US store got a good sale last week including lots of Call of Duty DLC and AC:Brotherhood DLC (which i’m after). Will we not be getting these offers?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 1:07 pm

We chat to the US Store team a lot and sometimes we align on offers, but generally our promotional calendars differ.
That said, we’ve got some big sales coming in SCEE over the next three months, so keep an eye out.

Lame update this week.

TheSidious 15 June, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   5

And again no MK Klassic Skins Pack #1? :(

Lame upate this week.

link1983 15 June, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   7

Thank god for BTTF part 3. I hope 4 is coming next week. I only say this because the US has 3 & 4 already.

Oh great we get 30 days of plus for free but none of the benefits! Nice one!

Osahi_be 15 June, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   9

Yey! BTTF3! I guess 4 is due soon too as 3 should’ve come out during the PSN downtime?

Anyway, just another question: I bought BG&E HD a bit overpriced. Will the refund be going to my wallet or will it be settled with my credit card company (as I paid with credit card)? Just to know before I add extra funds to my wallet…

ImperatorA3 15 June, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   10

What about those 10 extra days for PS+ members, I don’t see them added to my subscription?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm

They will be added, I’m not sure of the timings on when but I know they’re working on it.

Hawkboi 15 June, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   11

No Alice?

STUPID_DAD 15 June, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   12

Wheres the protection plan news……come on

Domino2097 15 June, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   13

Will we be getting the Dissidia Avatars that America cause my PSN avatar is lacking in Tifa?

Also where would we contact the Customer Services team any link?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm

I will ask Square about the Dissidia avatars for you, I can check to see if they’re on their way and if not I will go and make a fuss. :)

After “Welcome Back” every normal update looks poor…

galaick 15 June, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   15

Ofcourse no free PS+ games, since literally EVERYONE has PS+… That’s why I’m waiting…

MaxRstar 15 June, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   16

Where’s American McGee’s Alice O_o

Andrefpvs 15 June, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   17

Ross, is there any way we can download our PSP Welcome Back games via the PS3 Store?

I can’t currently access the net on my PSP due to no Wi-Fi and I fear that I might miss on those games because of it (Media Go also doesn’t work for some reason). That doesn’t sound very fair to me, especially if you consider that North Americans can download their PSP games via PS3. Talk about region segregation.

Thank you.

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:18 pm

    Hi,

I’m sorry but the decision was taken in SCEE territories to only offer the PSP Welcome Back titles via the PSP Store and Media Go. Are you able to get yourself out to a public Wi-Fi hotspot?
The Welcome Back titles will be available until 3rd July so you have some time.

ShogunDarius 15 June, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   18

are you going to fix the dynasty warriors 7 dlc pricing? you fixed beyond good and evil in a day, this has been around 2 weeks, thats either negligence or your priorities are mixed up.

ChrisandJulie 15 June, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   19

So delighted to see Lego Pirates of the Caribbean on the PSN store…THANKYOU.

Ross please answer me. Are we still getting Lego Star Wars III – Clone wars PSP on the PSN store. You told me in March that it was coming…is this still the case and will we get it soon?

Thankyou.

antikewl 15 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   20

Will Plus members be getting the discount on Braid this week?

ilikethispart 15 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   21

Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, awesome. Can’t wait to get it. The first one really was addictive as hell, and this one seems even better.

I don’t get why “welcome back” people don’t get the discount, but whatever, it’s not like a 2€ difference is exactly a big deal.

What’s up with the BG&E2 refunds?

identity25 15 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   23

4 updates and still no sign of psp goodness. Two questions

Why are there no sale items (including psp), we havent had any new ones since the store was up.

Can I get the welcome back playstation plus on a psp (via mediago) as while its mostly useless would still offer something!

Jimmirock 15 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   24

Back to normal, I miss the waterfall of new games and offers that we had over the past few weeks!

AcidCrashX 15 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   25

Afternoon Duder, 2 questions if you dont mind :)

just got confirmation from Shopto that my copy of Alice will arrive tomorrow, do you know if the Online Pass will be available for me to activate straight away or do I have to wait til Friday before I can put that in?

secondly, any plans to have a Söldner-X & Söldner-X 2 game bundle rather than just the OST’s?

chars mate, hope you enjoyed your time overseas and have a great week :)

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:12 pm

    Howdy AC,

I would hav to check the voucher redemption batch, but if I was a beting man I would say that the voucher probably won’t activate until Friday. By all means try it tomorrow though, it can’t do any harm.

I will have a look into the possibility of a Soldner bundle too.

Nice, Jon Burgerman theme, i probably need to buy that.

Does the Ape Escape demo work with a normal controller or do you need Move?

Might have to get one soon!

Also, Suikoden PSone classic in Europe, please please please please please?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:17 pm

The Ape Escape demo is Move only, so you will need a Move controller to play.
Regarding Suikoden, I did speak to Konami about this fairly recently so we’ll see if they can be persuaded.

Azard300 15 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   28

Why does Infamous 2 on PS Store have a £49.99 price tag?!

& Is there any new Street Fighter avatars coming? eg- Oni,Evil Ryu,Yun & Yang?

Thanks.

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:21 pm

inFamous 2 on the Store is priced in line with retail RRP – some retailers will sell the game more cheaply than this and to be honest, if you can find the game at a better price I’d urge you to buy it. :)

I’ll ask Capcom about the SF avatars.

mrfight67 15 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   29

Fairly good update, but shame Midnight Club is $19.99 in america but £19.99 here. I love buying digital now but I saw this complete edition in a shop the other day for a tenner. Guess ill have to wait for a price drop or offer…

Also are there any mid month plus treats today?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:22 pm

The only extra this week is DOtPW 2012 – but we’re in a 5 week month so I expect you’ll see some treats next week. :)

claTorino 15 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   30

“20% discount for Plus subscribers(excludes Welcome Back Plus members)” ???

so the free 1 month playstation plus included in the welcome back program is actually some kind of Playstation plus lite?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:42 pm

I can understand your confusion but we have been completely transparent about that from the start.

Welcome Back Plus subcribers in SCEE will receive a specific set of content, which was listed on the portal and communicated by Mr. Thorpe on the blog. This is the content that the Welcome Back Plus users will recieve regardless of when the Plus 30-day membership is redeemed, (ie; even if you redeem the 30-day membership on July 1st, you’ll still receive the specific Welcome Back Plus content).

That said, it’s hardly fair to call it Plus-lite – you’ve got yourself a great selection of high quality content with double the normal number of full PSN titles, one of which, the awesome Burnout Paradise, was a full Blu-Ray release as well!

We will in fact be adding to this content with some more goodies that will be available to the Welcome Back Plus subscribers as well as regular Plus subscribers and James Thorpe will be posting on that in his mid-month update.

vicheous 15 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   31

Magic, Dirt 3 DLC and OFP:RR DLC for me thanks ;-)

halljames 15 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   32

LEGO Pirates, brilliant, but I was hopeing for LEGO Star Wars Clone Wars. According to the reviews, LEGO Pirates is a bit short. Decent price for it though, so I probably will.

Is LEGO Star Wars III coming on the PSP?

JonnyPauz 15 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   33

can u get valve to give us a portal demo

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:45 pm

Sadly no, but if you’re waiting to see if it’s worth buying, it definitely is.

beardyweirdy 15 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   34

still no persona 3

jelle2719 15 June, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   35

ow thats just great, you gonna upload any ps plus benefits too or are we just gettin’ that 30 days for the yellow cross on our name?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 2:57 pm

You mean aside from Burnout Paradise, Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers, Streets of Rage 2, James Pond 2: Codename Robocod, BABEL: The King of the Blocks, The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character all at no cost; up to 50% off six different games, including two brand new ones; two free themes; five free avatars; automatic patching; online game saves and the promise of more free and discounted stuff later in the month?

get2sammyb 15 June, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   36

Thanks for the update Ross. Just curious if you’ve got any details on SEGA Rally Online Arcade?

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 3:00 pm

I do, I think SEGA will be announcing the SCEE release date shortly so I won’t tread on their toes.

CozMick 15 June, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   37

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 3:15 pm

    1. All going well, it should be next week.
    2. Awesome that you’re thinking about becoming a subscriber! Between you and me, you’d be better off waiting until your 30 days is up – stick around and you’ll see why. ;)
    3. That’s an interesting one actually – I will talk to LucasArts about a possible price reduction.

    Thanks for posting!

lardteamaker 15 June, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   40

hi there Ross. A question if you can answer…….

Any idea when the ‘from the ashes’ DLC for Killzone 3 willbe heading our way?

cheers

    Ross McGrath 15 June, 2011 @ 3:17 pm

Keep your eye on the Blog, there’ll be an announcement soon.

airules 15 June, 2011 @ 1:14 pm   41

Been waiting patiently since Christmas for a EU release of persona 3 portable, finally was announced for 21st April, then psn outage and no word since!
Are we ever going to see it on the PSN store? I’m keeping my fingers crossed but as the weeks race by my optimism is sinking!

Crap avatars. Oh please, can you give something better than that?

CodeMonkey_UK 15 June, 2011 @ 1:15 pm   44

Pretty poor update.

STUPID_DAD 15 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm   45

Glad to see backto the future coming for the next two weeks but i thought alice was also out today

I’d like to ask if you are going to release the Megaman Legends 2, Street Fighter 3 – 3rd Strike, Viewtiful Joe and Rival Schools avatars in Europe?

ironmonkey88 15 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm   47

Slightly disappointed not to have the mortal kombat klassic skins DLC, do you know when these wil be released for us?

Also I read the the States are getting the new charcater DLC on the 21st of June will we also be getting it that week?

many thanks :)

AllytheBruce 15 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm   48

presumably Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 is a standalone game and the 2 versions don’t combine?

amazingape 15 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm   49

Hi Ross, any info on when Sega Rally Arcade Online will be hitting PSN?

Azard300 15 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm   50

@STUPID_DAD I’ve been waiting for the Playstation 3 protection plan for months… I really hope it comes out soon. I have a 60GB PS3 D;
