As expected, E3 2011 was crazy fun and a gamer’s dream come true. Every year E3 gets bigger and badder but this year’s show was special for us: we finally got to unveil our multiplayer Capture the Flag mode for Starhawk! So far, the feedback has been great. Starhawk was nominated for a bunch of E3 awards, including Best Shooter, Best Multiplayer and Best PS3 Game from G4TV.
During E3, the PlayStation.Blog team streamed live demos for a host of PlayStation games, including this 20 minute-long Starhawk tour that really shows off one of our single-player missions. Check it out above!
Here are a some impressions from members of the press that played Starhawk at E3:
“What stuck out was the combat from the air, the power of the Hawks, and the surprisingly convenient ability to jump seats in a moving vehicle.”
–IGN
“We’re definitely excited to see more of this game, including its extensive single-player campaign.”
–GameSpot
“Starhawk is full of the same brand of intense aerial dogfights and on-foot combat, takes the war to the stars, further complicating matters with an injection of real-time strategy.”
–Kotaku
“[PlayStation] could have a new king of multiplayer on its hands.”
–GamesRadar
“Even in its early state, Starhawk shines with polish….the game’s not due for another year, but it already sported a rock-solid framerate and some of the best visuals for a multiplayer game on the platform.”
–ShackNews
We definitely appreciate E3 awards…but honestly, what meant the most to us was the feedback and love we got on the floor from fans just like you. We were thrilled that players walked away from the kiosks genuinely liking the game — that’s what counts to us. We even had a huge Warhawk fan fly all the way from Brazil just to play Starhawk at E3…and she played for all three days! And we couldn’t forget our Canadian friends that stopped by the booth to say hi. It’s always a thrill for us to meet loyal Warheads….especially when they seem so normal! Go figure.
At this point, we know we have a long way to go and it’s our job to bring you a game that lives up to your expectations. Our challenge now is to get the game into as many hands as possible. We’ll be at Comic-Con in San Diego July 21-24 so please come on by and check out our game! We’re going to tell you more about our solo campaign and the Starhawk universe during the show, so stay tuned.

I like what I’ve seen so far, but need to see the battles in space…missing COLONY WARS and Space Operas in general.
By the way, a new COLONY WARS with an epic Single Player campaign has to be made sooner or later. Don’t make a new FPS give us back our beloved genre ;(

this jobe guy sure loves the sound of his voice as ive seen no others giving interviews did he make ALL the game himself lol??? only JK anyway any singleplayer footage as im not a big mp kinda guy bought the first 1 and thought it was a little unbalanced between vechicles and the actual warhawk plane was unstopable to anything other than annother warhawk which was insane to shoot down hoping this 1 is a bit better balanced but i really want to know a bit more about singleplayer thanks

Only disappointing thing about this so far was the CG trailer (I hate them) All the gameplay so far has been excellent.
Not sure if it’s been announced yet,but is this likely to be Q2 2012?

Dylan Jobe just took over David Jaffes spot as one of my most favorite developers in the gaming industry. The game looks awesome and the Lightbox team really know what gamers want. Honestly can’t wait for this game

Looks really good! I bought Warhawk but didn’t play it for very long, got fed up of it for some reason. But this seems to have a LOT more variation to keep you entertained.

@prime1982 “but will this see a port on vita”
In the vid he responded to a twitter question by saying “This doesn’t run on Vita”
We’d need to find out who owns the IP (Sony normally get IP rights in these situations) I’m not sure if lightbox have a big enough team to do both versions at the game. And it it was going to happen,I’d rather it stay in house and get done after Starhawk is out and any critical patches and DLC are done.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a cheap download port of Warhawk on PSV.But then I get into the issues with 3G being slow for that type of online experience.Your more likely to play it at home via Wifi, but if your at home why not play on PS3,So i’m not sure how well that experience would work on a portable.

I really wanted to see this video, but the Muppet ‘hosting’ managed to do my head in within 60s, so I clicked STOP.I’ll find the footage somewhere else. WarHawk rocks, so StarHawk is a definite day one buy.

In Warhawk you could switch to the knife and it’d take you into a form of stealth mode where it takes you off the radar. Will Starhawk have any similar sort of stealth features since the knife is now not selectable?
I like me some stealth

Nice to hear they are putting EVERYTHING into the game rather than hiding it within the game and releasing as DLC later.
the second DLC on Warhawk was fanastic (great map and great additional vehicle)
Have high hopes for this game.
