You are in for a treat: starting today for a limited time, eligible PlayStation 3 owners* can try out a free 180-day Basic subscription of Music Unlimited for free!
That means that you have 6 months to check out the service and listen to 7 million tracks before you decide to sign up for a full subscription.
The Basic service offers an ad-free internet radio style experience with access to dozens of music channels by genre, rap, rock, etc., era, 2000s, 1990s, etc. and mood for example energetic, mellow, morning and many more.
You can personalize the channels by rating played songs as “like” or “dislike” so the music channels become more tailored to your musical preferences.
By using the MusicSync feature (this can only be used via the Q Music Unlimited PC interface) you do not have to go through the lengthy process of uploading your songs to the cloud which you have to do on other services.
To access the 180 day Basic Service free trial, log on to your PlayStation 3 system and click on the Music Unlimited service below the Music icon. Once the application has downloaded, follow the sign up instructions.
Don’t forget, you can now enjoy Q Music Unlimited on the go thru Sony Ericsson’s Android-based mobile devices (e.g. Experia Arc and Experia PLAY) as well as on Android-based third party devices.
Just visit the Android Marketplace to download the app and access your music anytime, anywhere.
Hope you enjoy!
180 day free trial available if:
- You are 18 or over
- You own a PlayStation 3 system
- You do not currently hold or have not previously held a Music Unlimited subscription to the premium or basic plan
- You are in a supported country/region (UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand)

Things can’t be looking too amazing for this service if in the short space of time Sony are giving away this 6 months not to mention the 1 month when the service was launched a few months ago.
Sony take this advice from one of your loyal customers: this service is too much money every month. There’s loads of services just like this one that’s FREE!
Never the less…. Thanx for 6 months though.

Looks great
A quick question though. I listen to most of my music on iOS devices. Do you know if there are any plans to bring Music Unlimited to iOS devices? If it did, i would probably continue to purchase this subscription after my trial has ended.
Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 3:23 pm by Joey Payne
There are plans to release for iOS devices but we have no fixed dates that we can share at this time

Just a quick one regarding territory availability, I have no dates that I can share with you for when this will come your country (if you are not already supported), honestly if I did then I would be happy to share these.

another joke in the division called SCEE like so many things at SCEE

Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 3:31 pm by JordanBlack68
Not happy at all, another ridicious decision, just because I used the 30 day trial, I’m not allowed to use the 180 day trial. All my data was stolen and I’m not allowed to use the 180 day trial.
Stupid.

Well thats unfair if I only tried previously free for 30 days. Whats wrong with giving 180 days to me?
26
Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 3:45 pm by seany1
6 months free lol this service must be failing very badly
27
Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 3:46 pm by tom1234321
Either people are doing something wrong or you can only listen to the first 30 seconds of the song making it really pointless, or am I wrong here?
Basic plan is pointless and premium isn’t for me especially with the monthly fee.

Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 3:46 pm by spikkle
not for for those who used thr 30 day free trial, not fair at all. They should be given 150 days free to make up for it.
Something else that isn’t fair bout SCEE.

Please do not release this on the ios devices UNTIL you have released it to ALL countries, also, when the rest of us finally get this service, that there is no reason we do not have access to now, we better darn well also get this offer.

why can i only here 1st 10 seconds of a song I WANT SOME OASIS SOME MIGHT SAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:01 pm by craggyisland
No point in 180 days of free usage when you can’t actually listen to the tracks you want to listen to. 30 seconds of each track. Have judt downloaded this for nothing, pity because the sound quality is great through the TV. £9.99 to subscribe when I can get it for free from so many websites? Just a joke.

How long does this offer last? I don’t wanna miss out…
33
Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:06 pm by lorianguy
After the trial do you automatically get charged until you cancel or does it simply expire like the free 30 days of PSplus?

Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:07 pm by Shadow-King
When I saw this post I was very pleased cuz I enjoyed my 30 days trial b4, however after reading that I cannot use the 180 day sub becuz i wanted to trial it b4, I am rather upset.
It is a good service and the ONLY reason I haven’t subscribed is because I cannot afford to.

Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:09 pm by NiallUK-93
This is absolutely pathetic Sony, why would anyone want to listen to only 30 seconds of a song? This is a complete waste of time so I recommend people to not even bother, you accept your 180 days trial and search their limited catalog to listen to a mere 30 seconds of the song. Absolute Joke.
36
Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:09 pm by Do-_One
well downloaded it then deleted it could only listen to 1st 10 seconds or so of a song. Nevermind dint look bad but not worth 9.99 just to listen to full tracks

Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:23 pm by MafiaCub
This isn’t new… I signed up for this last week, and to be honest, it’s crap. Premium is MUCH better and well worth the extra cost when the trial runs out. I want full songs on demand, not 30 second clips. Playlists are a must as well and don’t exist on basic.
to be honest, I think the basic package is a really poor example of what the service can do. Which is a shame, because it’s actually been something my wife has loved since we got the premium one purely because so many of her favourite bands are on it.

Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:23 pm by JordanBlack68
The Basic plan disables the 30 sec song limit?
39
Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 4:27 pm by Joey Payne
@ All – If you are listening to a track from either a genre or chart section you will hear the full track, “liking” or “Disliking” a track, personlaises that channel for you. Thanks

@ joey bit of a false advertisment m8 why didn’t you put that in the blog at the top.
Anyways thanks for the 180 days free. Thanks for letting me try it but it seems like a bit of a ball ache to listen to music u cant search for.
Thanks anyways.

Have to agree with what the others have said. 180 days on paper does sound generous but when you can only listen to 10 seconds of a song it doesn’t mean anything. Instead of 180 days why not have a shorter trial period where you can listen to full songs, perhaps pre selected ones?
44
Posted on 22 June, 2011 at 5:09 pm by craven84
May have already been mentioned but you can only listen to full songs as listed on the channels option. Not as bad as i first thought but i think i’ll give this a miss, thanks.

Can anyone help me out here. Ive never used this service before. I just downloaded it on PS3 – Installed and it come up with some active 180 free trial page. I accpted then went into the program. Now am in there it brings up a page saying “30 days unlimited subscription + free trial £9.99″.
This is not what I want so click cirlce to preview and goto setting then check for free trial and it tells me “Too bad! Unfortunately, your account cannot take advantage of the basic plan 180-day free trial” No idea why this is as it’s the first time i’ve ever used the service. Can anyone point me to were I can get help or a MOD please reply why am not elegible when I meant all the criteria ?
Thanks.
