‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 22nd June 2011

blog_featured_image_storeUpdate3_raw

Hello everyone – Wednesday comes once more and once more we provide you with a hearty stew of gaming goodness.

Speed freak will be happy this week, as not only do we have a Sonic Generations demo for you, (although you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to snag it) but also the full Blu-Ray release of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit explodes onto the Store for digital download.

Speaking of Sonic, the blue one celebrates his 20th Anniversary tomorrow and to celebrate our pals at SEGA are bringing you a great deal on Sonic content with the 20th Anniversary bundle – Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 4 Episode 1, Sonic Adventure (and DX add-on), and the Sonic 4 dynamic theme are all available at a reduced bundle price for only 20 days, so if you’re a lover of the speedy little hedgehog then nab it while you can.

Heaps of DLC this week, including content for big hitters like LA Noire, Mortal Kombat and LBP2 in the mix – check below for the full list.

You’ll be hearing more from me on Friday this week, so I’ll see you then.

Hi Ross
After months of reading comments I have been desperate to write something and have found out only today how to do this. :)
Anyway I hope you answer my question as I am very new to this. :)

When are we getting CRASH BASH as a PS one Classic? Please say it has been legally cleared and is in its final stages of Q&A.
I am a huge fan of the crash bandicoot games and have played all of them except Crash Bash, hence why I am asking for it, and Activision have stopped releasing games for that series, and are not planning to, so the only thing to look forward to is the releases on PSN.

    James Gallagher 22 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm

Ross is in a meeting this afternoon (one that I also have to dash to now) but I’ll ask him to come on and respond later this afternoon, if possible, or tomorrow morning.

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:13 pm

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay.

    Some housekeeping:

The Mortal Kombat Klassic Skins pack is now priced correctly at £3.19/€3.99 and equivalent on the SCEE PlayStation®Store. Those consumers who purchased the pack at the incorrect price will automatically have the difference refunded to their PlayStation®Store wallet as soon as possible.

Additionally, if you’re still waiting for a partial refund for Beyond Good & Evil, please be aware that there has been a longer than usual processing time for refunds as a result of our earlier outage. We’re still working through the backlog but we have a full list of those who are eligible and if you have not yet received your refund it will be added to your wallet soon.

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused those affected and we appreciate your patience as we get back up to full speed.

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:14 pm

    Hi cheeky,

Crash Bash is one of the titles we’re targeting for release so when we have more information I’ll be glad to share it.

just wondering when modnation racers will be available and if there is a plus discount, this was meant to come out on 20 April but due to obvious reasons, I understand the delay.

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:15 pm

ModNation Racers will still be making its way to the Store as a digital download and once it becomes available, it will be discounted for Plus members

cheeky4life 22 June, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   3

Hi Ross
I can see cool boarders 2 on the PS one classics section with no logo, it was withdrawn from the store in 2008, and I was just about to download it when I noticed that.

Can you remove it please?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:16 pm

Cool Boarders 2 was removed but has since been re-released. You can download it safely but I’ll look into getting that thumbnail fixed.

LA Noire and OFP:RR DLC for me not much else…

halljames 22 June, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   5

LEGO Pirates for the PSP last week, and now LEGO Star Wars Clone Wars this week.

LOVE IT……

link1983 22 June, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   6

Awesome update. I can’t wait to play Dungeon Siege 3. nagging BTTF EP4 and will be buying Braid (Plus) :D New stuff this friday? Oh go on then. :D

darkhorus15 22 June, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   7

No PSOne classic :( We want the Spyro classics, do you have any info on them? Last time I asked about the Spyro classics, someone said they were in the bug testing phase, and that was last year.

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:17 pm

There have been some hold ups with the Spyro games but they’re not ruled out yet – if I get more information on these you’ll hear about it here first.

LiquidSolid 22 June, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   8

Posted in the PSN+ post as well but I still haven’t received my BG&E HD refund. It’s been 2 weeks now.

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:18 pm

Sorry for the delay, as I mentioned above it’ll take some time to get through them all but you will deifnitely be refunded in the near future.

KylieDog 22 June, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   9

Weak update.

Any word on the Resident Evil avatars the US got? I assume we can wait 6 to 12+ months for them as usual?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:20 pm

They will be coming but unfortunately Capcom US tends to submit their avatars to SCEA before Capcom EU submit tem to SCEE – it’s an approvals thing on both sides. We will be getting them and it certainly shouldn’t be as long as 6 months.

pb-live 22 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   10

PSP Ridge Racer 2 Please!

Domino2097 22 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   11

So how do we go about getting our Beyond Good and Evil refund?

And also when are we getting Skarlet DLC for Mortal Kombat?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:19 pm

As announced by Warner Brothers, there was a technical issue which cropped up at the last minute that held up the Skarlet DLC for Mortal Kombat this week. It should be with you in next week’s publish.

pnrutto 22 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   12

Cool update, although it’s easy to tell that the store’s all caught up.

laticspieman 22 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   13

Unrelated but UNCHARTED 3 BETA NEXT WEEK!! Sorry i’m a teensy bit excited :p Do you know if us plus users will get it the same day as the americans or the day after when the eu store updates?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:21 pm

I believe we’re planning to dish out the Uncharted 3 Beta goodies on the same day as our US counterparts. Not long to go!

sanji101 22 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   14

Any news on the White Knight Chronicles 2 DLC?

Bealinator 22 June, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   15

Hey Ross – any ETA on both Resident Evil 2 and Tombi?

And good news on that Sonic Bundle – I might actually add £5 to my wallet to buy it IF I buy Resident Evil Directors Cut.

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:22 pm

Tombi is on its way, I think there’s a technical hitch with Resident Evil 2 but it’s not a total show-stopper, so you should be seeing it in the future.

SpideyWolvie 22 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   16

Will we be getting the Marvel vs Capcom 3 avatars?

Shou_Kobayashi 22 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   17

Hi Ross…

so what are we hearing on friday from you, some teasing pls?

Anyway, how did you perceive E3?

My greatest announcement was Sly 4… I just got to know Sly through the Collection (a real bargain, 3 GREAT GAMES for a great asking price … and all of them garuantee lots of hrs of fun), but I learned to love that racoon…

And since everything back to normal after some unwanted incident I can nag again about SOUL CALIBUR/EDGE and JADE COCOON! … ah and FINAL FANTASY VII when, you promised ;)

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:24 pm

All those PSone titles you guys have suggested over the last few months have been passed on to the publishers in question (and internally for the SCE ones) so your feedback has been really valuable. Keep making noise about theones you want to see!

pnrutto 22 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   18

Now I just gotta wait until more PSX games pop up.

GravelDust 22 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   19

Is there any idea on when the UK might see the Wizardry game yet?

ChrisandJulie 22 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   20

Lego Star Wars PSP = GREAT!

No PSOne Classics and no other PSP games = SIGH.

Death-In-Pants 22 June, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   21

Any news when the https://store.playstation.com/login.gvm website will be up? Calling sony helpline direct is a joke.

Shou_Kobayashi 22 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   22

.. ah and where is my Sly avatar gone … o.O? Buggy, buggy blog?

Death-In-Pants 22 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   23

Any news when the website https://store.playstation.com/login.gvm will be available? Calling the helpline directly is a joke.

The-Sellick 22 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   24

Is there any word on when Persona 3 is hitting the store?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:25 pm

I’ve been speaking to the publisher, so I know it’s coming, but I don’t have a date yet. I don’t think it’s too far off though.

Bealinator 22 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   25

Please, please, please Ross leave us a cryptic hint if there is going to be a huge arrival of certain PSOne classics!

Like the Resident Evil one you left a while back, but adapted for Resident Evil 2… Or Tombi! Such as “Those evil swine…”

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:26 pm

Sorry it’s nothing PSone related this time but I’m still working on a lot of PSone stuff behind the scenes.

JohnMc-MMA 22 June, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   26

Where’s the MK Skarlet pack? Don’t tell me you guys are screwing up again.

JAMIE086546 22 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   27

Wow 1st we wait 3weeks for the DLC for mortal combat costumes then they said the new character is out for USA yesterday and we don’t get it typical……..

kaanmijo1995 22 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   28

Can’t download the LA Noire DLC in The Netherlands…

D3NZ_87 22 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   29

Ross, what about the Skarlet DLC for Mortal Kombat????

and how about answering a decent amount of questions this week, eh?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:28 pm

I do my best to get on and answer questions but unfortunately if I spent all the time I wanted to speaking to you guys, nothing else would get done. :)

Better late than never, I’ll do my best to get through a good chunk this week although 9 pages is a fairly daunting prospect.

slayerking69 22 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   30

@cheeky4life
It was obviously put back on the store, The icon works fine here.

TheSidious 22 June, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   31

No Skarlet DLC for MK this week? :(((

Nightmare966 22 June, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   32

Ross, I’m much sorry to add another comment about the Mortal kombat DLC (Skarlet), but I was really hoping we got it today along the Costumes…

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:29 pm

Sorry guys, it is outside of my control but there should be no problems gettin it to you next week.

Bealinator 22 June, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   33

Ah, that reminds me – are we getting Beyond Good and Evil HD avatars? It was said those who bought it in the first two weeks (I bought it on day 2 after a price ‘adjustment’) would receive these for free.

Are we getting this soon?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:32 pm

I’ve got a phone call with Ubisoft tomorrow so I’ll find out where we are with those and report back.

Suzzopher 22 June, 2011 @ 1:14 pm   34

Cool, Akimi Village :)

grizla75 22 June, 2011 @ 1:14 pm   35

ChrisandJulie 22 June, 2011 @ 1:14 pm   36

PSP Games we’re still waiting for…

1) Crash Tag Team Racing
2) Virtua Tennis 3
3) Secret Agent Clank
4) Worms: Open Warfare 1 & 2
5) Metal Slug Anthology
6) Lego Star Wars II
7) Lego Indiana Jones II
8) Scooby Doo

Is it really that hard Sony?

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:34 pm

Well, only two of those are actually ours to publish but I will talk to the relevant parties and see what can be done about those back catalogue titles.

djax-djax 22 June, 2011 @ 1:14 pm   37

No minis this week? No special offers this week? :-(. I will save a lot money this week, very bad update for PSP owners :-(.

Darkos87 22 June, 2011 @ 1:14 pm   38

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:35 pm

Hey, I’m doing my best – things are settling down a bit more now so you’ll hopefully be seeing a bit more of me on here. Ah, the good old days…

patacama 22 June, 2011 @ 1:15 pm   40

Hey Ross, we will have any sales for future updates?

what is up with the region stuff today..?

American McGee Alice´s not in Denmark..? and Lego Star Wars Clone Wars PSP is almost only available in Denmark..?

and could you please fix the Countries: AE, AU, GB, IE, NZ stuff at the top of the articles.. they almost never include the right countries..

Would be nice to have Resi 4 and 5 advatars like the USA Store have, look pretty cool. Lookin forward to the next back to the future, but since LBP was released as a welcome back game i want some LBP content but it is all way too expensive, reckon i will come down in price soon Ross some of the stuff?

Thanks bro

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:37 pm

Funny you should mention that, we’ve got some LBP half-price goodness on the way – keep an eye out for more info.

chicken_freak88 22 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm   43

Hi Ross, cool update :)

Couple of quick questions though, any chance of Rage Racer & Soulblade from Namco on PS1

Also, any chance of Square Enix bringing Crisis Core to PSN?

Thanks

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:39 pm

I’ve requested both those titles from Namco, so the more noise you make on here the quicker we’re likely to see them!

I’ve also asked Square-Enix to consider a digital version of Crisis Core quite a few times, but so far I have no news on that.

identity25 22 June, 2011 @ 1:16 pm   44

If you’d be so kind to answer:

When will be the next normal sale (the ones that come about every 2 weeks), we havent had any new ones since the store was up.

Can I get the welcome back playstation plus on a psp (via mediago)

    Ross McGrath 23 June, 2011 @ 6:40 pm

We’re going to be doing some interestings things with the sales over the Summer months, but don’t worry there will be plenty of bargains for you to grab!

I’m definitely going to be doing at LEAST 33. :)
Sorry about the lack of comms from me recently, as you can imagine I’ve had to do a lot of running around to get things sorted out but hopefully I’ll be able to give you a lot more keyboard time going forward!

If you shower praise on them, you’ll get an answer. Ask anything regarding content or if you have a genuine query and you’ll get absolutely nothing.

That’s not strictly true now is it? In fact, I tend not to reply to the people that are happy at all, because they’re happy. :)
(Doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it when people are pleased though!)

It’s all a possibility, we’re working on some initiatives internally and as soon as we’re ready to go you can be sure I’ll be here letting you know all about it!

WHY IN THE WORLD the DLC pack for MK is 6.99? Are you kidding me? It’s TWICE THE PRICE I’D HAVE PAID IF I WERE AMERICAN. 4.99 dollars = 6.99 euros?? Shame on you, totally boycotting the pack. And you forgot Skarlet too, I’m ashamed.

Okay guys, this is the only comment on this subject I’ll be responding to, because there’s no point repeating the same thing over and over –

I’ve popped a statement up on comment one and Warner Brothers should have got the word out by now over Facebook and Twitter.
We’re very sorry about the price problem that cropped up, but if you paid over the odds, you’ll be getting your money back and if you held off, you can grab the Klassic Skins pack for a much mor reasonable £3.19/€3.99
