‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 15th June 2011

magic_storeupdate

Hey everyone – it’s update time and can you believe it, I’m actually HERE this week, in the office, so I’ve got no excuses and you’ll be getting some comments out of me this week.

We’ve got plenty of goodies for you this week and leading the way is Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, the sequel to the fiendishly addictive Duels of the Planeswalkers, which we’ve just recently made available to you all as part of your subscription through PlayStation Plus and the Welcome Back program. If you’re a full, paying Plus subscriber, you can pick this new edition up, complete with brand new decks and game modes at 20% off the very reasonable asking price of €8.99 – but if you’re a 30 day Welcome Back Plus subscriber, don’t fret – we do have some more free and discounted content for you guys coming 22nd June.

Other notable mentions this week are the third instalment of Back to the Future, Midnight Club LA from the mighty Rockstar, and PSP offerings from THQ and Disney. Namco Bandai bless us with a new PSone Classic in the form of Tekken, two previously Plus exclusive minis and more DLC than you can shake a rather large stick at.

Don’t forget you can still get the Rockstar Pass, which nets you all the LA Noire DLC at a reduced price for a limited time, and we’ve got a small sale on Rock Band content for this week only.

And in case you missed the notification last week, Beyond Good and Evil is now at the correct price, anyone who purchased at the incorrect price should contact our Customer Services team and the difference will be refunded to your wallet.

That’s all for now, see you all in the comments.

E3 Replays: Mick Hocking Shares Future Of 3D

Countries: , , , ,

For those who followed PlayStation.Blog last week, you might have seen Jeff, Sid, Rey and I hosting live interviews and demos with the developers and executives behind the biggest games and announcements of E3 2011. This week, we’re uploading those videos to give you an ever so slight idea of what it’s like to travel through time. Now, let’s revisit that heady day of last Thursday when I spoke to Mick Hocking, our resident 3D expert, on what we can expect from the future of stereoscopy and how it will impact gaming, and I ask that ubiquitous question — why don’t we have glasses-free 3D TVs yet?

Stay tuned throughout the following week for more E3 Replays.

Resistance 3 Dev Diary: Cold New World

Countries: , , , ,

We hope that you have enjoyed all of the recent Resistance 3 content that has been coming your way over the last few weeks. From the E3 stage demo in tattered St. Louis, to the new multiplayer footage from our Wales Seaside and Colombia Trainyard maps, to the Olly Moss packfront, and various retailer pre-order bonuses, it’s been an exciting time for us to share so many cool parts of the Resistance 3 experience coming to you from 7 September.

Earlier this year, the PlayStation.Blog team approached us about creating its first ever dev diary series, focusing on various elements of Resistance 3. After discussing it with them and the Resistance team at Sony, we were all really excited to collaborate on this project. The dev diaries will cover a range of topics across the game, and will roll out as we get closer to Resistance 3′s launch date.

They are also special, as they were the first videos to be shot in the Resistance 3 war-room that some of you may have heard us talk about in various interviews. While we’ve taken special care to ensure that the backgrounds aren’t legible, you can get an idea of the main room at Insomniac that lays out the entire R3 single-player campaign experience, a room any person at the company can go to and get an up-to-date picture of what will be happening at any moment in the game.

Everyone at Insomniac is really stoked to see this one turn out the way it has. We hope you enjoy it, and will look forward to the other videos in the series that will be rolling out this summer.

As always, stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter feeds for all of the latest news about Resistance 3. And if you have questions about everything we showed at E3, the Battle: LA demo, the dev diary, or what I’m eating from the Insomniac kitchen right now, post below and I’ll do my best to answer!
