‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 27th July 2011

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update 27th July 2011

Hello everyone, it’s Wednesday and so time for a Store update.

A few new PS3 titles for you this week – leading the charge is the hotly anticipated Section 8: Prejudice, fresh from a tour of duty on the other platform and raring to go on PSN. And what’s more, for this week only you’ll be able to purchase Section 8: Prejudice with both of its DLC packs included at no extra cost – grab this deal while you can as it’ll be gone before you know it.

Plus members get a little something extra too, as James previously mentioned, not only will Plus consumers get an exclusive in-game unlock but the first 1000 Plus members who are opted in for email who buy the game will get a free copy of the original Section 8!

What else this week? You can take your pick between a relaxing few holes on the minigolf course or defending your neighbourhood from bloodthirsty zombies – I appreciate that’s not an easy decision.

Four PSP titles also take the plunge and move to Essentials today, so it’s a great time to grab a bargain on one of these Disney games – we’ve also permanently reduced the price of the DLC for both Hannah Montana and Toy Story 3.

The LA Noire avatars make an appearance this week too, alongside a new Traffic case, and we’ve got a good selection of DLC for some other goodly titles for you to sift through.

Oh and something called Call of Duty: Black Ops has a map pack out tomorrow, I’m sure some of you will be interested.

That’s it from me, enjoy your content and get ready to Play.

I DON’T want Tombi, Resident Evil 2 or 3, Wild arms, Tomb Raider 2 or any others, I WANT CRASH BASH. So there is no need to concentrate just on them, there are other popular games as well. Why don’t you make CRASH BASH number 1 on priority, like the resident evils and other games listed above. My guess is, it’s probably not even in the top 10.

What I don’t understand is that CRASH BASH is a Sony published game; therefore, legally it should take about two weeks to clear. Sony published games are supposed to be much easier to publish therefore should be done first.

Can you please answer ALL of my points and not just one.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 1:38 pm

Actually Crash Bash is in the next batch of titles we’re trying to release, and has legally cleared because it doesn’t have any of the external license issues associated with the trickier games.

You’re also listing a mix of third and first party titles there, we’re not responsible for all those titles but the ones we are responsible for: Tombi; Wild Arms and the like are all being processed as fast as we’re able.

When will we get the pink knight for castle crashers?
Also when will you sort out the missing somgs for Rock Band games? I remember asking this half a year ago and NOTHING has happened at all. Instead of blaming it on the companies (and the companies will blame it on Sony) can you make sure things get fixed? I used to have a complete list of songs gone missing on the store but have no access to it right now

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 1:53 pm

I am now investigating the Pink Knight issue and spoke to The Behemoth about this recently. Currently the status on the third-party systems is that the Pink Knight DLC failed at QA during its latest submission and there hasn’t been a new code submission yet.
Since this has gone on for quite some time now, I have asked third party to make contact with the publisher and look at getting a new submission into QA as fast as possible. Once the content does pass QA we can have it on the Store within two weeks, so in subsequent posts you can ask me about it and I’ll try to kep you up to datwe with the current status.

This seems to be more of a breakdown of communication rather than anyone being at fault, so I’ve done what I can to get things moving again.

You still haven’t fixed my problem with the update two weeks ago. The Awesome Summer Mini Bundle came with the French Version of Zombie Tycoon. I’ve been waiting a week now and am especially angry that you can’t be arsed to fix a mistake with such a small update. You can’t even just give me a refund.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:07 pm

Hello, I’ve just got off the phone with some of the chaps upstairs and the situation is currently as follows:

The correct version of Zombie Tycoon was substituted into the bundle around 36 hours after the publish of the bundle, so all new consumers would not have been effected.
If you got the french version, I’ve been told that you can contact customer services with the issue and that the Operatiosn team will credit your account with the correct version of Zombie Tycoon – in practical terms this means that if you go into your download list you will find the right version.

This will only happen if you actively make the request with customer services, so I advise you and anyone else who got the French version to drop a line to customer services and this should be sorted out for you.

Ross

Have you sorted the Cool boarders 2 thumbnail out so I can download it yet?

You guys seriously need to get organised. Tekken 2 is in the S section, the Tomb Raider games are not in order, as well as the final fantasy games, I don’t know which one is which and can you put Crash Team Racing just after Crash: warped, and hopefully Crash bash after that if you ever do decide to wake up and quickly get it.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:16 pm

    Hi,

I have organised to get the Cool Boarders 2 thumbnail updated with the PSone Classic treatment and it should be fixed on the Store soon.

I’ve also passed on your merchandising points to the team that look after the layout on the Store, so that will be investigated. Hopefully we can get those issues squared away in time for the next publish.

    Thank you.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:52 pm

Hey, I’m reliably informed that the Operations team have made all these fixes and they should be live on the Store now.

Ross! Where is the Sideswipe unlock for the Transformers 3 game? it’s already a week late. Has Activision contacted you about it?

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:18 pm

Hello – the Sideswipe unlock should be available from the in-game Transformers store, Activision opted not to release it on the store front.

Sorry, I can’t discuss this, but the game is scheduled for release soon.

Ross

Where is that PSone classic blog request thing you were talking about years ago, oops sorry, months ago?

Oh and don’t ignore the question!

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:20 pm

I’m not allowed to talk about it yet, but we’ve got some cool news for you about PSone emulations soon.

Dark-Twisted 27 July, 2011 @ 1:35 pm   10

Yes! Early enough for you to see my comment :D

Ross, my birthday is coming up soon, and I know you must get tired of people requesting PSone classics, but I’d LOVE to see Ape Escape on the store. I figured since it’s on the Japan PSN, it should work with the emulator?

I’ll love you forever if you put it on the list. Cheers :D

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:28 pm

Ape Escape is on our list – the Euro version failed QA, in fact I have the QA report in front of me and the problem was that the game didn’t detect the PSP Analogue stick. The game constantly pops up the message about not being able to detect the stick and then quits out.

If the game is out on the Japanese Store then they may have a way around the issue for that version – would you be happy with the Japanese version if that’s all we could get working? I’d be interested to know your thoughts.

kool-chris93 27 July, 2011 @ 1:35 pm   11

Hey Ross,
I’ve got two questions
1) Is there any possibility of adding the Australian Dollar to this update? Its kinda annoying not being able to see the prices through this site.
2) Are there any plans of merging PlayStation Plus with Music Unlimited. Both subscription services are fantastic, but I cannot see why we have to pay for two separate subscriptions when they’re both offered and run through Sony PlayStation.
Thanks in advance.
Nice update BTW

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:37 pm

    Hello,

    In answer to your questions:
    1) It’s not impossible but we serve over 15 separate currencies and it’s not really practical to list them all in the blog update, hence I follow the GBP/EURO layout that was instigated by Mike. At the moment I would say there are no plans but we can look into this if there’s enough demand. Listing each currency would be a fairly tough thing to do, since compiling the blog post is a manual process.

    2) That’s not really my area, I’m afraid. I would agree that perhaps in the future it might be possible to consolidate these subscriptions or perhaps to offer a discount to those who have both, but business development of that kind is outside of my area of expertise.

    Thank you for the comments.

Sergirt 27 July, 2011 @ 1:35 pm   12

Hello, hello;)!

You don’t forget fight for the Classics Japanese PSOne (Megaman 1-2-3, Sonic Wings Specials…) and USA PSOne (Xenogears, Parasite Eve 1, Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana, Einhander, Dragon Quest VII, Brave Fencer Musashi, Saga Frontier, Lunar 1-2, Ogre Battle, Tales of Destiny…)(Great games;O) for the Old Continent!!!!

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:38 pm

Duly noted – there’s a group of us here who are working hard on trying to get you US and Japanese imports for the Store.

TwinBlade04 27 July, 2011 @ 1:35 pm   13

Hey there, Ross! Copy and paste from last week:

I got a new PS3 and transferred all the data from the old one. The game data (installs and updates) was causing problems in the process, so I deleted all of them thinking I could just update/install everything again. And it all well for all games, except for Motorstorm 1.

Well, Motorstorm doesn’t update the way other games do nowadays. I need to enter the game and choose “Online” from the menu so I can download the update. The problem is that it seems the servers were closed and there’s no way to download the update. It isn’t my connection or anything, there’s also other people that can’t connect to the servers and download it.
And without the update I can’t use the DLC packs which I bought a few years ago and are still on sale in the store. That doesn’t seem right.

I know the game is quite old now and the sequels are already available, but what concerns me the most is not being able to use the DLC I bought previously.
Is there a way you can explain this problem to the Evolution Studios and sort out a way for people that bought the DLC (and will buy, since they are still in the store) to download the update, please?

Hope you can help me.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:46 pm

    Heya,

WELL outside my ability to help, I’m afraid, but I’ve passed the issue on to the product manager for Motorstorm here at SCEE, so hopefully he will be able to help.

Hey

Just wondering why the PS1 Classic ‘Driver’ is missing from the IRISH PS store, I asked Ubisoft about it but they told me to come back to Sony about it??

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:42 pm

Remember those tick sheets I mentioned in the system about whether or not a game can release on a certain Store? The Irish Store is not ticked for Driver at the moment.
I believe that’s an oversight rather than any kind of problem with why the game should not be on the Irish store, so I’ve sent a note to Ubisoft and the Ubi account manager here about updating that so we can push the game to all locales.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Any news on Tomb Raider 2 or the Spyro games for PSOne Classics?

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:47 pm

Okay well, Tomb Raider 2 failed at QA, so that’s not going anywhere any time soon. Spyro also had some failure issues but we’re looking into them – these titles are obviously high priority for us so we’re trying to find a workaround.

Sergirt 27 July, 2011 @ 1:35 pm   16

thekeats1999 27 July, 2011 @ 1:36 pm   18

So when are we getting Warhammer 40,000 kill team?

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:50 pm

You’d have to wait for THQ to tell you, I’m not allowed to announce dates not in the public domain.

magmar126 27 July, 2011 @ 1:36 pm   19

Still no news/information about SPELUNKER HD? :(

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:53 pm

Spelunker HD was pulled by the publisher from the previous release, but is currently scheduled for a August 10th release and should be involved in PS+

Ursinho 27 July, 2011 @ 1:36 pm   20

Discount all NFS:undercover DLC on finnish store also for BLES-450 (Finnish version), not just BLES-449 (Who knows what) as part of NFS campagn and i will buy!

Am I missing something or is Back To The Future Epidode 5 not on this list? The deal was 1 Episode released on a monthly basis which was around the middle of each month and now the last store update of the month and still no episode 5!!! This really has put me of buying staggered release titles.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:51 pm

I realise it hasn’t been ideal but we did have a big PSN outage in the middle of the release schedule that knocked everything else off kilter. Any future staggered releases should be much smoother. Of course you can always wait until the full series is available until you launch.

Shaggy2000 27 July, 2011 @ 1:37 pm   22

the new section 8 title looks pretty good, will have to give it a try.

Roxas598 27 July, 2011 @ 1:37 pm   23

No BTTF? but this is the last update of the month and it says releasing monthly. If I’m right that’s technical false advertising is it not? :(

Anything about Ape Escape aswell Ross?

psychobudgie 27 July, 2011 @ 1:38 pm   24

Where is BTTF Ep 5? It’s due today.

popandfresh7 27 July, 2011 @ 1:39 pm   25

Hey Ross how is it going? Just wondering is Spyro enter the dragon on your PSone list to be added to the PSN one day? if not please add it there :)

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:57 pm

It is of course on the list, but sadly as is the way with these things, the best and most popular titles seem to be the ones with the most problems. We are working on the Spyro titles and when I have an update I’ll let you know.

Chaosprower 27 July, 2011 @ 1:39 pm   26

Wow! Zero PSP games! So unexpected!

If at least one of those Disney offers was Kingdom Hearts…

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 2:59 pm

I’ve been trying to encourage the publishers to release more PSP titles digitally but often it’s not cost effective for them to do so – they have to get their development teams back in to convert them and the revenue they generate sometimes doesn’t cover the cost.

If you’re after PSP content we have a MASSIVE PSP sale planned in August, so watch this space.

TheBigBoss0001 27 July, 2011 @ 1:39 pm   27

Any chance we will get the ‘Heart of Darkness’ or ‘Loaded’ PS1 Classics to the store?

darkhorus15 27 July, 2011 @ 1:40 pm   28

@#1: I agree Crash Bash should be a high priority, as should the Spyro Classics.

GraveDiggaUK 27 July, 2011 @ 1:40 pm   29

Any news on Back to the Future part 5. Been waiting weeks. Any E.T.A for it??? Good update

greekgoddj 27 July, 2011 @ 1:40 pm   30

Since you don’t read the comments lately, I will repeat what i said last week. Last week’s blog post said that Echochrome 2 Soundtrack was available on the store but it isn’t. Will it be on today? it has ONLY been several months since it was out in the US store.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 3:01 pm

I can’t comment on this I’m afraid, it has been held up for reasons outside of my control – it’s definitely still coming.

WKC2 – dlc please – when is it coming – its been more than a month since you stated an update was coming soon

also when does Sony intend to take steps to do something about the hacking of saves on WKC2 – photo documentation of the usage of hacks

http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/49899/t1663935-cheater-hacker-glitcher/

also the Ar Tonelico dlc is STILL MISSING

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 4:35 pm

I’ve asked the Operation team to find out what happened to the Ar Tonelico DLC, they’ll instate it onto the Store as soon as they’re able.

The WKC2 DLC release is being held up by Japan at the moemnt, at the time I spoke about it last the info I had was correct. I can’t give you an ETA at the moment but it’s all coming.

As far as the hacking, I’m not the one to comment on that but I’ve passed your concerns on the the WKC product manager (the other Ross).

    Thanks

Sherbanator 27 July, 2011 @ 1:41 pm   32

Any news on the BRINK and Test Drive Unlimited 2 DLC?

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 4:10 pm

I have no news on Test Drive DLC I’m afraid but the Brink DLC will be releasing from the 3rd August onwards.

dial_595 27 July, 2011 @ 1:41 pm   33

…Why is Dragon Age 2 Legacy DLC not listed?

trutenprower 27 July, 2011 @ 1:41 pm   34

@cheeky4life

It is not all about you. Stop being really obnoxious and selfish that only your interests matters. Crash Bash is in the queue to be released just wait for it. Games like Tombi, Suikoden, Resident Evil, Wild Arms and more are more requested by members. Be grateful your game is actually waiting to be published.

And Ross can you please look at the blog days after you have posted it to get some replies please? We haven’t been getting them a lot recently or we get blogs with very little replies to people’s questions. A good idea would be to hire someone to purely reply to comments and if they need some information they could pass it on to you and you could provide it with them.

And I support some more PS1 games getting released such as:

Poy Poy
Poy Poy 2
Alundra
Suikoden II
Star Ocean 2
Pocket Fighter
Marvel vs Capcom
Fighting Force

There are others but I can’t think of any others right now.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 4:52 pm

Everyone’s opinion is absolutely valid – thank you for your list.
Steps are being taken for multiple account holders to manage blog comments in future updates.

Hey Ross, how about doing something for your money?
Instead of wasting space by repeating the old sales list (which I still rate as crap, especially considering that they not only got the better but also new discounts each week in the US), you could invest some minutes and describe the new content.

Only thanks to the US blog I have an idea what those DLC packs for Dirt 3 really include.

Anways, another week with 0€ spent on the PSN Store. If you others should also feel the urge to spend some money for games, I suggest the new http://www.humblebundle.com/.

Get 5 games and pay just whatever you want.
Good games, good price and it is for a good case (charity).
In other words: Entirely different to SCEE.

SebPrime 27 July, 2011 @ 1:42 pm   36

Still hoping for US PS1 classics. Mostly Xenogears and Parasite Eve 1

also when is the store going to be fixed when entering in from White Knight Chronicles – people want to purchase items but keep getting the error

error obtaining product list

kingcrowbaruk 27 July, 2011 @ 1:42 pm   38

What exactly is the problem with Modnation Racers PS3?

Licensing issues? Holding it back for PS Vita launch?

If I were the developers I would be very annoyed with the publisher (SCEE) holding back the game and losing sales for over 3 months.

So can I ask the store team to ask the publisher why they wont publish?

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 5:02 pm

SCEE is the publisher in this instance.
ModNation Racers should be publishing shortly with the promised Plus discount.

hammy78 27 July, 2011 @ 1:42 pm   39

Hi, I was just wondering, I have been a PS+ subscriber since the launch in Europe and just renewed my subscription today. But when I went to check how long I had available on the games I have gotten it still says that I have 32 days remaining, so does it take a while for the subscription to be updated, or do they not stack?

LazyBaker 27 July, 2011 @ 1:43 pm   40

Hey Ross! Just wondering if there’s any chance of the old PSone Harry Potter games making an appearance on the Store. My little brother recently started the books, and he watches the movie after he finishes each one. It would be great if he could get the full experience by playing each game also! I’m sure they would sell well in general, but I imagine licensing could be tough for them.

Any reply would be great, thanks.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 5:04 pm

I would think you are right about the licensing, these are EA owned so I can make the request for you, but ultimately it would be up to them.

teh__pwnerer 27 July, 2011 @ 1:43 pm   41

Any word on the Pink Knight dlc for Castle Crashers?
And will EU ever get Alundra?

Dante_Zero 27 July, 2011 @ 1:43 pm   42

wow, come on Ross just be honest you guys and girls at the SCEE store team just really arn’t trying anymore. Also allow me to thank you for taking the time out to respond to the 450 odd comments from last week it was most imformative to read your replys?

You know it really is insulting when a public rep can’t even be bothered to reply to people anymore.

Also were nearly in month 8 where is auditorium HD please.

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 5:07 pm

Auditorium HD is in Stage 2 submission and awaiting a new build from the publisher for it to be able to enter QA.

BTTF EP5??

Section 8 free to the first 1000 is unfair on those who work 9-5. I’ll be home for 6ish, do you think i have any chance of getting that?

Faithless_mr 27 July, 2011 @ 1:43 pm   44

I’ll just copy paste the comment I have been posting in the past weeks (five weeks in a row now lol), since I posted a suggestion and I’d appreciate some feedback (either positive or negative :P )

“This is a bold suggestion, and I doubt it would ever see the light of day, but it won’t hurt to give it a shot (also not sure if this is where I should be posting this suggestion, but if not, I’ll wait until the next week PSN update to repost)

I’d very much like to see a HD port of Rogue Galaxy (By Level 5 and SCJapan studios, published by SCE) (wikipedia article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_galaxy)

I’m sure there are many rpg fans out there which would want to give this game a try, given it came out in the late days of the PS2 and it’s quite a rare game nowadays.

Thanks in advance!”

Bonus question: Any idea of when we’ll see Resident Evil 2, Tomb Raider II and Legend of Dragoon on the store? Thank you :D

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 5:10 pm

I’m afraid I have no say as to what does and doesn’t qualify for an HD remake but I will pass on your suggestion – if there is commercial potential for the title it would be considered.

All the PSone titles you mentioned are in process but I do not have any release dates for them.

Salty_Snake 27 July, 2011 @ 1:44 pm   45

A new L.A. Noire case?
I didn’t think there’d be any others. Well, this has made my wednesday!

Just to make sure, it is covered by the Rockstar Pass, right?

Also, what happened to the Epic Game mini that was meant to be released last week? I was quite looking forward to that…

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 5:13 pm

One Epic Game should be available on the Store – I have just checked and it’s there.

As far as I know, all LA Noire DLC is covered by the Rockstar pass.

Hi, Ross! I just wanted to ask if you could tell me if any of these games have a chance of being next month’s free Plus PSN title, as I really wanna get them, but I’m afraid that right after I buy them they’ll be offered for free. xD [/paranoia]
Anyway, the games are Moon Diver, Strong Bad and Back to the Future.

Thank you! n.n

Also, it’s so weird and unholy seeing other people with Jecht avatars now. ;_;

Faithless_mr 27 July, 2011 @ 1:44 pm   48

Hi Ross,

Haven’t commeneted in a while. Just wandered if you could possibly answer the following 2 questions.

1) Is resident evil 4 and code veronica X HD both being released in europe on the same day as the US are getting it? the reason i’m asking is that the US have already had their date confirmed, but I can see nothing for us.

2) Also don’t suppose you know anything about Final Fantasy 10 & 12 HD possibly getting a release :-)

cheers

    Ross McGrath 28 July, 2011 @ 5:22 pm

    Howdy.

    1) Well until Capcom announce I can’t say, but Capcom tend to be good about simultaneous releases. Unless we’re talking about avatars. Ahem.

    2) I don’t but I’m sure they’d be well received! I would drop them a note over on the Square-Enix community and make mention of this because ultimately they’d be the ones creating and publishing.
