‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 3rd August 2011

STORE IMAGE

Hello everyone, and a Happy Wednesday to you all.

Content galore this week ranging from Digital Blu-rays right through to new minis and for once, there’s too much for me to actually talk about all of it!

Ubisoft have put a few bits and pieces on sale for you for one week only, so take a look at those – as well as releasing the 10/10 Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood onto the store and available digitally for the first time.

Don’t forget that as part of Plus, if you buy Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood you get two of the avatars releasing today for free. There are also Plus deals on AC and ACII as well, so be sure to check those out. Square-Enix have also reduced the price of a selection of PSone Classics – have a look at the list below.

What else is new? Well, Back to the Future is finally completed this week with the release of the fifth and final episode. 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 makes an appearance again this week and this time it’s here to stay – you can also get the DLC at the same time if you’d like. ModNation Racers is finally here for download and Plus consumers also get 20% off. And if you’ve never tried Fat Princess (and really you should have, because it’s an awesome team-based PSN title) you can get the anniversary bundle which has the game, DLC, all the avatars and a new dynamic theme bundled in.

In the world of DLC, we’ve got new stuff for Red Faction: Armageddon and the start of the Toy Story DLC for LittleBigPlanet 2 as well. There are also loads more downloadable content gems, including some aesthetic upgrades and early unlocks for Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 and that echochrome II soundtrack has finally made an appearance as well.

Finally, if you haven’t already seen it then the complete demonstration video of BioShock: Infinite from this year’s E3 is now available for you to download. I was lucky enough to see it while I was there and for me, it was without a doubt the most impressive thing I saw at the show – go get it!

That’s all – I’ll be back for comments from 2pm for an hour or so and then back again down the line so leave your messages after the beep.

BEEEEEEP.

Hi Ross

Last week you said Crash Bash has been legally cleared and has it gone into Q&A yet? I hope that its not one of them games that has loads of problems and passes Q&A first time.

Do you think we will get Crash Bash this year?

Are we ever going to get PS2 classics as I’m sick of waiting? They waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay long overdue, please tell us if there are any possibilities, at least we can rule them out if not.

Can you see if we can get Crash bandicoot the wrath of cortex as a ps2 classic?

Please answer ALL of my points.

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:04 pm

    Howdy,

Okay so CB is still one we’re working on, I am pretty sure it’s now on top of the pile but when I’ve got news I will share it.
I would imagine that it will be entirely possible for you to get Crash Bash from our Store before the end of 2011 as long as it’s not broken, but as usual I promise nothing.
I don’t have any information to share on PS2 emulation at the moment, and so by extension, nothing on Wrath of Cortex.

Mr5nake_uk 3 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   2

Hi where is spelunker HD which was removed last month?.

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:07 pm

Spelunker HD is now going to be releasing next week and as I’ve said previously will feature a disount for Plus subscribers.

Ross

Whilst I was downloading Crash Bandicoot 2 I noticed that that it has been given the incorrect title as it is called “Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back” not “crash bandicoot 2.”(which is on the store) Can you change the title to Crash Bandicoot 2 Cortex Strikes Back, please?

Also the tomb raider games are still in the wrong order on the store it goes “tomb raider Chronicles” and then “last revelation,” but it’s the other way round it should be last revelation before Chronicles.
Can you change this please?

Please answer ALL of my points.

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:09 pm

I will ask the metadata guys to make an amend on the name if we can, and I’ll pass on your feedback to the merchandising team about the order of the Tomb Raider games as well.

Death-In-Pants 3 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   4

Not first!

Whoo Hoo!

Stratege 3 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   5

Is there any hope to see 3D Ultra MiniGolf 2 in Russian store some day?

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:11 pm

The bundle that includes the game and the DLC will be available in Russia and Ukraine from today’s publish.

Driver today then :D

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:12 pm

Should be all set, let me know if not and I’ll go and beat some people with big sticks.

Death-In-Pants 3 August, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   7

Yes, please answer all of my posts. Me, me, me!

cheeky4life 3 August, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   8

HI Ross

On Monday said about import PSone classics that you need a 60HZ display or TV I think you said, well I have a Luxor 1080p HD LCD, 16 inch flat screen TV, will that be ok for the 60HZ PSone classics?

I don’t get it can explain it a bit more

How does the importing work for example if Crash Bash fails QA here (which it probably will) and the USA have got it before us (which they probably will) will we get it at the same time as them?

How long (roughly weeks) does the process take from the USA getting it and us?

Please answer ALL of my points.

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:15 pm

First of all, nowadays you have to work pretty hard to find a TV that doesn’t support 60 Hz, so I’m sure yours will be fine.

For the imports, they have to go through the same process and same checks as the PAL PSone titles, the only difference is that we use an NTSC disc for the emulation, so the timeframe for emulation is pretty much the same.

Hi Ross,

Big update for me (PS + is getting better and better…). One question: should we expect W40k: Team Kill any time soon? it was released yesterday on PSS US. Thanks and have a great afternoon!

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:16 pm

Yeah, it’s out next week in SCEE – there was a post about this from THQ last week.

xchris2008x 3 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   10

Any news on wkcs 2 dlc yet? :(

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:17 pm

I’ve not heard anything new yet I’m afraid, but James tells me Ross Alexander has a post about this coming up.

lonewolf23786 3 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   11

any SNK games that came out on Xbox Live coming her eon PSN anytime soon?
Examples include: King of Fighters 02 Unlimited Match, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum and Garou Mark of the Wolves.

Please release them on PSN soon.

identity25 3 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   12

I’d still like to see the pre-psn downtime sales return, with psp full game sale reductions and mini’s price reductions, havent had that for many months now

Alex-1124 3 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   13

Just LBP2 DLC for me but a great update non the less, any chance you could also get Sly Cooper Thieves in Time E3 trailer onto the store and maybe even more Sly Cooper avatars?

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:20 pm

I’ve just asked the lovely Erica to look into getting the E3 trailer published for you and I’ve mentioned your desire for more Sly avatars as well. :)

Suzzopher 3 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   14

No Galaga :(

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:23 pm

    He’s sat next to me.
    Oh wait, GalAGA… right.

    You don’t have a long wait. :)

cheeky4life 3 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   15

Ross

P.S I think Japanese PSone classics are a waste of time and effort, the language barrier is a start not to mention there isn’t that big of a demand for Japanese than there is USA titles anyway.

Please, Ross don’t waste time emulating and getting Japanese titles when you could be getting other popular USA titles.

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:25 pm

It’s not a bandwidth issue, emulating a game doesn’t stop us emulating another games, so don’t worry.

any news about WKC2 DLC ross?

kingcrowbaruk 3 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   17

When on earth is Modnatio… nevermind :)

Any chance of some DLC bundles/discounts for it, tracks and prop type stuff?

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:27 pm

Yeah, the product mananger for ModNation Racers is looking at putting together some DLC bundles for you all, so I’m sure you’ll see some in the future.

Corruptions 3 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   18

Not even a month and Gex Deep Cover Gecko is already getting a price cut. I’d hate to of been a early buyer …

Death-In-Pants 3 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   19

Hi Ross,

I rented a film out the other night called House. To my surprise it was the horror film from the 80′s and not the TV series featuring the sarcastic doctor.

It was incorrectly named.
Can you change this please?

Please answer ALL of my points.

SurrealNightmare 3 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   20

Hey Ross,

Do either you or the other Ross have any updates regarding White Knight Chronicles II DLC?

We’re all impatiently waiting for its release, thanks.

Suzzopher 3 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   21

Wait Gensan is already on PSN for £7.99!

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:32 pm

Ah yes, okay I’m going to explain this fully here, because it has caused some confusion for which I apologise.

So the previous publisher of the three PSP Games that were listed has been disolved, so the titles have changed ownership and have been republished under the new publisher, and as such from the Store team’s perspective are new products.
They appeared on the sheet that I use to update the blog and so they got added, and while technically they’re new for us, they’re not new for you.

So I’ve had them removed from the post and I’ll speak to the new owner about the pricing, as Gen San specifically had been heavily reduced prior to the change over – this might just be an oversight.

xchris2008x 3 August, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   22

Only Back To The Future Episode 5 for me this week.

guitardevil6 3 August, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   23

Ross! I could kiss you! BTTF Episode 5 YAY!

Definitely getting Prince of Persia + Epilogue DLC as well :)

Really great update this week all round, and looking forward to the addition of the US and Japan PSOne emulations. My requests have all been asked for by others, but please try for Silent Hill, Dino Crisis series, and Resident Evil series.

Thanks very much!

Are we getting Dragon Age Legacy any time soon?

Ross!

So, about these PS1 titles.

When is…

:D

Hell-Raiser-85 3 August, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   26

Nice update but where is Warhammer 40,000 Killteam?

Shikome 3 August, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   27

No fair! Why does Denmark get a unique game? I want to play that now just because its exclusive! :P

ryannumber3gamer 3 August, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   28

thanks ross for bttf the game ep 5 =)

cheeky4life 3 August, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   29

Do you know when the Marvel vs Capcom 3 avatars will be released?

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:35 pm

I don’t I’m afraid – the reason Capcom avatars take a while t come over is that they have to be separately approved by Capcom in Japan for th US Store and then for the EU Store, so it does tend to slow everything up.

We should definitely be getting them, but at the moment I’ve got no schedule for when they’ll be here.

Back to the future episode 5 & assassins creed avatars on my birthday! I’m happy :D

AngelVsMadman 3 August, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   33

Ross: Colony Wars PSOne? Soundtrack from SOCOM SF & inFAMOUS 2?

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:44 pm

Colony Wars is being looked at, yes.
That’s an interesting request for those soundtracks, I think you’ll be seeing the inFamous sountracks available in the future. I don’t know about the SOCOM soundtrack I’m afraid.

Jimmirock 3 August, 2011 @ 1:10 pm   34

Smart! I’ll pick up Tomb Raider I and II once I get a PS3 (no room left on my PSP, hoho).

thekeats1999 3 August, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   35

Not a bad update. Only KoF ’95 for me.

I know this is more a question fo THQ but they don’t want to answer, why the one month wait for Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team? It wasn’t a summer of arcade release.

Chocobo115 3 August, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   36

Ach nothing besides picking up the last BTTF episode for me.
Is Castlevania: Harmony of Despair actually coming? I thought I read a blog post about it but I can’t find it again. So I’m starting to wonder if it’s just in my fantasy! >_<

magmar126 3 August, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   37

SPELUNKER HD?!

Carnivius_Prime 3 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   38

Well it’s nice to see a Neo Geo game again even if it’s not a particularly good one (I’m still waiting for Shock Troopers, Last Resort, The Last Blade and Blazing Star). I’d still like to see them SNK Minis the US got a couple weeks ago.

Has Fat Princess been improved lag-wise? I gave up on it some months ago because it was always horribly lagging and impossible to play yet I have never had that issue with games like Uncharted 2, Super Street Fighter IV, Burnout Paradise and LittleBigPlanet 1&2.

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:48 pm

Those SNK minis will be coming to the EU Store, so don’t worry.
Fat Princess is a much better online experience than it used to be, yes – I was also put off to start with.

Death-In-Pants 3 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   39

Hi Ross,

It said on the film cover that you need a TV to watch the film. I recently sold my television to buy a blu ray player. Can I watch Blu Ray films without my Luxor 1080p HD LCD, 16 inch flat screen TV?

HiddenAway 3 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   40

I could have sworn Gensan and Mawaskes were on the store already (Gensan at £7.99, which I feel is a good deal). Can you clarify this one?

Also, can you ask someone to look at the MediaGo software? If I add one item to my cart then try to look at another item, the application just hangs for about 5 minutes before it goes to the page. It’s been happening since PSN returned from Spring break ;). I can do a video if needed, showing the issue.

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 2:50 pm

Have a look further up the page, I explained the PSP Games thing.
I believe someone is already looking into the Media Go software as there have been a number of issues cropping up that you guys have reported.

Xenostar 3 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   41

Ross,

Please ignore all Cheeky4Life’s Points ;-)

elhozzo3 3 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   42

surprised the PSP sale is coming so late in the summer (portable gaming during the hols… no?)

well, when it does come, I hope it can include Peggle, Stardust, Patchwork Hero’s at 50% ?

Agamer2006 3 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   43

Hey Ross, was wondering if you could say when we will be getting the new Worms DLC Packs?

    Ross McGrath 3 August, 2011 @ 4:43 pm

I think there’s going to be a blog post on this from Team 17 so I won’t tread on their toes.

I’m coming back for more comments guys, if not tonight then tomorrow morning – I will check over the posts before I go and if there are any specific content issues I’ll ask people to look at them.

Hi Ross, nice new Avatar… nothing for me this week, but next week is Kill-Team week time.

Great offers, one question though

Soldner-X2: Final Prototype + Soldner-X: Himmelsturmer now £12.99/€14.99 Does this also include the LAST CHAPTER , or is there none such a bundle?

Have a nice day.

    Heya,
That’s one bundle that doesn’t yet exist, but I will ask my contact about the possibility for a future promotion.

I’ll invite Lucas Arts to take part in the next appropriate sale activity we do – I think some discounts on that DLC are probably overdue.

Hi Ross.

It was great to see Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions on the store a while ago. Could you PLEASE look into getting a PSN release for Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep?

Thanks!

Ross, any news on whether Codemasters are sorting out the price of the Asia X Games track pack for Dirt 3? It was pointed out last week that it only costs $0.99 on the US Store, and £3.19 on the EU store is a huge mark up in price.

    Ross McGrath 4 August, 2011 @ 3:18 pm

I chased that up with Codemasters – turns out that the US pricing is wrong and not ours, so no mark down I’m afraid.
