I have only one little question:
How is that possible that we can watch every music video on YouTube (even those VEVO ones) while being in Poland, but to use VidZone we have to pretend that we live in UK or one of other countries supported by your service. Not attcking, just asking.
Also, I can’t believe that launching VidZone in Poland wouldn’t make a profit. I saw the UK’s version of the service and as far as I’m concerned it is mainly funded by ads. We have VOD services in our country and companies that run them somehow managed to find someone who will invest their money in them in exchange for showing their ads.
So sorry to bother you in every update post, but it’s so annoying – VidZone already has so many polish artists in its base and it’s like every country in Europe can watch them for free except us
So… when Poland?!
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 11:47 am by Ben Creasey
Hi Coomoo
Sorry for the lateness of my reply.
You are correct, we aren’t saying it is impossible to work in any country, especially one as established as Poland, but we can only do one thing at a time. A new territory launch takes many 100′s of hours of planning, licensing, ad selling, developing, editorial and promotion so the main reason is that we are a small company and don’t have the resources to roll out in all the countries we would like. I know this is no consolation for you, but Poland is at pretty much the top of the list if we can manage to launch in new territories. don’t give up faith, we haven’t, and please keep up the when Poland, it really does make a strong case to us when we have so much demand on the blog for it.
I hope that has answered your question, we try and be as open as possible with our users.

@shedboy90
Maybe from your perspective, expansion of VidZone to other countries is not important, as you can just press X on XMB and start enjoying music videos. But I’ve paid for PS3 the same price and I want to have the same functionality. I wonder what would you do, if everyone apart from UK had an amazing service such as VidZone, and you could just look, and do anything about it.
So please, don’t be so puffed-up, saying Polish customers (and other from Eastern Europe, which VidZone can’t possibly see on a map) are not important as I can say such thing about UK customers and you know that wouldn’t be true.
Nice trolling, btw

Great service but was on all day yesterday and 4 ads after every 2 songs was driving me mad, especially the ad for the Nissan Monstrosity, twinkle twinkle. lol
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 11:36 am by Ben Creasey
Hi Grizla75
Sorry for the lateness of my reply.
We try and have as much Ad inventory as possible so you don’t get the same ads more than once for at least an hour. Advertising is essential for keeping the service free, but we do try and make it as unintrusive as possible.

@Ben
The video “Fågt op i skalle” by Malk de Koijn doesn’t work and never has – This is the third time I have pointed this out here… Maybe the video should just be removed?
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 11:15 am by Ben Creasey
Hi Mnemonic-dk
This video is now fixed.
Thanks
Ben

@mnemonic-dk
I kind of agree sadly…
I pointed out 3 videos that didn’t work (despite being in a published playlist) about 6 weeks ago and made a passing reference to advetrs grating. I was pleased to get a reply, but sadened that it lectured me on why adverts are necessary (like that’s not obvious!) and ignored the main point about the videos.
@Ben, let’s get what we have already loaded working and then worry about updating it. I’m gutted VidZone has gone this way.
PS: Just to let you know, there is some good news; all the adverts are still working without a hitch…phew!
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 11:34 am by Ben Creasey
Hi G2OWLY
I’m sorry to hear the videos you requested still don’t work. The changes we made ensured all videos were now working again shortly after you posted and I personally checked that the following 3 were working.
Angels – Within Temptation, Anathema – pressure and Forever After – Paradise Lost
I have retested them just now and they still work. Can you let me know if they aren’t for you and we can advise accordingly.
Apologies for not telling you that they were working again, and we do test and fix all videos that are reported to us as not working.
Sorry if you thought I was lecturing you also, The intention was not to patronise, just to be as open and honest as possible as I try to be with all our users.
I hope this answers all your questions.

Hi Ben, thanks for reply. Totally understand that ads are essential for a free service, just wish there could be more variation in them. The same 4 ads every 2 songs can do serious damage to your mental health. lol. Especially if your playlist has over 700 songs on it (like mine).
Anyway, fantastic service which needs to be made available to all countries. Keep up the good work.
ps, any chance of other björk vids off Debut album? Big time sensuality, play dead etc.

Hi Ben,
Firstly, I’m really grateful that you take the time to reply.
I checked Angels & Pressure before my original post and since reading your reply and can assure you they do not work this end. I have tried from my playlist, the playlist you have published and by searching to see if my playlist was corrupted, but they just start to load, then stop every time, where others work perfectly fine.
Are you now thinking this is a local issue with my profile? If so, please advise accordingly as promised.
Thanks for your help.
